Good morning friends, I took a week off from the internet to enjoy the end of summer vacation. I missed reading my colleagues' blog posts, but I've been catching up. I recently took a trip to a popular spot in Cuba and have included many photos to share.
Nothing more or less than Varadero. I had been planning this trip for over a year now. Setting it as a goal, I finally accomplished it with hard work and effort as going to Varadero is nearly impossible for a regular Cuban, let alone a university student. I had to put in a lot of the effort, especially since I was going with my girlfriend.
On Tuesday, the plan was to go to Cuba's most popular tourist spot, which had been reserved days prior through the Grupo Cubanacan website.

Buenos dias amigos de Hive, estuve una semanita de descanso, me separé un poco del internet, para poder disfrutar plenamente del fin de estas vacaciones de fin de verano y de seguro me perdí de excelentes momentos de lectura en los blog de mis compañeros, pero bueno ya he ido recuperando el tiempo perdido y aquí les presento con muchas fotos el excelente viaje que tuve a un popular lugar de la geografía cubana.
Nada más y nada menos que Varadero, bueno hacía tiempo atrás venía planeando el viaje, se podría decir que hace más de un año me lo propuse como meta. Meta que cumplí con el duro trabajo y esfuerzo porque ir a varadero es casi imposible para un cubano normal, imagínense para un estudiante universitario. Realmente puse empeño y mucho de ese empeño porque iba a ir bien acompañado de mi novia.
Yendo al tema, el pasado martes 22 era la esperada fecha de hacer el viaje a la zona turística más popular de Cuba, ya días con antelación se había hecho la reserva por la web del Grupo Cubanacan.
From Tuesday, the 22nd to Friday, the 25th, for a total of three nights and four days, transportation was arranged through Havanatur agency in Pinar del Rio. I personally made the reservation for two double rooms and one single room under my name. Although only my name was on the reservation voucher, I still referred to myself as the reservation holder and thought it was amusing. We were with my girlfriend, her aunt (who is my mother-in-law's sister-in-law), my sister-in-law, two 10-year-old girls (my cousin and niece), and myself.
We searched a lot and calculated many times to find a budget-friendly hotel that also had great ratings and would be enjoyable. Finally, we found Hotel Tuxpan, a 4-star all-inclusive resort, that met our requirements and cost only 33 USD per night.

Desde el martes 22 hasta el viernes 25, fueron tres noches y 4 días. Se coordinó el transporte en la agencia de Havanatur de Pinar del Río. La reserva fue hecha por mí, y obviamente a mi nombre, de dos habitaciones dobles y una sencilla. Solo mi nombre estaba en el voucher de la reserva por lo que me autodenomine el titular de la reserva y que por eso merecía adoración. JAJAJAA YO ERA EL TITULAR DE LA RESERVA. Íbamos mi novia, mi cuñada, mi suegra, la cuñada de mi suegra, es decir la tía de mi novia, dos pequeñas de 10 años, prima y sobrina, y yo.
Revisamos muchísimo, e hicimos incontables cálculos, con el objetivo de encontrar el hotel más económico pero a la vez que fuera, un hotel con buenas reseñas y que supiéramos que íbamos a disfrutar. Después de la insistente búsqueda, encontramos el lugar adecuado por 33 USD la noche, en un Resort 4 estrellas, Hotel Tuxpan, con régimen todo incluido.
The trip:
We departed from Pinar del Río around 7:30 in the morning aboard a comfortable Transtur bus. Our tour guide ensured everyone's comfort throughout the trip. She informed us of two stops we would make on the journey. Firstly, we would visit La Chorrera, a well-known camping spot with natural surroundings. Secondly, we would stop at Peñon del Fraile where we could take bathroom breaks and have lunch. I was responsible for the screen panel at the back of the bus, where they played music videos during the trip. My task was to prevent anyone from colliding with the panel while walking down the aisle. As fate would have it, the panel that I ended up with was much larger than the others. Even though it was embarrassing, my fellow passengers laughed it off and I was able to overcome the situation quickly.

Salimos de Pinar del Río a las 7:30 de la mañana aproximadamente, en ómnibus de Transtur, muy confortable, con una guía turística que estuvo todo el viaje preocupada por la comodidad de todos. Al inicio del viaje nos explicó que se debía hacer paradas en la Chorrera un campismo popular que esta al contacto con la naturaleza y en el Peñón del Fraile, donde se harían paradas para poder ir al baño y comer. Me dejo a cargo del panel de la pantalla al final del ómnibus, donde reprodujeron videos musicales en el viaje, yo era el encargado de no permitir que nadie le fuera de cabeza al panel mientras caminaba por el pasillo. Sucedió que el único que se metió tremendo panelazo fui yo, vergüenza que superé rápidamente porque todo se fue en las risas de los compañeros de viaje.

Arriving at the Hotel:
Upon arrival, the hotel exterior was impressive, featuring a dolphin sculpture and a stunning waterfall with a massive transparent acrylic roof. Moving inside, we were promptly greeted by the staff, who directed us to wait in the lobby for check-in. Shortly after, we were attended to, check-in was quick and efficient, and we were given access passes for the entire facility.
The hotel staff brought our hotel rooms to us, and the concierge helped transport our suitcases. The room was spotless and well-maintained, with functioning amenities, and organized furnishings. After checking in, we went straight to the pool area, where we enjoyed some refreshments from the snack bar and took part in the activities. Speaking of the pool, the water was crystal clear, with not even a leaf or abandoned cup on the bottom and looked quite tempting. Indeed, it was wonderful. The pool was the cleanest and best I've ever seen.
It overshadowed the beach at Varadero, especially since the weather wasn't ideal as there was some wind and large waves. Nonetheless, we still watched the sunset at the beach, enjoying the summer sun in that magical sunset that graces the northern coasts of Cuba.
In the evening, we got invited to a restaurant in the hotel with live music. We had a great time trying out different courses from their tasting menu. I won't get into detail, as my focus is on travel.
We also joined the Tropigala Group's cultural events. These guys are talented and put a lot of effort into making the guests' experience enjoyable. They present a variety of cultural performances perfectly. They also have musicians, poets, and others who are passionate about their craft.

Bueno a la llegada al hotel fue esplendida, la entrada del hotel tiene una escultura de un delfín y tiene una hermosa cascada con un enorme techo de acrílico transparente que es giganteszo, es majestuoso, el entrar al lobby del hotel rápidamente fuimos atendidos por el servicio nos indicaron sentarnos y esperar ser atendidos en la recepción. Fue muy rápido, enseguida fuimos llamados, hicimos el check-in y nos pusieron las esperadas manillas que nos daban acceso a toda la instalación.
Nos entregaron los cuartos, el conserje nos llevo las malestas y el equipaje a la habitación. La habitación muy limpia, y en perfecto estado, todo funcionaba, muy bien organizada. Enseguida salimos para el área de la piscina, nos sentamos en el snack bar, ahí estuvimos comiendo algun refrigerio, participamos en la animación donde perdimos. AHORA, LA PISCINA, era otro nivel, que agua mas limpia, en el fondo no habia ni una hoja, ni un vaso desechable, aquello se veía extremadamente apetecible. En efecto, aquello era una bendición, la mejor piscina que he visto, extremadamente limpio.
Creo que la piscina opacó la playa de Varadero, desde luego, el tiempo no era el más adecuado para la playa, pues había un poco de aire y bastante oleaje, aún asi estuvimos el atardecer en la playa. Disfrutando del sol veraniego, en ese atardecer mágico que se dibuja en las costas nortes de Cuba.
En la noche fuimos invitados a un restaurante insternacional dentro de la instalación en donde había música en vivo, y disfrutamos de un menú degustación de varios platos del cual no seré más explicito porque mi interés es el viaje.
Participamos en actos culturales del Grupo Tropigala, muchachos muy talentosos que se exhigen muchisimo para hacer pasar buenos ratos a los huespedes de este hotel. Y vaya que lo logran a la perfección por la variada oferta cultural que presentan. Son músicos, poetas y locos.

Second Day:
On the second day, we departed the room at 7:30 am, which was very early. We wanted to make the most of our day. We quickly left the buffet, which offered great food, and the service staff always checked on us to ensure our comfort. Then, we headed to the amazing pool, where I planned to participate in activities, drink beer from the snack bar, and enjoy myself to the fullest. This was the opportune time to observe the installations, and it was amazing. It seems like the name Tuxpan was given by the municipality of Tuxpan in Veracruz, Mexico. The hotel had a distinct Mexican flavor with Inca calendars adorning the walls and paintings referencing the name. The architectural design was inspired by Inca structures, resembling a pyramid with each level becoming progressively smaller. The best feature of the room is the glass windows that look out onto the facility interior and the beach. It's important to note that the beach is just a short less-than-five-minute walk away, making it easily accessible to guests.
In the evening, we were invited to a cultural show at the Bamba disco, which is part of the facility complex. The show lasted about 4 hours and included lunch, so there was no need to rush. It was amazing to watch the Tropigala dance troupe perform. Their powerful and captivating performance kept the audience engaged until the end. Later that night, we went to the pool and felt the cool sea breeze. It was so enchanting that sleep didn't come easy, but we slept to wake up refreshed for the next day's adventures.

El segundo día salimos a las 7:30 de la habitación, bien temprano, había que aprovechar aquello al 100%. Salimos rapido del buffet, donde la oferta gastronómica era maravillosa y además el trato del servicio siempre preguntando que como la estabamos pasando y buscando nuestra comodidad era admirable.Luego, rápido para esa maravillosa piscina que quería disfrutar al máximo , participar en la animación y tomar cerveza en la snack bar. Este momento fue donde tuve mejor tiempo para observar la instalación. Que estaba ambientada por su nombre Tuxpan, supongo por el municipio Tuxpan del estado de Veracruz, México. Era bien al estilo mejicano, habia decoraciones de calendarios incas, y habian alguna que otras pinturas en el lobby y el resto del hotel que hacían referencia al nombre. El hotel en su diseño arquitectonico hacia referencia a las construciones incas, es algo así como una estructura que a cada nivel es mas pequeña dando la sensación de pirámide inca. Las habitaciones su principal fuerte son los ventanales de vidrio que dan vista al interior de la instalación y a la playa. Destaco su cercanía a la playa, basta solo com caminar menos de 5 minutos y estas metido en las cálidas playas del balneario más sabroso de Cuba.
En la noche fuimos invitados a un show en la Bamba, una discoteca que se encuentra en la instalación, pero que no forma parte de la misma, allí se hizo la comida, con oferta cultural que duro aproximadamente 4 horas, no había apuro. Fue magnífico ese grupo Tropigala, tiene un potente grupo de baile y provocan sanciones en el público, porque nadie se retiró antes de que acabara el espectáculo… Fuimos a la piscina en la noche, había una brisa con salitre que venía del mar que te enamoraba, no teníamos ganas de dormir, pero había que dormir para poder disfrutar el siguiente día.

Third day:
The alarm woke me up at 7:30 AM. I got ready quickly and encouraged myself to get up. We went to the buffet for breakfast and then headed straight to the beach, which we couldn't enjoy the previous day because of the waves.
I filled my thermos with 2 liters of water and went on a catamaran with a guide. The speed of the catamaran made me feel a bit airborne. We really liked it. It was my first time on a sail-equipped vehicle. It was really good. My girlfriend, sister-in-law and I took several pictures before the sun started to bother us. We ran to the pool, which had been a dream of mine.
Afterwards, we spent a lot of time on the beach. We took a break from the sun at noon and went to the buffet where we watched a live music show. Later, we spent most of our time in and around the pool, taking photos and playing games with the children. In the evening, we returned to Bamba for a more low-key but enjoyable show.
By the fourth day, we were feeling a bit sad that our experience had come to an end. However, we spent the morning by the pool until it was time to check out at noon.
If I had to explain how satisfied I was compared to my expectations, I'd say it was great. The staff's warm attention and kind words were crucial, and the food was both high quality and plentiful. But what really made the experience was the Tropigala show. Those guys made the whole hotel come alive. I would unquestionably come back just to see them again.
It was a bummer that these 4 days felt so short. Maybe because we were so eager to make the most of our time, I barely rested. I'd do it all over again! But I can't deny that I had a great time.

Igualmente la alarma a las 7:30 AM, aquí no se vino a dormir, decía yo dándome ánimos, para levantarme. Salimosal buffet desayunamos, y rápido para la playa que no habíamos podido disfrutar debido al oleaje, llene mi termo de 2 litros de cerveza, bien hidratadito, para la playaa!!
Montamos en catamaran con un guía, estuvimos aguas profundas, con un poco de aire que aquello hiba a una velocidad. Lo disfrutamos mucho, fue mi primera experiencia en un vehículo de estos de velas. Luego estuvimos en la playa bastante tiempo, junto con mi novia y mi cuñada nos tiramos un poco de fotos y ya cuando el sol empezo a castigarnos. Corrimos para esa piscina que para mi era un sueño, verdaderamente deliciosa.
Descansamos el mediodía de un poco del sol, estuvimos en buffet donde nos esperaba un espectáculo de musica en vivo, en la tarde mucha piscina y fotos, juegos con los niños. Y luego en la noche de nuevo pa la Bamba, espectáculo esta noche más discreto, pero entretenido.
El cuarto día en la mañana ya un poco tristones porque se acababa la experiencia, pero siii nos fuimos para la piscina hasta el mediodía que era la hora de entregar las habitaciones.
Sí, tuviera que explicar mi nivel de satisfacción frente a las epxpectativas que tenía debo decir que estuvo genial, inmejorable, la cálida atención y la amable palabra del personal fue algo crucial, la oferta gastrónomica en calidad estuvo muy bien y en cantidad igual. Pero yo si me llevo algo de esta experiencia es del show de Tropigala, estos muchachos pusieron a gozar a todo el hotel. Sin duda alguna repetiría solo por verlos a ellos.
Lamentable en estos 4 días que se me hicieron muy cortos, quizas por la desesperacion de disfrutarlo al maximo en el poco tiempo, casi no descansas. Pero no puedo decir que no lo disfruté, repetiría, la experiencia!!!

Un viaje espectacular, ir a Varadero es sinónimo de disfrute y relajación total. Esos pocos días allí pasan volando y quieres hacer de todo, conozco la sensación.
