I keep showing you the best images and places to visit of Genoa, a beautiful Italian city where I lived for several years, a coastal city bathed by the Ligurian Sea and the Mediterranean Sea.
It is usually left out of organized sightseeing tours and yet it has so many beautiful things to show for it.
It is the main Italian port and one of the main in the Mediterranean, although in recent times the true port has moved a few kms to the peripheral neighborhood of Voltri and the old port (Porto Antico) has been totally restructured to allow the arrival of the huge ships of tourist cruises and houses the second largest aquarium in Europe.
In the first post I had told you about the Palazzo Ducale (Royal Palace of the Duke of Genoa), the Galata Museum or Museum of the Sea, the Basilica della Nunziata, the Castle d'Albertis and the Church of San Lorenzo:

6.- Museum of Oriental Art "E. Chiossone". / Museo de Arte Oriental "E. Chiossone".

It is one of the largest collections of oriental art in Europe.
This magnificent cultural heritage comprises works of art from various Japanese and Chinese imperial dynasties.
In fact, all these works were collected by Edoardo Chiossone, an expert Italian metal engraver while working in one of the offices of the Ministry of Finance in the city of Tokyo at the end of the 19th century.

Es una de las colecciones de arte oriental más grandes de Europa.
Este magnífico patrimonio cultural comprende obras de arte de varias dinastías imperiales japonesas y chinas.
En realidad todas estas obras fueron recogidas por Edoardo Chiossone experto grabador de metales italiano mientras trabajaba en una de las dependencias del Ministerio de las Finanzas en la ciudad de Tokio a finales del siglo XIX.

7.- Porta Soprana.

In fact, in this case it is not a museum or art collections or a natural park.
It is simply what was the main access gate to the city of Genoa built when the city was being completed between 1955 and 1959, the so-called Barbaroja Walls.
A few meters away is the birthplace of Christopher Columbus.
On the left side of the door this sign warns who is about to go through it:

En realidad en este caso no se trata de un museo ni de colecciones de arte ni de un parque natural.
Se trata simplemente de lo que era la principal puerta de acceso a la ciudad de Génova construída cuando se estaba terminando de amurallar la ciudad entre los años 1955 y 1959, los llamados Muros de Barbaroja.
A pocos metros de distancia se encuentra casa natal de Cristóbal Colón.
En la parte izquierda de la puerta este letrero advierte a quien está por atravesarla:

8.- Nervi Parks. / Parques de Nervi.
For those who want to enjoy a day in a natural area with all the comforts without leaving the city of Genoa, the Nervi Park is the ideal place.
In reality, there are several parks that were unified forming a single large area.
It could be defined as a historical-environmental complex, of romantic inspiration, of inestimable value, where the typical Mediterranean flora joins exotic and tropical plants.
Palms of all kinds, cedars, araucarias coexist with ancient and majestic maritime pines highlighting the bottom of a completely blue sea.
Para quienes desean disfrutar de un dia en un área natural con todas las comodidades sin salir de la ciudad de Génova el Parque de Nervi es el lugar ideal.
En realidad son varios parques se se unificaron formando uno solo de gran extensión.
Se lo podria definir como un complejo histórico-ambiental, de inspiración romántica, de un inestimable valor, donde la tipica flora mediterránea se une a plantas exóticas y tropicales.
Palmas de todo tipo, cedros, araucarias conviven con antiguos y majestuosos pinos marítimos resaltando el fondo de un mar completamente azul.
