From Morning to Evening - The Second Part - An Evening Walk - A Day in Balchik, Bulgaria.

in Pinmapple3 years ago

Holidays and travels have become so necessary to our lives. I see this all the more now that the world situation caused by this pandemic impedes the normal movement of people. Every time such unpleasant things happen in our lives we think with regret that we did not take more advantage of the time when we could do more. Of course, you never know what awaits you in the future, it can be a good thing, although usually more unpleasant than good things happen.
Maybe not, but we humans tend to forget the good things more easily and remember the bad ones more.

Fortunately, I managed to make a few short trips last year. Short but long enough to take me to the beach a few times. The sea is my great passion and my hope is to get close to it every year. My travels last on average 3-5 days but then the rest of the year I only think about how it was. The last trip to the sea was in September last year and I partially talked about it here From Morning to Evening - Part one - Morning Walk - A Day in Balchik, Bulgaria.

About a morning walk in Balchik, the city on the Black Sea in Bulgaria.

I like the mornings and evenings the most when I'm at sea. Because I can't stand the deadly heat of the midday sun too easily. After talking about the morning walk, now it's time for the evening walk, almost on the same route. I find it interesting to be able to make a comparison to the way the promenade and the sea are seen in the morning and in the evening (night). That's what I'm going to do now...

This post is a continuation of the post mentioned above and for a better understanding and to be able to compare the image of day and night it would be good to read the post mentioned above.

Thinking that maybe you don't have time for that, I have to say something about Balchik. This is a small town in Bulgaria, a small port on the Black Sea, located about 60 km from Varna, the big port city of Bulgaria. As long as someone wants to get to Balchik, the easiest thing to do is to get to Varna and then it will be very easy.

I live in Bucharest, the capital of Romania and fortunately I can get to Balchik in three and a half hours by car.

Balchik has a great attraction for Romanian tourists because it also belonged to the Kingdom of Romania for a period of thirty years, in the first part of the twentieth century. At that time, Queen Maria of Romania built a summer residence in this city, a small castle surrounded by vast and wonderful gardens. This castle is the most important tourist attraction in the area.

The walk we talked about in the first part stopped near the Castle. Although it is not really chronological, I will continue the walk to the promenade of the resort and to the hotel after the evening. This is because most of the old buildings, starting with the Castle of Queen Maria, are very beautifully lit and other beauties are highlighted.

The gardens stretch over many hectares and border the promenade on which tourists walk. After the night settles in, the walk is adorned with colorful lights that are projected on buildings, trees and the garden fence.

Six villas are built in the castle garden, one for each of the queen's children. Prince Nicolae's villa is one of the most beautiful, both day and night.

Behind the fence is now the rose garden. The flowers are not seen now, at night but instead you see the baths, in fact a small pool also called the Water Temple. It was the place where the queen rested away from the hot rays of the sun.

The green light projected on the trees enhances both their beauty and their fairytale sensation.

We reached the end of the gardens and now we follow the alley by the sea to return to the commercial and entertainment area of the resort.

Darkness covered the beach.

Shops and terraces are now sought after by tourists who go for a walk after the afternoon rest.

The children are the happiest. They get almost everything they want and the temptations are many...

Beyond playing and running next to the parents, everyone is hungry, both big and small. There are many terraces and restaurants and because tourists are relatively few, each owner invites you to eat on his terrace. It remains to be seen how much you were inspired in the choice.

Those who ate now choose to walk. It is the most pleasant moment for a walk, it is cool and quiet, the crowds in the middle of summer are far away. Now it feels like the end of the season is approaching.

I really like this quiet atmosphere, in the evening when you can walk and you can stay a little with your thoughts. Many feel the same. Balchik is not a resort for noisy entertainment, it is a resort for children and retirees. Of course, and their parents, grandchildren and their dogs.

The sea. Let's not forget the sea which is now in darkness but which is heard permanently. She is the queen now!

Fatigue grips us slowly. The sea makes us tired. A very pleasant fatigue. After such a long walk we need rest and return to the hotel which, fortunately, is very close.

From the balcony of the room we look at the sea that is now further away from us but which can still be heard, we hear the waves breaking on the shore.
When we started the morning walk we followed the same route. I wanted the two walks, morning and evening, to be in the same places, to see how they change depending on the light. Sunlight and artificial light bulbs.

One of the pleasures guilty or innocent. Seaside holiday! I'm thinking about the next one as soon as the current one ends. I'm afraid to think about how many vacancies of this kind I have left. Although the current information is not very encouraging about the covid-19 pandemic, I still hope that at least in late summer and early fall we will be able to travel more safely.

Trips to the sea are not as spectacular as those to the mountains, in terms of landscapes. At sea, people are landscapes. That's why we chose to present in such a personal way, to show what we liked, what we did and besides to see what we saw. In case you never get to Balchik, I tried to be your eyes.

This blog is also a premiere for me because I only used photos taken at night.
