First thing: the title of this text is a lie. Acctually, I lived in Lisbon/ Cascais for a year and a half. During that time, I could be at some wonderful places, hear about some other ones and know the little secrets to avoid any trouble. In my lasts months living there, my girlfriend met me to spend some time together.

Our travel can be divided in tree regions: Geres, Lisbon and Algarve. As I was living in Lisbon and you can arrive at Portugal from Brazil just by the capital, we used the city as a HQ. After she arrived, we some some days in Lisbon, then we went to Geres for 4 days before coming back. More 3 days at Lisbon, we went down for Algarve for more 4 days. We could spent more 3 days together at Lisbon, before she leaves back do Brazil.
In this text, I will focus on the places that we visisted during the time at Lisbon. I will keep the chronolical order, but remember that it has some gaps. Other point that is very important to say it's that this trip was not our first time at the Portugal. I was living there formore than 16 months she had already been there with her family, this means that the main turistic places and routes were already known.
What we did was not something very special and unique, but you won't see a lot of historical museums or palaces around the cities.
So, you need a car
It's very important to say: to follow this guide, you must go by car. There are public options, but it will make you trip much harder. And you won't be able to explore the little corners off the main way that the country can provide. And, for sure, there are a lot of them there.
On our first stay at Lisbon, I was still living in Cascais - after we came back of our trip to Geres, I had already moved to Belém - so we took the chance to go around the neighborhood. During the day, we went to Cresmina, one of the beaches of Cascais that are surronded by a natural reserve. There, you can see a wonderful sunset, surf some waves and enjoy a good time.

At our first night out, we went to Rua Amarela, a street in the center of Cascais that has a lot of bars and restaurants. Cascais isn't known for the parties and night life, so that's the place if you want more movement.
As sugestion, I really recommend to walk till there, you can park your car or get your uber until the main street (yellow mark on the map). I say that for two reasons: the streets to get there are very narrow and it's not easy to drive. But the main reason is that you can go up the street by feet, seeing the beatiful and cute decoration of the old houses.

We didn't arrive very early, it was something about 10 pm when we got there, but it was still crowded. We found a place at a mexican place, Malacopa (to eat and drink some margueritas. Unfortunately, the place had a dark decoration with low lights and the photos didn't look very good.
Although, the food and drinks were awesome! Everything was perfect, there were some people singing and dancing, such a good vibe. Just until the Police arrive at midnight, when you are obligated to turn everything off to avoid making noise all night.
Acctualy, it was a funny momment to see a officer coming in the bar, we thought that was a guy with a costume 😁

On the next day, our journey with the car began: we would rent one to visit some places near Lisbon. Our adventure started even before we arrived at the rental company. To make save some money, we reserved the cheapest car avaiable. Although none of us has driven a manual car for ages, we thought that it wouldn't be a problem for just 2 days.
We were very anxious for the experience, and fortunaly, when we got at the rental, we got a free upgrade ;) Hybrid engine, full automatic, SUV, ... I'm not that tall, but driving up and dow on a small car it's not something my back really aprecciate.

Our first destination after get the car was Setúbal, to visit the region of the Arribida Natural Park. It's a trip of 40min from the center of Lisbon and you need to cross south the Tejo River. On the way, we passed on the supermarket and bought some food and water to spend the day at the beach.
If you don't have a car, you can get there also. But I don't know how many hours you will take...

So, I've already been there a few times, but there are some different beaches that you can visit. A fun fact is that I really don't know the name of the place that we stood. We parked and walked along the road until we could go down the cliffs. There we found a spot to spend our afternoon, swim, laugh and enjoy the clear blue water. I don't know why, but the water is "bluer" there than in other places.

On the way back, I make sure we passed in Costa da Caparica, another place that I used to go often to surf while I lived in Portugal. There are some restaurants, movement on the street, a sidewalk near the beach with kiosks, ... We chose a sea food bar/ restaurant to finish our day. Unfortunaley, due our starving condition, there isn't pictures. Just these of our sunset view:
...and Up
The next day, we took the car and went north, to Sintra. Our main destination was on of the most beatiful beaches I've ever seen: Praia da Ursa. As our destination of the da before, it's a place where you can go by public transport, but it's much easier to go by car. First, because you can stop in a lot of places with amazing views on the way from Lisbon, find a restaurant or a bar to make your lunch, ... And second, but most important, you can get home faster after going out the beach.

It's not hard to get to the beach, you just need look for Cabo da Roca, the most western point of continental Europe. There, you can start the trail down to the beach. It's not very hard, it looks like a big staircase and takes about 30 - 40 minutes to finish.
But look at this view... It's irresistible...
Due the difficult access, the beach is never full of people, you can find your own spot between the rocks and enjoy your tie in peace, wondering how the nature can be so fascinating.
After we came back, we pass by Cabo da Roca, just because it's right next to it, before going back to Lisbon.

This was one of the days I most enjoyed during all of our time in portuguese land.
The old fashioned turism
The other days spent in Lison were much more calm, since we were already travelling to Algarve and Geres, and I had to work (homeoffice) on the lasts days of our travel. We used our free time to go to some restaurants, walk by the city, visit touristic atractions, ... I will describe here a little bit of how a day like that used to be:
We didn't have hurry, our mornings were often lazy. We kept in the bed till 10:30, talking about what we did, planning our day, eating something like a yogurt, just to have enough energy to start the day. After that, we walked through the old streets of the city towards our first stop: a brunch restaurant.
Açai, scrumbled eggs, veggie wrap, mushroomns, ... A good way to start the day/ Açaí, ovos mexidos, wrap vegetariano, suco de laranja, ... Um bom jeito de começar o dia
After that, we usually kept walking, passing by famous places during the day. It could be a museum, a turistic spot or just a place full of history in the heart of the city. Lisbon is, for sure, one the best places in the world to have a walk without a destination.

On the end of hte day, we used to look for a place to eat and drink something, perhaps enjoy some music, or just see people passing by. Portugal is known for the food, which is awesome if you like to try different tastes. And of course, for its cheap wine!
You can have a delicious pizza, or have a drink in a bar where everything is pink, and still being impacted by the art and history of the country.

Primeiro de tudo: o título deste texto é uma mentira. Na verdade, eu morei em Lisboa/Cascais por um ano e meio. Durante esse tempo, pude estar em alguns lugares maravilhosos, ouvir sobre outros e conhecer os pequenos segredos para evitar problemas. Nos meus últimos meses morando lá, minha namorada me encontrou para passarmos algum tempo juntos.
Nossa viagem pode ser dividida em três regiões: Geres, Lisboa e Algarve. Como eu estava morando em Lisboa e é possível chegar a Portugal do Brasil apenas pela capital, usamos a cidade como sede. Depois que ela chegou, passamos alguns dias em Lisboa, depois fomos para Geres por 4 dias antes de voltarmos. Mais 3 dias em Lisboa, descemos para o Algarve por mais 4 dias. Pudemos passar mais 3 dias juntos em Lisboa, antes de ela voltar para o Brasil.
Neste texto, vou me concentrar nos lugares que visitamos durante o tempo em Lisboa. Manterei a ordem cronológica, mas lembre-se de que há algumas lacunas. Outro ponto muito importante a ser dito é que esta viagem não foi a nossa primeira vez em Portugal. Eu morava lá há mais de 16 meses e ela já havia estado lá com sua família, o que significa que os principais lugares turísticos e rotas já eram conhecidos.
O que fizemos não foi algo muito especial e único, mas você não verá muitos museus históricos ou palácios ao redor das cidades.
Então, você precisa de um carro
É muito importante dizer: para seguir este guia, você precisa ir de carro. Existem opções públicas, mas isso tornará sua viagem muito mais difícil. E você não poderá explorar os cantos escondidos fora do caminho principal que o país pode oferecer. E, com certeza, há muitos deles lá.
Em nossa primeira estadia em Lisboa, eu ainda estava morando em Cascais - depois que voltamos de nossa viagem a Geres, eu já havia me mudado para Belém - então aproveitamos a chance para passear pelas redondezas. Durante o dia, fomos a Cresmina, uma das praias de Cascais que é cercada por uma reserva natural. Lá, você pode ver um pôr do sol maravilhoso, surfar algumas ondas e aproveitar um bom tempo.
Na nossa primeira noite, fomos à Rua Amarela, uma rua no centro de Cascais que tem muitos bares e restaurantes. Cascais não é conhecida pelas festas e vida noturna, então esse é o lugar se você quer mais movimento.
Como sugestão, recomendo muito caminhar até lá, você pode estacionar seu carro ou pegar seu Uber até a rua principal (olhar no mapa). Eu digo isso por duas razões: as ruas para chegar lá são muito estreitas e não é fácil dirigir. Mas a principal razão é que você pode subir a rua a pé, vendo a decoração bonita e fofa das casas antigas.
Não chegamos muito cedo, era algo em torno das 22h quando chegamos lá, mas ainda estava lotado. Encontramos um lugar em um restaurante mexicano, Malacopa (para comer e beber algumas margaritas). Infelizmente, o lugar tinha uma decoração escura com luzes baixas e as fotos não ficaram muito boas.
No entanto, a comida e as bebidas eram incríveis! Tudo estava perfeito, havia algumas pessoas cantando e dançando, uma vibe muito boa. Só até a polícia chegar à meia-noite, quando você é obrigado a desligar tudo para evitar fazer barulho a noite toda.
Na verdade, foi engraçado ver um policial entrando no bar, pensamos que era um cara com uma fantasia 😁

No dia seguinte, nossa jornada com o carro começou: alugamos um para visitar alguns lugares perto de Lisboa. Nossa aventura começou antes mesmo de chegarmos à locadora. Para economizar dinheiro, reservamos o carro mais barato disponível. Embora nenhum de nós tenha dirigido um carro manual por anos, pensamos que isso não seria um problema por apenas 2 dias.
Estávamos muito ansiosos pela experiência e, felizmente, quando chegamos ao local de locação, ganhamos um upgrade gratuito ;) Motor híbrido, automático completo, SUV, ... Não sou muito alto, mas dirigir subindo e descendo em um carro pequeno não é algo que minha coluna realmente aprecie.
Nosso primeiro destino depois de pegar o carro foi Setúbal, para visitar a região do Parque Natural da Arrábida. É uma viagem de 40 minutos a partir do centro de Lisboa e você precisa cruzar o Tejo para o sul. No caminho, passamos no supermercado e compramos comida e água para passar o dia na praia.
Se você não tem um carro, também pode chegar lá. Mas não sei quantas horas levará...
Então, eu já havia estado lá algumas vezes, mas existem algumas praias diferentes que você pode visitar. Um fato divertido é que eu realmente não sei o nome do lugar em que ficamos. Estacionamos e caminhamos ao longo da estrada até chegar nas falésias. Lá encontramos um lugar para passar a tarde, nadar, rir e aproveitar a água azul cristalina. Não sei por que, mas a água é mais azul lá do que em outros lugares.
Na volta, certifiquei-me de que passamos em Costa da Caparica, outro lugar onde costumava surfar enquanto morava em Portugal. Há alguns restaurantes, movimento na rua, um calçadão perto da praia com quiosques, ... Escolhemos um bar/restaurante de frutos do mar para terminar nosso dia. Infelizmente, devido à nossa condição de famintos, não há fotos. Só uma da nossa vista do restaurante com pôr do sol
...e Para Cima
No dia seguinte, pegamos o carro e fomos para o norte, em direção a Sintra. Nosso principal destino era uma das praias mais bonitas que já vi: a Praia da Ursa. Como nosso destino do dia anterior, é um lugar onde você pode chegar de transporte público, mas é muito mais fácil ir de carro. Primeiro, porque você pode parar em vários lugares com vistas incríveis no caminho de Lisboa, encontrar um restaurante ou um bar para almoçar, ... E segundo, mas mais importante, você pode voltar mais rápido para casa depois de sair da praia.
Não é difícil chegar à praia, basta procurar pelo Cabo da Roca, o ponto mais ocidental da Europa continental. Lá, você pode começar a trilha que leva até a praia. Não é muito pesada, parece uma grande escadaria e leva cerca de 30 a 40 minutos para terminar.
Mas a vista te convida a fazer a trilha... É irresistível...
Devido ao acesso difícil, a praia nunca está cheia de pessoas, você pode encontrar seu próprio lugar entre as rochas e desfrutar de seu tempo em paz, imaginando como a natureza pode ser tão fascinante.
Depois que voltamos, passamos pelo Cabo da Roca, apenas porque fica bem próximo, antes de voltarmos para Lisboa.
Este foi um dos dias que mais aproveitei durante todo o tempo que estivemos em terras portuguesas.
O turismo à moda antiga
Os outros dias que passamos em Lisboa foram muito mais calmos, já que estávamos viajando para Algarve e Geres e aproveitamos para descansar também e eu tinha que trabalhar (home office) nos últimos dias da nossa viagem. Usamos nosso tempo livre para ir a alguns restaurantes, passear pela cidade, visitar atrações turísticas, ... Eu descreverei aqui um pouco de como era um dia assim:
Não tínhamos pressa, nossas manhãs eram frequentemente preguiçosas. Ficávamos na cama até às 10h30, conversando sobre o que fizemos, planejando nosso dia, comendo algo como um iogurte, apenas para ter energia suficiente para começar o dia. Depois disso, caminhávamos pelas ruas antigas da cidade em direção ao nosso primeiro destino: um restaurante de brunch.
Em seguida, costumávamos continuar caminhando, passando por lugares famosos durante o dia. Poderia ser um museu, um ponto turístico ou apenas um lugar cheio de história no coração da cidade. Lisboa é, com certeza, um dos melhores lugares do mundo para passear sem um destino definido.
No final do dia, costumávamos procurar um lugar para comer e beber algo, talvez desfrutar de música ou apenas ver as pessoas passando. Portugal é conhecido pela comida, que é incrível se você gosta de experimentar diferentes sabores. E, claro, pelo seu vinho barato!
Você pode ter uma pizza deliciosa ou tomar uma bebida em um bar onde tudo é rosa e ainda ser impactado pela arte e história do país.

Lisbon is one of my favorite city. There is so my diversity, and the food is indeed amazing. There was not enough time to try everything that I wanted to try 😁
I haven't been to those other places, but I have a friend who goes to Portugal every day and I'm sure that she saw them already 😉
