It is market Friday and searching for a poetry book

in Pinmapple2 years ago (edited)

The hope of purchasing an easy to read flowing prose and romantic love sonnets was the main driving force to check out this totally unusual supercool hip looking BOOKS & ART shop in Canungra.

So commenced my market escapade which I confess was several days ago and now is my post contribution for this week's #marketFriday community, created and organised by the very lovely and extremely nice @dswigle.

As I was walked through the door after checking in on the Queensland Government site and hand sanitising I was greeted with the option of a number of different doorways. This had to be the busiest book, arty, crafty, clothes all into together appealing and a little sensory overwhelming place I have been in for a long while.

I walked straight ahead to be first greeted with a haphazardly arranged pile of cowboy/western novels. This place really had a quirky relaxed at home kind of style about it.......

........ especially with this little sign taped on the wall for the Zane Grey readers. My dear old dad would have loved this section, he was an avid reader of cowboy stories.

In this section I found the action, adventure books and was more than excited to see lots of Clive Cussler's at very reasonable prices. My hunt for the poetry book was momentarily put on hold as I picked out a couple to tuck under my arm. This reading genre books is my light relaxation downtime.

I resisted the urge to curl up on the red ottoman with a Clive Cussler treasure instead preferring to keep looking around for that elusive poetry.

Check this little thin booklet, would you believe it is a complete guide to a perfect trim, flat muscly abdomen. Anyone interested? I wondered if whoever owned this book stuck with the exercises and diet to look fabulous.?

Anyone wanting a poster of Marilyn Monroe in her famous pose in a New York street? Or perhaps there is someone who likes a dress or a top enough to buy? Neither were my style but I am sure someone will come along and get excited.

The ringing of the phone abruptly ended my reminiscing of playing vinyl LPs on old long ago record players, it was time to leave this funky treasure cove as coffee and lunch orders were being made at one of the local cafes.

I paid for my two Clive Cussler books and quickly exited the Art & Craft Shop promising myself that I will return to finish my looking when I next visit Canungra. This little treasure cove is certainly worth a couple more visits.

I am not holding out for the poetry book sitting on a shelf in this stylish place as I am thinking that it is in a book shop somewhere else.

oooooooooooooOOOOOOOoooooooooooo

So finishes my weekly #marketFriday post, and while it is always a lot of fun joining in and taking the photographs, I have to say it was particularly enjoyable going down memory lane for me this time. A good feel!

Cyclone Seth continues to water our gardens, plants and every potted flower and while it could say that enough is enough and please turn off the tap Mother Nature, we can only be thankful that it is not a summer full of droughts and fires in Queensland. My flowers are saying thank you to the clouds opening up and raining down.

What a fun shop! Yes? I used to love reading Zane Grey! LOL I have no idea why, but, I did. Those fancy dresses were not my style, but, they worked for Marilyn! :) This is such a fun post and I love perusing through those shops! I love that you brought that to us on #MarketFriday!

Thank you for being a part of #MarketFriday! I cannot tell you how pleased I am to see so many participating every week. I have learned so much about the different cultures of the world, especially the small things that go unnoticed except by those looking for it. Life is interesting, wherever you are, whatever you are doing. I hope the New Year finds you healthy and happy, as we all look to prosper in our way of life.

#MarketFriday began as a way to reach out across the globe and learn about different cultures through their markets, especially local markets and farmers markets and eventually branching out and evolving over time from straight shopping to a cultural affair as it highlights how we differ and then again, how much we are alike. We have become a melting pot of culture, but, it is still the Rituals, Festivals, food, architecture, even your language/languages that separate us... Along with the fact of what is these things are normal for us. There are unwritten rules that rule our social behaviors. I see this as allowing for increased tolerance between cultures and nations, and opportunities to come together on an even playing ground. A strong culture can be beneficial to a country as it promotes unity, especially during a crisis, peaceful debate, and open dialogue. I have learned so much about all of you and it has been an amazing experience. I can only hope that learning about each other can help us work together for a peaceful world.

Fridays are all about the #MarketFriday Challenge! Looking to take part in it? Here is how:

I always love the wonderful zest and enthusiasm of #marketFriday, it is contagious with many thanks to you Denise.
I read cowboy/western stories too in my carefree youth just because I had plenty of time a loved reading any books I could find in the house. I loved joining Biggles and his friends on their adventures the best though.
Marilyn was very good at turning on her special appeal that so many really loved. It was all so long ago and still get amazed with posters of her still on walls in that dress that is not my style either.
Happy day to you, hope you get to put your feet up! 💛

A great shop to browse through Angie @angiemitchell. My dad also loves too read the western novels. 🤠
