How did you spend the end of the year? Here, we went to visit family in Rio Grande do Sul, and the first stop was in Caxias do Sul.
Caxias do Sul:
We arrived in Caxias do Sul, to enjoy the beginning of the Christmas and New Year holidays. The city is known for the strong influence of Italian colonization, which can be seen in the local culture, architecture of the houses and gastronomy.

Como passaram o final do ano? Por aqui, fomos visitar a família no Rio Grande do Sul, e a primeira parada foi em Caxias do Sul.
Caxias do Sul:
Chegamos em Caxias do Sul, para aproveitar o início das férias de Natal e Ano Novo. A cidade é conhecida por forte influência da colonização italiana, que pode ser vista na cultura local, arquitetura das casas e na gastronomia.
You can see Italian traditions in festivals, events and in everyday life, very famous among tourists for its wineries on the "Grape Route" that make high quality wines and sparkling wines.
It also has several tourist attractions, including the Monumento Nacional ao Immigrante, which pays homage to Italian immigrants, and Parque Moinhos de Vento, a green area for outdoor activities.
The climate has hot summers and very cold winters and may have some frosts in winter. Two years ago, a lot of snow fell, where many people played with making snowmen and playing snow fights.
A city that has a great quality of life for its inhabitants and also has many hills and valleys, with great descents and ascents, which make the landscapes stunning.
Christmas with family:
Christmas Eve was filled with ham, Chester and lots of homemade sweets. One of the most traditional sweets in the region is sago, which is made with wine.
Da para perceber as tradições italianas nos festivais, eventos e na vida cotidiana, muito famosa pelos turistas por suas vinícolas da "Rota da Uva" que fazem vinhos e espumantes de alta qualidade.
Também tem várias atrações turísticas, incluindo o Monumento Nacional ao Imigrante, que homenageia os imigrantes italianos e o Parque Moinhos de Vento, uma área verde para atividades ao ar livre.
O clima tem verões quentes e invernos muito frios podendo ter algumas geadas no inverno. Dois anos atrás chegou a cair muita neve, onde muitos brincaram de fazer bonecos e guerrinha de neve.
Cidade que tem uma ótima qualidade de vida para seus habitantes e também tem muitos morros e vales, com grandes descidas e subidas, que deixam as paisagens deslumbrantes.
Natal com família:
A noite de Natal foi bem recheada com pernil, Chester e muitos doces caseiros. Um dos doces mais tradicionais da região é o sagu, que é feito com vinho.

I ate a few portions and it was very tasty, but then I felt the strength of the wine and went to sleep very happy. 🤣
Canela:
After Christmas, we went as a family to visit the city of Canela, a neighboring city that is known for its European architecture. Everyone who visits says it reminds them of cities in the interior of Germany.
We were able to see the descent of Papal Noel at the Stone Cathedral, a church designed by architect Bernardo Ribeiro Soares and built entirely in stone between 1953 and 1963. It was beautifully lit up at Christmas time.
Comi algumas porções e estava bem gostoso, mas depois senti a força do vinho e fui dormir bem feliz. 🤣
Canela:
Depois do Natal, fomos em família para visitar a cidade Canela, uma cidade vizinha que é conhecida pela arquitetura europeia. Todos que visitam falam que lembra cidades do interior da Alemanha.
Conseguimos ver a descida do Papal Noel na Catedral de Pedra, uma igreja projetada pelo arquiteto Bernardo Ribeiro Soares e construída toda em pedra entre 1953 e 1963. Estava toda linda iluminada na época de Natal.

The tower is very tall, around 65 meters high and overlooks the entire region. It is recognized not only for its religious value but also for the beauty of its architecture, which is beautiful to see during the day and at night.
Gramado:
After Canela, we went to another nearby city, Gramado in Serra Gaúcha, known for its natural beauty, pleasant climate and several tourist attractions.
A torre é bem alta com cerca de 65 metros de altura e tem vista de toda a região. Ela é reconhecida não apenas pelo valor religioso mas também da beleza da arquitetura que é linda de ver durante o dia e durante a noite.
Gramado:
Depois de Canela, fomos para outra cidade próxima, Gramado na Serra Gaúcha, conhecida por sua beleza natural, clima agradável e várias atrações turísticas.

The city offers a variety of attractions, such as Lago Negro, Mini Mundo (a miniature park), Palácio dos Festivais, where the famous Gramado Film Festival takes place, and Rua Coberta.

It is also famous for the production of chocolates. There are several chocolate factories that make your mouth water.
A curious fact is that Cristiano Ronaldo's sister has a beautiful house here and there is also a lot of talk that Cristiano Ronaldo himself comes here to visit and spend the holidays with his family.
At Christmas time, the city is lit up and decorated for the party, with Christmas performances, shows and events.
Rua Coberta is one of the most charming places in Gramado during Christmas with several shops, restaurants and cafes, all of which were decorated for the holidays.
Também é famosa pela produção de chocolates. Tem várias fábricas de chocolate que dão água na boca.
Uma curiosidade é que a irmã de Cristiano Ronaldo tem uma bela casa aqui e também se fala muito que o Próprio Cristiano Ronaldo vem para cá visitar e passar as festas em Família.
Na época de Natal a cidade fica toda iluminada e decorada para a festa, com apresentações natalinas, shows e eventos.
A Rua Coberta é um dos lugares mais charmosos de Gramado durante o Natal com várias lojas, restaurantes e cafés, e todos estavam decorados para as festas.

And it is on this street that there are the Statues of the 7 Magi, representing seven magical figures.
Each one has unique characteristics and is a tourist spot that is often photographed by visitors.
E é nessa rua que tem as Estátuas dos 7 Magos, representam sete figuras mágicas.
Cada um tem características únicas e é um ponto turistico muito fotografado pelos visitantes.

In addition to the Stone Cathedral and Rua Coberta, other attractions are very interesting, such as the Hard Rock Café, the Gramado Film Festival Museum and the Statues of the 7 Magi.
Além da Igreja Matriz São Pedro e da Rua Coberta, outras atrações são bem interessantes, como o Hard Rock Café, o Museu do Festival de Cinema de Gramado e as Estátuas dos 7 Magos.

We took the opportunity to walk around the city and see the entire city lit up for Christmas.
The Swiss watches with thermometers are an attraction in themselves in the Center of Gramado.
Aproveitamos para caminhar pela cidade e ver toda cidade iluminada para o Natal.
Os relógios suíços com termômetros são uma atração à parte no Centro de Gramado.

Another place that many people like to take photos is A Rua Torta. The street was built to imitate the Crooked Street in Paris and ended up becoming a tourist attraction and is surrounded by beautiful gardens.
Outro lugar que muitas pessoas gostam de tirar fotos, é A Rua Torta. A rua foi construída para imitar a Rua Torta de Paris e acabou se tornando uma atração turística e é cercada por belos jardins.

We also passed along the sidewalk with the hands of many famous artists who have passed through there, not to mention the charm that the city has, it almost feels like we are walking in some European city, it is worth knowing that they come to Brazil.
Tampém passamos pela calçada com as mão de muitos artistas famosos que por ali já passou.
Tudo isso com o charme que a Cidade tem, até parece que estamos caminhando em alguma cidade Européia, vale muito conhecer que vem ao Brasil.

Our trip to Caxias do Sul, Gramado and Canela was incredible, family moments and fun in cities that are beautiful and have attractions for all tastes, making New Year's holidays a great option in Serra Gaúcha.
Nossa viagem a Caxias do Sul, Gramado e Canela foi incrível, momentos entre família e diversão pelas cidades que são lindas e tem atrações para todos os gostos fazendo das férias de Ano Novo uma ótima opção pela Serra Gaúcha.
