A delightful Normandy Exploration on the edge of the Forest

in Worldmappin8 months ago (edited)

Hello dear Hivers ! Our return to Paris has temporarily prevented me from being here as much as I would have liked, but after a few days I'm acclimatized again.

Today, I'd like to share with you a little of that walk above the forest that we visited in part last time. This time, we're going further up the hills, through fields and pastures.

But without further ado, let's start this walk on a completely sunny day, even if it's not much more than one degree on the thermometer...!

DSC_1945.JPG

It's the middle of the day, but the light is already low and streaming through the trees. We've parked next to the Réno-Valdieu abbey, but we're about to set off in the opposite direction.

DSC_1958.JPG

Little dips like this are an eternal invitation to wander around the countryside and discover new routes. Like last time, we're setting off without maps or pre-planned routes.

DSC_1975.JPG

DSC_1968.JPG

We start off along the edge of the forest and in the distance we hear a few shots from hunters, but fortunately it's more in the opposite direction than the open country we're heading towards without knowing it...

DSC_1978.JPG

DSC_1987.JPG

DSC_1990.JPG

Then we set off into the forest, with its thousand and one wonders to behold. As I take the time to admire and then capture certain things with my camera, I inevitably lag behind and it's my companion who leads the way !

DSC_2003.JPG

DSC_2008.JPG

DSC_2006.JPG

A dead oak, probably felled by the last big storm, and already, on a nearby trunk, mushrooms are spreading...

DSC_2020.JPG

At this time of day, I've always loved the sun's rays, reflected in the various obstacles of the vertical trees.

DSC_2040.JPG

DSC_2041.JPG

Then we come to an open area, in fact a ranch, which we go around, still in the forest, and where we don't see many horses at first...

DSC_2054.JPG

The walk resumes on the narrow forest path...

DSC_2063.JPG

DSC_2066.JPG

We've now reached a locality, but it seems that one of the roads we're on is a dead end, and even though I'm curious, I prefer looping rather than going back and forth...

DSC_2076.JPG

DSC_2073.JPG

So we take one of the other directions, and come across this basket willow that reminds me of a gardening project !

DSC_2078.JPG

DSC_2080.JPG

At the bend in the road, we come across the horse training tracks. A typically Norman landscape where almost everyone rides a horse !

DSC_2084.JPG

DSC_2090.JPG

We then drive past the stable's rather pretty buildings...

DSC_2102.JPG

And the route continues through the valleys between natural hedges and pastures.

DSC_2092.JPG

Here's the first young horse through the undergrowth of a hedge...

DSC_2110.JPG

DSC_2115.JPG

A new crossroads, we continue to form our loop and gradually return to the car. We've already been on the road for over an hour. Maybe two ?

DSC_2120.JPG

Pastures as far as the eye can see and, in the distance, two horses...

DSC_2125.JPG

But in the foreground, it's another type of willow that we're picking up to try and make a living hedge in our garden. Apparently, all you have to do is plant the branches you've collected, stick them in the ground and weave them into the shape you want.

But I'll tell you more about this project in due course :)

DSC_2146.JPG

DSC_2128.JPG

DSC_2149.JPG

The road, the hours and the shadows stretch under our feet and we return peacefully, taking the time to admire the surrounding landscapes. I'm still trailing behind with my bunch of willows and my camera in the other hand.

DSC_2167.JPG

DSC_2163.JPG

Pastures as far as the eye can see. Horizons of oak trees and small wild hedges.

DSC_2203.JPG

DSC_2202.JPG

That's it, we're gradually entering the forest...

DSC_2216.JPG

DSC_2219.JPG

DSC_2214.JPG

The signs tell us where we are, but if you think about it, we never felt lost for a moment !

DSC_2222.JPG

DSC_2226.JPG

And that's it, this mainly visual stroll comes to an end here, and I hope you've enjoyed following in our footsteps. Thank you for your visit, I wish you all a very pleasant day,

Bonjour chers Hivers !

I hope you're doing well :)

Are those rubber boots? It must have been cold! I stopped wearing them to the garden when it was about 5 degrees as I was freezing..

You wouldn't say it was so cold from those photos. The weather was so nice and the grass is still green over there! 😊

Are those rubber boots?

Indeed ! Plus we don't have yet the version with the special isolation for winter ! And yes ! That was a bit cold.. 😂 But we wear a big pairs of socks and it's doable hehe

In the sun, it was quite all right, maybe 6-7 degrees, maybe even more !

Thank you for visiting dear, I hope you're doing well ✌️😇

What about those comments in French? 😁

What beatuiful colors! All the orange and red tones... You sure had a good time there!
It's all winter with heavy snow over here... but as I love winter and snow I'm quite finewith it. 😅

Yeah, but sometimes I do miss a good and heavy cover of snow too haha 😇

Have a good new week start, I hope you're doing well !

So far I'm doig great. Just way too busy on job... just trvelling back from a business trip... it's taking me an 8-hour-drive on the long distance bus. 😆
Hope your back is better in the meanwhile?

Wow, 8 hours in a bus ! I assume it makes some stops along the road isn't ?

The back is almost almost finally healed ! Frankly, I was lucky one this one.. Thank you for asking about !!

Yeah, it takes several stops in the bigger cities along the way. Needed anyways for drivers change due to steering time limitations in the law. 😉

Glad to hear that! That could really have ended bad! I'm happy it didn't.
