I’ve always had a soft spot for hidden gems—those out-of-the-way places like restaurants and speakeasy bars that offer a sense of mystery and a welcome escape from the city’s hustle and bustle. If you share this passion and enjoy a good tea session, you're going to love this spot I recently stumbled upon.
Leaf Lohas is a hidden tea house, nestled right in the middle of a residential area in Cheras Perdana. The exact location is a well-kept secret, revealed only upon successful booking through their website. You’ll receive an email with the details and receipt once your booking is confirmed. Each session is a relaxing two hours, with a booking fee of RM30 per person.
As you make your way to the tea house, you’ll be greeted by a lush array of plants lining the stairs, with some trees peeking over the outer fence, giving the place a serene, welcoming vibe. Stepping inside, you’re instantly enveloped in a sense of calm, thanks to the light ambient music playing. With sessions limited to just 12 people, and being the first to arrive, we had our pick of the seats.
The decor of the entire premise is by Mr. Yap himself, an ex-interior designer. During our chat, we learned that the business is run by Mr. Yap, his wife, and one helper. Before COVID, they operated like any ordinary cafe in a commercial lot but downsized to a residential setting to introduce tea into our lives, making it feel like you’re visiting a friend’s house for a tea session.
The menu, elegantly presented in a small pouch, boasts a generous selection of about 25-30 teas—green, white, red, and black—mainly from China and Taiwan. Each tea is thoughtfully chosen by Mr. Yap during his visits to tea farms abroad, ensuring a fresh and unique experience every time. We were informed that the menu changes seasonally, curated by Mr. Yap during his visits to tea farms abroad.
Leaf Lohas isn't just about the tea; it's about the whole experience. As you sit in this tranquil environment, you can hear the soft patter of rain on the roof (light rain during our visit), the chirping of birds, and even spot a squirrel darting around the trees outside (if you're lucky). The ambiance is perfect for those who need a break from their busy lives and want to reconnect with nature and themselves.
Tea prices range from RM40-70, and the desserts, which vary daily, usually include cakes and traditional Chinese jelly sweets. Each dessert is a delightful accompaniment to the tea, making the experience even more special. It's not just about drinking tea; it's about savouring each moment, each sip, in a setting that feels almost magical.
Leaf Lohas also has a strict appointment-only policy to ensure that each guest gets the best experience without overcrowding. They are open from 11am - 8pm on Thursday to Saturday and 3pm - 7pm on Sunday. This means no walk-ins are allowed, ensuring a peaceful and personal experience for everyone.
If you’re looking for a peaceful retreat to enjoy a cup of tea, Leaf Lohas is definitely worth a visit. So why not take a break from the hustle and bustle, and book a session at Leaf Lohas? It’s a perfect escape that promises peace, tranquillity, and, of course, excellent tea.
