On Without Us
Confusion reigns upon us now, as the world once known falls asunder.
Smokes won't clear and fires ignite, under contorted faces of hopeless wonder.
The lands once whole are broken, the voices silent and working hands now still.
Lives of plenty stolen in plain sight, by those without values but with the will.
Desire for more is the core value held, and violence the currency of trade.
Good and evil are now meaningless terms, when all sides fight to be paid.
As the rivers run dry and the forests fall, the oceans rise and brew.
The air hangs thick with poison, and the creatures of earth withdrew.
Generation after generation of advancement, now contracting into the past.
All the predictions of a better future, reduced to potentially the last.
If we are to be remembered, it will unlikely be for our chase.
Our legacy will be our hubris, stupidity and lack of grace.
The inevitability of change cannot be held back, it takes us all too soon,
Before we know it has happened, all we have known is already consumed.
With all our attempts and failure, the one thing we can hold at the end.
Is that we will all be washed away, for none of us deserve to ascend.

You have highlighted many beautiful points in a very short writing. In the present time, we have become so immersed in darkness that jealousy, greed and pride have become the main weapons among us. We have made it the main weapon in all aspects of life, be it in life or in business. Maybe these problems were small in our ancestors, but now I see that this amount is increasing day by day among us and in the future, jealousy, pride and trade wars will be very prominent among those who will succeed us.
I see this too. They are part of our nature, but now they are overpowering the other parts of our nature - the better parts are being overwhelmed.
The lines about rivers drying up and forests disappearing create a clear image of environmental decay that is very real today.
We can definitely do better than we are.
But ofcourse the waves and our life have some interesting parallels. Everything must move on dissolve to create and dissolve agai n🙂
Everything returns to nothing.
Unfortunately, the once abundant and prosperous world is collapsing in chaos, with flames raging and despair and silence enveloping everything. We are accelerating the collapse with our own hands. We are all to blame.
We are the asteroid that kill ourselves.
Our legacy will be our arrogance...
That's the key to everything, and it needs to be changed!
Applause for your lyrical message!
The funny thing about arrogance is, it thinks it is always on the right path.
Dark, But very much on point IMO.
