Hello Friends!!!

Today we will have a virtual tour of a very interesting aviation museum. This museum is one of the largest in Russia. Periodically, he holds promotions and the entrance there becomes free for everyone. So I took these summer photos on this very day, when I went there with my brother and his son.

This first part of my narration will be devoted to the oldest aircraft in the exposition, these are the aircraft of the beginning of the century and the time of the Second World War. They are in covered hangars for safekeeping. Also next to the planes are their weapons and sometimes mannequins depicting pilots.
Near each exhibit there are signs with detailed descriptions of technical characteristics.

The pride of the Air Force Museum is its exhibits "Ilya Muromets", ANT-25, IL-2, DB-3, La-7 (three times Hero of the Soviet Union I.Kozhedub), M-50, Su-100, Su-35, Tu-144, MiG-29, Mi-12, Yak-24, Mi-24 helicopters and many others. Against the background of modern passenger planes, to which everyone is accustomed, these military fighters from the Second World War seem small. But they all had deadly power, which should not be forgotten. Such a trip to the museum reminds us of the horrors of war, and after that we must understand that we must live in peace and friendship.

History of creation

In 1958, in the military town of Monino near Moscow, on the basis of an airfield, workshops and two hangars, on the initiative of the Chief of the Air Force Academy, Marshal of Aviation S.A. Krasovsky, a museum-exhibition of Air Force aviation equipment was created at the Red Banner Air Force Academy (order of the Commander-in-Chief of the Air Force No. 209 of November 28, 1958).

Great difficulties in organizing the museum of the Air Force were associated with the search for old aircraft. On this occasion, the Commander-in-Chief of the Air Force, by a special order, ordered all commanders of military units and units of the Air Force to transfer outdated samples of aviation equipment and, first of all, aircraft to the museum being created at the Academy.

In 1959, the museum had a Tu-4 bomber, La-15 and La-11 fighters, Po-2 and Yak-18 training aircraft, one glider, 20 air cannons and cannons.

On February 23, 1960, the Air Force Museum was opened to visitors, having 586 storage units available, including 14 aircraft.

By the early 70s, the museum had gained wide popularity. It already had 35 units of full-scale aircraft.

In 1971, the museum-exhibition of aviation equipment of the Air Force received the name of the Museum of the USSR Air Force (Directive of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the USSR No. 314/8/0504 of January 30, 1971).

By its 20th anniversary, the museum had more than eighty full-scale samples of aviation equipment, more than a million visitors visited its walls. The museum was also replenished with Farman-4 and Ilya Muromets aircraft recreated at the film studios. As a result of search work, restoration of found aircraft in the Design Bureau and museum workshops, the museum's collection is continuously replenished with airplanes and helicopters, unique samples of engines, equipment and weapons of aircraft, personal belongings of famous aviators.

By Order of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 792-r of June 8, 2000, the Federal State Institution Central Museum of the Air Force was established.
