The Albert Park was created around 1898 as the "King Albert Park" from a triangular wooded area of approximately 118 hectares between Fischhausstraße, Bautzner Straße and Schneise 18. Over a period of more than a century, numerous architectural and artistic objects have been erected here to encourage people to seek recreation in nature and to engage in sports and games.

The historic Fischhaus is one of the oldest inns in Dresden. As early as 1476, the Augustinian monks of Dresden received permission to drain the clear water for their monastery at this location and to create fish breeding ponds. The residence of the pond keeper has been called the Fischhaus ever since. Since 1650, when the district forester already resided here, a liquor license was granted. The Fischhaus established itself as a place to stop for refreshments and with its beautiful ambience is still worth a visit today.

Degele-Quelle

The Degele spring was filled in 1884 and named after its sponsor, the royal Saxon court opera singer Eugen Degele. Court opera singer Eugen Degele. Below the Degele Spring, the master builder Lehnert created the Sister Spring in connection with the construction of the water pipe to the Friedbad.

Once this lookout tower on the Wolfshügel, built by the Dresden council builder, must have been very magnificent. Unfortunately, only the foundation is preserved, because the tower was blown up in 1945. Whether by the Wehrmacht or by the Red Army is not exactly known.
