During the pandemic, I did not go too far from home. I delayed my vacation plans. But finally I realized that this process would not end easily. And finally we made a vacation plan. It's been a few days since I was back from vacation. I should have prepared a travel post when I got back from vacation. This took some time. And here is the turn in this article. First of all, I should mention that I took the photos with the mobile phone camera. I shouldn't have left my baby in the crowd either. Therefore, the mobile phone offers practical use. Our 3-day vacation started early in the morning. We can consider the time when my little baby wakes up. In fact, the day before, I quickly looked for a rental holiday home. A house that can accommodate 4 people will be enough. The exact place we were thinking of going was quite affordable. We started our trip from the city of Ayvalık. And the last stop of our trip was Foça.
However, I chose it as a starting point. Because I love it here. In fact, years ago I visited Foça again. Because it is not far from our home. It is a very cute holiday town. It is possible to eat great gum ice cream and excellent fish. I always remember Foça when I want ice cream. We collected our belongings on the last day of our trip.
We paid for the house. And we set off. We had about 2 and a half hours from Ayvalık. but first we stopped by the waterfall. Nebiler waterfall. Of course, you will need to look at my next travel article for this. This is an amazing place. Anyway ... The first moment we entered Foça we encountered fishing boats.
There were very cute cats and fishermen everywhere. By the way, Foça consists of two parts as old Foça and new Foça. We visited Old Foça. Because the real history is there. And its name in ancient times was Phokaia.
In ancient times there were very skilled sailors in this area. And these people were known as phokaians. They have established very important colonies. And this is an Ionian settlement. In fact, there is a lot of historical information that can be given in this section. But this information is about Phokaians. As a result, they have beautiful colonies and towns. And Foça is one of the most important centers in the world in terms of archeology. Hellenistic theater, Athena temple, harbor holy monument, Persian mausoleum ...
The ancient theater dates back to 340-330 BC. The theater is made of Tufa stone. This stone is also known as Foça stone.
The temple of Athena was built in the 6th century BC. Excavations are still ongoing. And it is dedicated to Zeus's beloved daughter. The Kybele open air temple was exposed on the rock where the temple is located.
Foça was later acquired by Çaka Bey. It was ruled by the Saruhanoğulları principality. It is not a very popular and very crowded place. This was lucky for us. It is a suitable escape point, especially during the pandemic period. If you want to listen to your head, you have to be here. If you want to see a real sunset, you must be here. Due to the limited time, we did not stay at that hour.
Foça is full of old stone houses. And the walls of the houses hold a different story. Every window you see has a different artistic touch. A truly must-visit place for photographers. You enter the bazaar and there is a bakery where you can eat excellent hot donuts.
You can drink mortar coffee right in front of it. This coffee is famous. Prepare for a perfect dinner at the harbor restaurant.
We had a great fish and bread because we didn't wait for the evening. In a shabby place. And only $ 2! Yes it should be quite suitable for you. Then we went for ice cream. There was a line in front of the ice cream shop. This place is very famous.
Nazmi Master's place. And they made ice cream for anything you can think of. The ball is only $ 0.1. Here we entered the side streets to see the stone-walled houses. We smelled the recipe in every stone.
These houses used to belong to people of Greek origin. It will catch your attention as soon as you enter the city. I think it changed hands with the exchange. We traveled with my husband to photograph every detail. Now I invite everyone here.
You will be watching a very affordable and perfect date. If you are interested in history and are planning a quiet trip, you should definitely visit Foça. This is a town and district of Turkey's Izmir province. To get here, you can take the buses from Izmir bus terminal to Foça.
