Lerici ๐ and the Gulf of Poets ๐๏ธ
10 days discovering Lerici and the neighboring placesโบ
These past years have been really tough for everyone but they gave us the opportunity to discover more the beauties really close to where we live.
Lerici is one of this. Is a small city located in the Eastern Riviera on the La Spezia Gulf
It is really close to the more famous Cinque Terre in Liguria. It has beautiful landscapes in which mountain and sea meet.
I have the fortune to have some friends there who were so kind to host me and my girlfriend for a week. These firends of us were amazing, they told us all the must-see places of the city and of the unbelievebly beauty close village.
Moreover, their house have a beautiful terrace with a breath-taking view
Days 1&2
We spent the first two day discovering Lerici.
We rent electrical bikes and we went around the village. One of the most beautiful attraction is the Castle.
Once you arrive to the top the view of the other part of Lerici's cost is amazing
Follwing the stairs that take you down again, you arrive to a beautiful spot, were local people normally go to avoid crowded beaches.
If you want to have a relaxed day at the seaside, you should definitely go there.
When your chilling day is over, you have the chance to eat or dirnk something in the beutiful "Ciccillo a Mare" resturant, with an priceless view of the gulf.
Days 3&4
With our electrical bike we reach the amazing Fiascherino Beach.
We spent here an time, snorkeling and canoeing. They organize guided tour of the most famous caves with canoes and kayaks. The owner and his son are amazing and they make you love and enjoy every single moment of the sea adventure.
.
Days 5&6
The week end came and finally our friends were able to take us arounf a bit.
They took us to Tellaro. In my opinion is one of the most beautiful city of the Gulf of Poets. It is really small and during winter is basically empty, but it small port is unique in the world.
We had a wonderful dinner in a small resturant exactly on the rocks of the port. We will fover ever take with us this beautiful place with its colorful sunsets.
The next day, directly from Lerici we took the ferry to the Cinque Terre. Even if it was mid September it was very crowded so we just to to the less famous Porto Venere. It is just less known but stil part of UNESCO heritage.
One of the main attraction is Byron Cave
A natural cavity 20 meters deep, between the church of San Pietro and the walls of the Castle. On the walls and in its waters there are many marine species, a true paradise for snorkelers. Lord Byron made this place his creative refuge. He was inspired by this cave to describe the cave of "The corsair".
.
To conclude our trip to Porto Venere we went to visit the** Castle of Doria**. It is a very old castle and insiede is a bit barren but the view through its windows is unbelievable
Day 7
Unfortunately, out trip was coming to an end, but we could have not leave this amazing place without a small hike. We asked our friends and they suggested us a short CAI path, connecting Lerici to Tellaro.
The hike passes both through small villages and terraces and it offers beautiful view of the sea
At the end we were a bit tired but really happy to have made it. It was a perfect conslusion of this amazing trip discovering Liguria's beauties.
Sometimes what is under our nose is not much considered, but in the end it always able to surprise us.
