Rainy day / Día lluvioso
The day started very lively, it was the third day of our tour. Before I continue I would like to tell you that I did this trip with my brother @unguaroviajero and three other friends. In the morning everything was going perfect, we woke up around 6:30 - 7:00 am to start getting ready, in which honestly we would not spend much time because the night before we left everything ready to just put on our boots and go to the arena.
El día comenzó muy animado, era el tercero en nuestro tour. Antes de continuar les comento que este viaje lo hice con mi hermano @unguaroviajero y tres amigos más. Continuo, en la mañana todo marchaba perfecto, despertamos al rededor de las 6:30 - 7:00 am para comenzar a arreglarnos, en lo que sinceramente no gastaríamos mucho tiempo porque la noche anterior dejábamos todo listo para simplemente ponernos las botas y salir al ruedo.
The tour included breakfast every day and this time we would eat Andean pastries in the town of Mucuchíes, there we took the opportunity to walk around and take pictures with the Hotel El Castillo San Ignacio in the background. The day looked to be nice so we continued our way for about forty minutes to the point where the bus would leave us to start the hike to Laguna Negra.
En el tour estaban incluidos los desayunos de todos los días y esta vez comeríamos pastelitos andinos en el pueblo de Mucuchíes, allí aprovechamos para caminar por los alrededores y tomarnos fotos con el Hotel El Castillo San Ignacio de fondo. El día pintaba a ser agradable por lo que seguimos nuestro camino por aproximadamente de cuarenta minutos hasta el punto donde nos dejaría el bus para comenzar la caminata hasta Laguna negra.
When things change. / Cuando las cosas cambian.
When we began to climb the moor the weather changed completely, the rain and cold were felt strongly so my friends and I looked at each other with the question of whether we could do the route in these conditions.
Cuando comenzamos a subir al páramo el clima cambió completamente, la lluvia y el frío se hacían sentir con fuerza por lo que mis amigos y yo nos miramos con la interrogante de si podríamos hacer la ruta en esas condiciones.
When we arrived at the entrance of the Mucubají recreational area of the Sierra Nevada National Park nothing had changed, we did not even have the opportunity to get off the bus waiting for the rain to decrease a little. It was the moment then where the guide gave us the choice between leaving there to walk somewhere else (I don't remember which one) or doing the route in the conditions in which the weather was. Of course, being young people with a thirst for adventure we opted for option number two, although not everyone had the same adventurous spirit so those who did not want to do the route returned with the bus to the town of Mucuchíes.
Al llegar a la entrada del área recreativa Mucubají del Parque Nacional Sierra Nevada nada había cambiado, ni siquiera teníamos la oportunidad de bajarnos del bus esperando a que la lluvia disminuyera un poco. Fue el momento entonces donde el guía nos puso a elegir entre irnos de allí a pasear a otro lado (no recuerdo cual) o hacer la ruta en las condiciones en la que estaba el clima. Por supuesto, siendo jóvenes con sed de aventura decantamos por la opción número dos, aunque no todos tenían ese mismo espíritu aventurero así que los que no querían hacer la ruta regresaron con el bus al pueblo de Mucuchíes.
If we had to go to the map of Dora the explorer she would describe the route in three steps, Park Ranger Station, Mucubají Lagoon and Black Lagoon and that's the way I'm going to explain it too. We walked about fifteen minutes on asphalt road from the ranger station to the Laguna Mucubají, all that road is completely clear so it was the hardest part to cross, taking into account that at that point we were very wet and the wind was blowing hard so the cold was felt intensely to the bone.
Si tuviéramos que acudir al mapa de Dora la exploradora nos describiría la ruta en tres pasos, Puesto de guardaparques, Laguna Mucubají y Laguna Negra y de esa forma también la voy a explicar yo. Caminamos unos quince minutos sobre carretera de asfalto desde el puesto de guardaparques hasta la Laguna Mucubají, todo ese camino es completamente despejado por lo que fue la parte más difícil de atravesar, tengan en cuenta que en ese punto ya estábamos muy mojados y el viento soplaba con fuerza por lo que el frío se sentía con intensidad hasta los huesos.
Of course we had to be a bit cold (very cold) if we wanted to visit this place. The guide of the group we traveled with is called Sergio and he was taking pictures of us during the route, like this one ⬆️ in the background is the lagoon Do you see it?
Por supuesto que pasar un poco de frío (mucho frío) era algo que teníamos que soportar si deseábamos conocer ese lugar. El guía del grupo con el que viajamos se llama Sergio y nos estuvo tomando fotos durante la ruta, como esta ⬆️ en el fondo esta la Laguna ¿La ven?
I wanted to show you these two pictures taken by me with an old digital camera on a trip I made in 2014. It is the Mucubají Lagoon seen on a sunny day and completely covered with fog.
Quise mostrarles estas dos fotografías tomadas por mi con una cámara digital viejísima en un viaje que hice en 2014. Es la Laguna Mucubají vista en un día soleado y cubierta completamente con neblina.
Luckily, after passing the lagoon we started to enter the trail that would take us to our destination. And it is here that we reached another point (which I forgot to include on the map) which is the pine forest. Here the cold became tolerable thanks to the amount of pine trees blocking the wind and the exercise we had been doing, so it was easier to enjoy the incredible scenery we had all to ourselves.
Por suerte, después de pasar la laguna nos comenzamos a adentrar en el sendero que nos llevaría a nuestro destino. Y es aquí donde llegamos a otro punto (que olvidé incluir en el mapa) que es el bosque de pinos. Aquí el frío se hizo tolerable gracias a la cantidad de pinos que bloqueaban el viento y al ejercicio que veníamos haciendo, por lo que fue más fácil disfrutar del increíble paisaje que teníamos solo para nosotros.
I think this has been a trip with the most brutal photos and this is one of them ⬆️.

One and a half hours later... / Hora y media más tarde...
Almost two hours passed to reach our last point, the rain had stopped completely, but the cold did not give truce and it is understandable being more than 3,500 meters above sea level. At this point everyone was walking at their own pace, I had taken a good distance and I had the opportunity to see the Laguna Negra completely clear, you could see a small waterfall on one side and the background was a very dark color. But this did not last long, when my brother arrived a few minutes later everything was covered in white.
Casi dos horas pasaron para poder llegar a nuestro ultimo punto, la lluvia había cesado por completo, pero el frío no daba tregua y es comprensible estando a más de 3.500 metros sobre el nivel del mar. En este punto cada uno estaba caminando a su ritmo, yo había tomado una buena distancia y tuve la oportunidad de ver a la Laguna Negra completamente despejada, se veía una cascada pequeña a un lado y el fondo era de un color muy oscuro. Pero esto no duro mucho tiempo, cuando mi hermano llego unos minutos después todo estaba cubierto de blanco.

It was quite a VIP experience to sit by the shore of the lagoon and have lunch. Enjoying every bite and talking about the entire journey and what we had yet to see of this beautiful state. It was a moment to pause, breathe that pure and icy air and thank life for giving us this challenging journey.
Fue toda una experiencia VIP sentarnos a orillas de la laguna a almorzar. Disfrutando cada bocado y conversando acerca de todo el camino y lo que nos faltaba por conocer de ese hermoso estado. Fue un momento para hacer una pausa, respirar ese aire tan puro y helado y agradecerle a la vida por regalarnos esta retadora travesía.
On this trip I had no phone, no camera, no rock with which I could take pictures, so all the moments were fixed in my mind. The return was a little more tiring, we were walking with wet clothes and this time the road was uphill, but that did not take away the joy of achieving our goal.

El regreso si fue un poco más cansado, andábamos con la ropa mojada y esta vez el camino era en subida, pero eso no nos quito la dicha de lograr nuestro objetivo.
