Hello everyone 🤗
Today, I will show you the Karataş Cave and Karataş Restaurant, which witness a real and romantic love story and also has a healing mud. I continue to introduce you the touristic and must-see places of my country with pleasure. 🤗
Karataş Cave, which was opened to visitors in 2011 with the contributions of a citizen named Nasuh Karataş, who gave the cave its name, can be reached via the Isparta road. This cave, which is approximately 33 km away from the center of Antalya, is located in the village of Yeşilkaraman. When I went to this cave, whose entrance fee is only 15 TL, the number of visitors was low because it was not a well-known cave.
The cave was used to preserve weapons and to treat wounded soldiers with the healing mud found in the cave during the Sagalossos campaign in 333 BC during the reign of Alexander the Great.
At the entrance, there is a garden full of signs and a restaurant where you can eat delicious pancakes with cold buttermilk.
In this charming establishment, you can feel at home and eat delicious pancakes. Pancakes are cooked and served hot by the people of the village there.
While the smell of pancakes is cooking, you feel like you are a guest in a village house. Tables and floor cushions on the floor offer you a friendly and comfortable environment.
There were objects and sculptures reflecting the village culture completely in the enterprise. Handmade olives and pickles prepared by the local people were sold in this section.
The owners of the business there were really friendly and sincere people. They both gave me information about the cave and offered handmade jams as well as pancakes. It was very nice to see the hospitable face of the Anatolian people here.
Here, after filling my stomach with delicious pancakes, I set out for the cave entrance.
The real adventure started at the entrance to this cave. The cave has a large entrance. The story of the part called the devil's hole in this entrance is also very interesting. Legend has it that in the place where this hole is located, at certain times at night, demons would come and have fun. I can say that hearing this story made me startle even while I was here. 😅
I passed through the stairs beyond the entrance to a second hall-sized part. There were karst formations in the form of large hollows on the ceilings.
In this part, there was a mini bar with jugs and barrels and a section called Kerim Well. I learned what a Kerim well was when I read the sign below. This cave has witnessed a great true love story.
I got emotional even reading the story from the sign.🥺 Now come and listen to this love story from me.
Kerim and Elif are two young people in love with each other in the village of Yeşilkaraman. Elif is the daughter of a nomadic family and Kerim is one of the rebels. It is forbidden to marry rebels and nomads in the village. Their families opposed this love. They wanted to lynch them. Believing that there is a devil in this cave, they thought that no one could enter, and they escaped and entered this cave by saying basmala and hid. Elif and Kerim, who lived in this cave for 6 months. They drank the healing water of this cave. While escaping, Elif's family was injured. They healed their wounds with the healing mud in this cave. Kerim's mother took pity on the two lovers and gave them food by throwing food from the Kerim Well.
The two lovers went to the lake of peace at the end of the cave day and night and prayed for the reconciliation of their families. One night, Elif went out of the cave to look for her family, but she could not find her family and was very upset. His family migrated to another place because they lived as nomads. Later, these two families somehow reconciled and Elif and Kerim lived their love in peace.
- For the sake of their love, they spent 6 months in this cave and had a great love struggle. I commemorate Elif and Kerim with love from here.*
I can say that I had very fearful and adventurous moments while visiting this mysterious cave. While bats are flying around me
Even though my heart was pounding during the day, I managed to shoot this video for you with fear.🥳🥳
But as a Sagittarius, I love both excitement and traveling. I traveled all over this cave by video recording. You will feel the fear and excitement in my voice as I travel. You will even hear those thin high-pitched sounds of bats. Later, I learned from the locals that these bats were tiny fruit bats. So I was afraid of them for nothing. 🤗 Maybe they were afraid of me too, who knows. 😂
They were like swarms of bats coming towards visitors entering the dark cave, just like in the movies. There were so many bat voices that it was hard not to be afraid😳😳
The people of the village tried to find out how deep they would go into the cave with the white boat you see in this video. After about 10 meters, it was determined that the cave narrowed and the water was flowing underground. Again, in the trial conducted by the public, a few dyed straw packages were thrown from the part where this last waterfall was located and it was determined that it came out of the Kırkgöz Lake, which is about 30 kilometers away. I was surprised to know that the cave is this deep. The walking distance in the cave is about 210 meters.
In the middle of the cave, there is a section called the meeting room. In the meeting hall, the priest named St. Paulos came across this cave on the way from Aspendos to Yalvac in 46 AD, on the way to Isparta, and held secret meetings in this part of the cave to persuade the people around to become Christians. That's why this part is called the meeting room.
According to what I read from the plates in the cave, it is said that the mud in the cave is also healing. It is known that when Prophet Eyüp Aleyhisselam got skin disease, he treated his wounds with muddy water brought from this cave. The fact that the soldiers took shelter in this cave and treated their wounds during the Battle of Sakala sos proves that the mud in this cave is healing. The mud in the cave renews itself every year due to the flooding experienced in the cave 3 days a year. In times of flood, the cave is filled to the brim with water and entrances to the cave are prohibited. After the waters recede, the cave is cleaned by the people in charge of the cave and opened to tourists again.

After washing my face, I noticed that my skin was as soft as cotton. It has a very hard-to-clean structure when washing it. It's like red paint has flowed from my face. There are many people who use this mud, which heals thanks to the pigments in it, to beautify by using it as a clay mask, and it is forbidden to take it from the mud in the cave in order not to spoil the natural structure of the mud. I managed to get a piece of mud with permission from the cave attendant.
Yes, friends, we have come to the end of the cave. In the last part of the cave, there is the Peace Lake, where Kerim and Elif pray for their families to reconcile. It is thought that the water of this lake, which resembles a small waterfall known to flow from underground sources, goes for 32 kilometers underground. For this, a painted straw hole was made and straw came out of Kırkgöz Lake, 32 kilometers away. It was determined that when one proceeds from the Peace Lake with the small white boat found here, the cave narrows after about 20 meters and the water passes underground.
I took so many pictures of the cave that what you see here is only a third of these pictures. That's why I leave you the pictures that I like very much, I hope you enjoyed reading my Karataş cave adventure.

Bugün sizlere gerçek ve romantik bir aşk hikayesine tanıklık yapan ayrıca şifalı bir çamura sahip olan Karataş Mağarası'nı ve Karataş Restaurantı gezdireceğim. Sizlere ülkemin turistik ve gezilmesi gereken yerlerini keyifle tanıtmaya devam ediyorum. 🤗
2011 yılında mağaraya ismini veren Nasuh Karataş isimli vatandaşın katkılarıyla ziyarete açılan Karataş Mağarası'na Isparta yolu üzerinden gidiliyor. Antalya merkeze yaklaşık 33 km uzaklıkta bulunan bu mağara Yeşilkaraman isimli köyde bulunuyor. Giriş ücreti sadece 15 TL olan bu mağaraya gittiğimde çok bilinen bir mağara olmadığı için ziyaretçi sayısı azdı.
Mağara, MÖ 333 yılında Büyük İskender döneminde yapılan Sagalossos çıkarmasında silahların muhafaza edilmesi ve yaralı askerlerin mağarada bulunan şifalı çamurla tedavi edilmesi amacıyla kullanılmıştır.
Girişte tabelalara dolu bir bahçe ve soğuk yayık ayranı ile birlikte nefis gözlemeler yiyebileceğiniz bir işletme bulunmakta.
Bu şirin işletmede kendinizi evinizde gibi hissedip nefis gözlemelerden yiyebilirsiniz. Gözlemeler orada bulunan köy halkı tarafından sıcak sıcak pişirilip, servis yapılıyor.
Gözlemelerin kokusu pişerken kendinizi tam bir köy evinde misafir olmuş gibi hissediyorsunuz. Yerde bulunan sofralar ve yer minderleri size samimi ve rahat bir ortam sunuyor.
İşletmede tamamen köy kültürünü yansıtan objeler ve heykeller vardı. Yerel halkın hazırlamış oldukları el yapımı zeytinler, turşular bu kısımda satılmaktaydı.
Orada bulunan işletme sahipleri gerçekten çok güler yüzlü ve samimi insanlardı. Bana hem mağara hakkında bilgiler verdiler hem de gözlemenin yanında el yapımı reçellerden ikram ettiler. Burada Anadolu halkının misafirperver yüzünü görmek çok güzeldi.
Burada karnımı nefis gözlemelerle doyurduktan sonra mağara girişine doğru yola çıktım.
İşte asıl macera bu mağaraya girişte başladı. Mağaranın büyük bir girişi var. Bu girişte şeytan deliği denilen kısmın öyküsü de çok ilginç. Rivayete göre bu deliğin bulunduğu yerde geceleri belirli saatlerde şeytanlar gelerek eğlence yaparlarmış. Bu öyküyü duymak beni burada bulunurken bile ürkmeme neden oldu diyebilirim. 😅
Giriş kısmının ilerisinde bulunan merdivenlerden ikinci bir salon büyüklüğündeki kısma geçtim. Tavanlarda büyük oyuk şeklinde karstik oluşumlar vardı.
Bu kısımda da testi ve fıçıların bulunduğu mini bir bar ve Kerim Kuyusu adı verilen bir bölüm bulunmaktaydı. Kerim kuyusunun ne olduğunu aşağıdaki tabelayı okuyunca öğrendim. Bu mağara çok büyük gerçek bi aşk hikayesine tanıklık yapmış.
Hikayeyi tabeladan okurken bile duygulandım.🥺 Şimdi gelin bu aşk hikayesini bir de benden dinleyin.🥰
Kerim ile Elif Yeşilkaraman köyü sınırları içinde birbirlerine aşık iki gençtir. Elif göçebe bir ailenin kızı, Kerim ise Asi'lerdendir. Köyde Asi'ler ile göçebelerin evlenmesi yasaklanmıştır. Aileleri bu aşka karşı çıkmış. Onları linç etmek istemişlerdir. Onlar da bu mağarada şeytan olduğu inancıyla kimsenin giremeyeceğini düşünüp kaçarak bu mağaraya besmele çekerek girmişler ve saklanmışlar. 6 ay boyunca bu mağarada yaşayan Elif ile Kerim. Bu mağaranın şifalı suyundan içmişler. Onları kaçarken Elif'in ailesi yaralamış. Bu mağarada bulunan şifalı çamur ile yaralarını iyilestirmişler. Kerim'in annesi iki aşığa acımış ve Kerim Kuyusundan onlara yiyecekler atarak beslenmelerini sağlamış.
İki aşık gece gündüz mağaranın sonunda bulunan barış gölüne giderek ailelerinin barışması için dua etmişlerdir. Bir gece Elif mağaradan çıkarak ailesini aramaya gitmiş ancak ailesini bulamamış ve çok üzülmüştûr. Ailesi göçebe olarak yaşadığı için başka bir yere göçmüş. Daha sonra bu iki aile bir şekilde barışmış ve Elif ile Kerim aşklarını huzurla yaşamışlar.
Aşkları uğruna bu mağarada 6 ay geçirerek büyük bir aşk mücadelesi vermişler. Elif ile Kerim'i buradan sevgi ile anıyorum.
Bu esrarengiz mağarayı gezerken çok korkulu ve maceralı anlar yaşadığımı söyleyebilirim. Etrafımda yarasalar çik çik çik diye uçuşurken
kalbim gün güm çarpsa da bu videoyu sizler için korka korka çekmeyi başardım.🥳🥳
Ama bir yay burcu olarak hem heyecanı hem gezmeyi çok seviyorum. Bu mağaranın her tarafını video kaydı alarak gezdim. Gezerken sesimdeki korkuyu ve heyecanı siz de hissedeceksiniz. Hatta yarasaların o ince tiz seslerini siz de duyacaksınız. Sonradan orada bulunan yerli halktan bu yarasaların minik meyve yarasası olduğunu öğrendim. Yani onlardan boş yere korkmuşum. 🤗 Belki onlar da benden korktular kimbilir. 😂
Aynı filmlerdeki gibi karanlık mağaraya giren ziyaretçilerin üstüne doğru gelen yarasa sürüleri gibiydiler. O kadar çok yarasa sesi vardı ki korkmamak elde değildi.😳😳
Köy halkı bu videoda gördüğünüz beyaz kayık ile mağaranın nekadar derinine ineceklerini öğrenmeye çalışmışlar. Yaklaşık 10 metre sonra mağaranın daraldığı ve suyun yer altından aktığı tespit edilmiş. Yine halk tarafından yapılan denemede bu son şelalenin bulunduğu kısımdan boyalı birkaç saman paketi atılmış ve yaklaşık 30 kilometre ötede bulunan Kırkgöz gölünün içinden çıktığı tespit edilmiştir. Mağaranın bu kadar derin olduğunu bilmek beni şaşırttı. Mağaradaki yürüme mesafesi yaklaşık 210 metre civarında.
Mağaranın orta kısımlarında toplantı salonu isimli bir kısım bulunmakta. Toplantı salonunda Aziz Paulos isimli rahip MS 46 yılında Aspendos'tan Yalvac'a giderken Isparta yolu üzerinde bu mağaraya rastlamış ve çevredeki halkı Hristiyan olmaları konusunda ikna etmek için mağaranın bu kısmında gizli toplantılar düzenlemiştir. Bu yüzden bu kısma toplantı salonu denmiştir.
Mağarada bulunan levhalardan okuduğuma göre mağarada bulunan çamurun da şifalı olduğu söylenmektedir. Hz Eyüp Aleyhisselam cilt hastalığına yakalandığı zaman bu mağaradan getirttiği çamurlu su ile yaralarını tedavi ettiği bilinmektedir. Sakala sos Savaşı'nda da askerlerin bu mağaraya sığınarak yaralarını tedavi etmeleri bu mağaradaki çamurun şifalı olduğunu kanıtlamaktadır. Mağaradaki çamur her yıl senede 3 gün mağarada yaşanan sel taşkını nedeniyle yenilenerek kendisini yenilemektedir. Mağara sel baskını olduğu zamanlarda ağzına kadar su ile dolmakta ve mağaraya girişler yasaklanmaktadır. Sular çekildikten sonra mağara mağarada görevli olan kişiler tarafından temizlenerek tekrardan turistlerin ziyaretine açılmaktadır.
Mağaradaki çamuru elime aldığımda alçı kıvamında kıpkırmızı bir renk olduğunu görüyorum. Çamur almak yasak olduğu için mağara görevlisinden çok az bir miktar almak için izin aldım ve poşet ile sararak eve götürdüm ve evde yüzüme sürdüm. Yaklaşık 20 dakika cildimde beklettikten sonra cildimi yıkadım.
Yüzümü yıkadıktan sonra cildimin pamuk gibi yumuşacık olduğunu fark ettim. Yıkarken çok zor arınan bir yapısı var. Yüzümden kıpkırmızı boya aktı sanki. İçerisindeki pigmentler sayesinde şifa dağıtan bu çamuru kil maskesi gibi kullanarak güzelleşmek için kullanan birçok kişi olduğundan ve çamurun doğal yapısının bozulmaması için mağaradaki çamurdan almak yasaklanmıştır. Ben mağara görevlisinden izin alarak bir parça çamur almayı başardım.🤗
Evet arkadaşlar mağaranın sonuna geldik. Mağaranın son kısmında Kerim ile Elif'in ailelerinin barışması için dua ettiği Barış gölü bulunmaktadır. Yeraltı kaynaklarından aktığı bilinen küçük şelaleyi andıran bu gölün suyu yeraltından 32 kilometre boyunca gittiği düşünülmektedir. Bunun için boyalı saman deliği yapılmış ve saman 32 kilometre ileride bulunan Kırkgöz gölünün içinden çıkmıştır. Burada bulunan beyaz küçük sandalla Barış Gölü'nden ilerlendiği zaman mağaranın yaklaşık 20 metre sonra daralarak son bulduğu ve suyun yer altından geçiş yaptığı tespit edilmiştir.
Mağaraya ait o kadar çok resim çektim ki şu an burada gördükleriniz bu resimlerin sadece üçte biri kadardır Bu yüzden size çok beğendiğim resimleri de aşağıda bırakıyorum umarım Karataş mağarası maceramı okurken keyif almışsınızdır.
Bu yazımı neredeyse 4 gün boyunca sizler için hazırlamaya çalıştım. Sadece resimleri düzenlemek animasyonları ayarlamak 2 günümü aldı. Ben bunları yaparken büyük keyif aldım.🤗 Umarım siz de okurken keyif alır ve güzel yorumlar bırakırsınız.

What a cool cave! I don’t have many opportunities to explore caves so felt like I was there with you while reading your post. I liked reading the love story.
The water flooding would have freaked me out! I have slight claustrophobia and can’t swim, so add both and I might panic 😅
Looks like a fun and adventurous time though and would love to check this out someday!
