I kid, life is difficult based on perspective and what you are content with. To help adjust with those factors I recommend the study of stoicism. A couple of good places to start are the daily stotic by Ryan Holiday and Stoicism Resources put together by Tim Ferriss.
As for difficult people, when you get your own mind and perspective in order, most of that will drop away. There will still be difficult people, but you will start to see the root of their pain and empathize with them. They will also hurt you less as you will be less suseptible to be pulled into their crap.
