Moalboal is located at the south of Cebu Province which is 3-4 hours ride depending on what vehicle (accessible by public bus, vans, private vehicle, motorcycle) you'll take. I blogged about this before when I was with my friends. I made a short video and you can see it here. Moalboal is one of the tourists' favorites as well as locals. Pretty chill, has lots of activities you can do, good food, party places, affordable rates and friendly locals.

I have been kind of stressed out and anxious lately and was looking forward to this quick out of the city trip with @indayclara and @ybanezkim26. They went to Moalboal earlier and I catch up by commuting all by myself!!! Yep, it was my first time riding the public bus alone to the south of Cebu. It was a big thing for me because I am always scared of travelling alone lol It's because I fear of getting lost, get in danger or accident. (overthinker 🤣)

After my work, I went home to get my bag then went straight to the bus terminal. I was pretty amazed when I got to the bus terminal, it has been so long since the last time I went there. I remembered it was unorganized, people lining up anywhere, old-fashioned ticket booth but now they have these transit machines where you scan the QR code of your receipt to get pass the main entrance. My main point is, I'm proud if my hometown starts using technology to make process more efficient and convenient for everyone lol.

I wanted to ride the airconditioned bus but they said I had to wait for 30mins. I can't wait any longer so I rode the bus without aircon. The ticket for non-aircon costs around 3 USD and for aircon 4 USD which is a pretty small difference. It was around 1:30pm when I rode the bus and I got to Moalboal tourism office at around 4:30pm. It was a pretty nice ride except for the fact that the sun's heat was directly hitting my face in my side of the bus. 😓 Imagine me sweating, drooling and squinting my eyes when I woke up. BWHAHHAHA 🤣

I MADE IT!

When going to MOALBOAL, one should drop by the tourism office to get a tourist slip pass which is around 0.5 USD. But when I got there it was closed so I just took a picture to show the security in checkpoint areas. I rode a "habal-habal" which is a public motorcycle ride to get to Pescador View Beach Resort where the 3 of us will be staying for the next 2 nights. The rider initially asked for 1.5 USD but you can haggle with the fare, so I end up paying 1 USD for the ride (this is okay to do, as some riders will charge more esp. if you are a tourist but still its up to you if you feel generous why not right? 😁 but I was on a tight budget sooo... gonna go with the regular rate 🤣).

You'll see in this collage the nipa hut that we were staying and the beautiful view we have of the beachfront where we can see the sunset.

Around 5pm, we all got dressed and went to Secret Paradise Resort for dinner and night swimming! While waiting for our food, we had our drinks served first. Kim had mango juice, Claire had coffee and I had my favorite beach buddy - RED HORSE BEER EXTRA STRONG! 🤣 The three kinds of people. HAHAHA

We planned to sleep early so we can get up in the morning for freediving but we ended up sleeping at midnight. Claire was busy editing her vlog, Kim was playing splinterlands and I was just there lying down and waiting for them to give me attention. 🤣

LET'S FIND THEM SEA TURTLESSSS!

I met a fellow hiver @sabanalchristian who was our guide and videographer for the freedive! To get to Turtle bay, we had to walk by the sea shore for around 30-40 minutes. Yep, we had to walk but I think there's another way, probably passing through a different resort with access there. The walk was fun though, we were just singing, talking, laughing our way, each one of us falling down because of the slippery rocks 🤣

The next day we went freediving in Pamagsama beach where one of the tourist spots called Sardines Run was located. Nearby was also the mermaid statue which was perfect for underwater photos.

If you want to see awesome freediving videos, better follow Freediving community , @ybanezkim26, @indayclara and @sabanalchristian ! 😄 I didn't have much clips freediving with the turtles cause I had to relearn how to freedive again. I wasn't confident yet but I saw 6 of them!!! It was so nice to just watch them swim, so calming and beautiful. Watch out for Kim and Claire's videos during their dive with the turtles!!!

Meeting fellow HIVERS!.png

What better way to energize than having good lunch by the beach! We had grilled pork belly, chicken guisado and vegetables! We also had to get some ice cream to cool down from the heat.

In the afternoon, we went out to find the Moalboal Dog Rescue shelter which was close to where we were staying, just a few minutes riding a tricycle. Claire had this advocacy to help dog shelters in memory of her baby Ginger which was also a rescued dog. We are currently doing a donation drive as an end of the year celebration. You can watch our videos here:

If you go to Moalboal, it's nice if you can drop by this place and play with the dogs and puppies there! Add this to your list! 😃

We then had a nice pizza + pasta dinner. All thanks to these generous hiver friends for the treat! The food was affordable for a pretty big serving. We had some good laugh and serious conversation. It was nice to get to know Kim and Claire more and I hope they feel the same towards me although I know I am kind of annoying to be with. BWAHAHA 🤷‍♀

On our last day at Moalboal, we went to visit other hivers!! I met @discoveringarni , @iamyohann and their daughter! Arni made a delicious lunch for us, really sweet of her to prepare so many dishes! Thank you again 😁 I had a fun time talking with her daughter who was really sociable, charming and smart. She showed me her artworks, her toys and colorful pens. I asked her to draw a star on my hand just like the stamp she had on her hand. She also introduced me to her playmates/neighbors and walked with me around their village. For sure looking forward for the next meeting with their family!

We went to the bus terminal in the late afternoon and got back to the city early evening. We were all exhausted but excited to come back again soon especially to give out the donations accumulated for the animal shelter. ☺️

IN SUMMARY, WHEN YOU GO TO MOALBOAL YOU CAN:
  1. Freedive and enjoy the sea creatures, corals, and the underwater world!
  2. Eat good food! Explore the local food we have too!
  3. Talk to the people, make new friends!
  4. Visit the animal shelter!
  5. Walk, shop, relax and chill!

Thanks for joining me and reading til the end! Til the next trip! Message me anytime if you have questions, or if you're in cebu!
