Discover Vietnam's Largest Clay Tunnel - Unique Architecture With Charming Beauty 💕

in Pinmapple2 years ago

Hello everyone. Is there anything special about your day? Hope everything goes well and hope you have a great weekend.

As usual, early in the morning I prepare myself a glass of warm water mixed with honey lemon to recharge for a new day. After that, I sat down with you to work to solve the year-end tasks because only 2 weeks left until Tet holiday in Vietnam, the biggest holiday of the year. Around this time, everyone feels jubilant and boisterous to get ready for a good start to the new year. I also try to get everything done as early as possible in the old year. In the afternoon, everything was resolved, because I still have free time, so I went to see my Blog on Hive and wanted to write a new post to share with everyone. For me, writing articles on Hive is like keeping a diary to record happy moments and stories that I have experienced and also beautiful pictures in life, which helps to keep those memories from being forgotten by the time.

I am passionate about travel and love to discover new things. I want my footprints to be printed in many places. Going to new lands is also a way to mark my growth. Today I want to share with you a unique and beautiful destination in the Land of Thousand Flowers, Da Lat, and that is the Clay Tunnel.

Clay is a pliable clay when moistened, it is easily shaped by hand kneading, when dry it becomes more solid and when fired, it becomes a permanent solid. This property makes clay an ideal material for making durable ceramics, as well as decorations. So when it comes to clay, I usually just think of this as a raw material to create small ceramic items such as vases, cups, animals, etc.

It wasn't until I was introduced to and personally experienced a unique architecture called "Clay Tunnel" in Da Lat that I realized that my previous thinking was really limited. When I heard my friend say that everything here is made from clay, I doubted and didn't believe it, I decided to come here to discover and confirm if what my friend said is true. And you know, I was really surprised with a little bit of admiration when I saw these wonderful things with my own eyes.

Where's the Clay Tunnel?

Dalat clay tunnel, also known as sculpture tunnel, is located on the outskirts of Da Lat city, specifically in Ward 4, Tuyen Lam Lake tourist area, about 15km from the city center. You just need to search google maps "clay tunnel" it will guide you to the place. One of the places with the most majestic mountain natural scenery. The road here is also quite easy, so you don't need to worry, just get in the car and go to feel the wonderful beauty of this city of thousands of flowers. Da Lat is a beautiful city of the Central Highlands and I am also a girl who grew up in this sunny and windy Basalt red land. But in my memory, red soil is simply like any other soil except that it is rich in nutrients for favorable plant growth. In the rainy season, the red soil will become muddy and cling to my feet and make it difficult to move. I was haunted by that mud for a while. It was not until I visited the clay tunnel in Da Lat that I knew the Basalt red soil that I had seen since I was a child could create such wonderful things.

The Clay Tunnel is a work of art made entirely of clay. This clay tunnel was started construction in 2010 with a length of about 2km, a width of 2m - 10m and a depth of 1m - 9m. Do you know a place made of clay that is 2km long? It's a great project, isn't it? Not as flat as the roads in the old quarters or in the plains, but the roads here are curvy, winding, up and down,... Bringing bold features of the poetic Highlands.

When I came here to visit, I was really surprised and attracted by the unique beauty of this place. The seemingly inanimate clay lumps have become extremely vivid and unique shapes after going through the hands of artists. Almost all the ancient and most typical architectural works of Da Lat are reproduced here. At the end of the Clay Tunnel are more advanced and modern works such as: Valley of Love, Lien Khuong Airport, Tuyen Lam Lake, ...

At the beginning of the tunnel, scenes are depicted according to the history of Da Lat in stages: from the wild days to 1893 when Yersin discovered Langbiang plateau with legends of wild beauty including wild animals. and unspoiled nature.

Going a little further, you will see the tunnel simulating the period when Dr. Yersin discovered Da Lat. It recreates all the classical architecture and the most famous culture of the land of thousands of flowers. Artists have sketched in the most realistic and vivid way such works as Da Lat Railway Station, Lycée Yersin, Palace Hotel, Pasteur Institute, Con Ga Church, Da Lat Market, Linh Son Pagoda, Ong Dao Bridge. ..

Here I saw the largest clay house in Vietnam. On the roof, there is also a map of Vietnam, which is also made of very large clay. This is the first Basalt red earth house using unburnt materials and has been confirmed by two Vietnamese records. It is considered as one of the most impressive architectural works in the land of thousands of beautiful flowers. It depicts the most authentic way of nature, the country as well as the people in the land of Da Lat.

The house is built in the style of old Vietnamese houses with a familiar space. The yellow tone of the earth gives this place something nostalgic. It reproduces most of what is most typical of Da Lat and gives visitors the most meaningful and wonderful tour.

Visiting the inside of the tunnel, I came across monkeys made of clay very realistic. Around the two sides of the tunnel are sculptured typical things of Da Lat. There is a super-large motorbike also made of clay, a bronze bell symbolizing the sacred temples of this land. I also admire the love songs carved on the clay walls.

Having to witness it with my own eyes, I can see how talented people are to create such a wonderful, meaningful and unique work with clay.

Everything here is really great, it fills the curiosity of a curious girl like me with indescribable excitement and joy. This place deserves to be a land that you should not miss when coming to Da Lat, and hope you will also have great experiences like me in this clay tunnel.

Fascinating place. Thank you for sharing.

There's a lot of fun here, and it's really beautiful 😊

I love your reviews.

Thank you so much!

It's a really good thing to preserve nature like this. In my place, people don't have that culture. They always plaster their clay houses with concrete because they don't want people to view them as poor. Its such a pity.

It's such a pity. Using clay to create a shape will bring its own unique beauty

Yes.. "unique beauty" is the word.
I really hope people in this area can learn to cultivate the habit of preserving nature. There's nothing like it.

The whole place look amazing.
Greetings!

Thank you so much!!!
