I watch you
Take my words
Put them in your mouth
David Blaine you are.
Pull them out like
They were never mine
To begin with.
take a step closer.
I watch you
Take my hands
Put them on your heart
Byron that you are.
Pump them at will
Irregular. Lub-dub.
Like it’s you’s beating.
take a step closer.
I watch you
Take down my pants
Put them behind back
Casanova you are?
Dead man’s fingers
Run up my virgin thigh
Shudder and brace.
take a step closer.
I watch you
Take my voice
Stuff it down a bird’s mouth
Smother me into song
Trill in the morning
Cries you held down
Into the pillow at night.
take a step closer.
i watch you
take each thumb
put them on either side
and push down until you
pop my eyes outta socket
make me swallow
my pride.
i’m too close now
and i can’t get back.
(when I feel stuff
i don't wanna
poetry
helps.)
What an incredibly intense poem.
The form adds so much tension to it. With every double space between the stanzas and the chorus (so to speak) I feel my heart anxiously pumping in my chest, wondering what is coming next.
Thank you, it just flowed!
Poetry does help. This was intense! And some parts very relatable.
This poem evokes a visceral sense of vulnerability and loss of control. The repetition; "take a step closer" creates a haunting atmosphere, as it emphasizes the intrusion and violation in each stanza. I love that the imagery is vivid, and the connection between personal experiences and iconic figures like David Blaine and Byron adds layers of meaning.
You're a scarlet poet, Honey.
Very powerful...I think it invokes the same feelings in the reader
Thank you. i don't know what it does yet, so maybe :)
An excellent poem, feelings bloom in viginal tunics that fly in the wind, words that seek to come out in a release of hammering memories.
Thanks for sharing.
Good day.
Hm
It feels like the poet is trying to give out his all
Full power. Hugs and you are powerful! More than you know 🔥
It's not a typo ;) And thank you!
I wondered :) I read it three times and summink was simmering and then I missed it.
I will re-read in a day or so! ;)
Powerful message in the poem
