Hello dear Hive community!
In this post I'm going to share with you a long walk I took along the corniche of Tangier, a visit to the Marina and at the end a walk with my cousin in the city centre...

Towards the end of the afternoon, the weather was magnificent and I decided to make the most of the moment by taking a walk along the Corniche, passing by Marina Tangier, to appreciate the recent transformation of this area and feel the special atmosphere of this city in the north of Morocco.

Once I arrived at the corniche, I felt a vibrant energy. The seafront, once older and less organised, has been completely renovated over the last seven years, as I remember when I came here towards the end of 2017 it was less beautiful than it is now. Today it offers a wide, pleasant promenade lined with palm trees, benches and modern lampposts. The transformation immediately reminded me of the Corniche in Alexandria, Egypt. There's a certain similarity between the two: a wide avenue running alongside the sea, cafés and restaurants offering magnificent views of the waves, and above all that maritime atmosphere that soothes and refreshes the mind.

What I love about Tangier's Corniche is that there's always a great atmosphere. You'll see families taking a leisurely stroll, friends and couples enjoying the moment, and even street performers adding a touch of colour and music. One of the most notable improvements here is the creation of a two-storey underground car park. With the growing number of visitors and the boom in tourism, this addition was essential. Not only does it relieve congestion on the surrounding streets, it also gives pedestrians more space to enjoy the promenade. It's a real asset for those who want to discover Tangier without worrying about parking.

The fresh air makes the place lively and pleasant. Tangier is a city open to the world, and this corniche is perfect proof of that.

Further along my walk, I arrived at Marina Tangier. This new, modern and elegant venue offers superb views of the yachts and boats moored there. The well-kept greenery adds a touch of beauty that makes the place even more pleasant. Right next to the water, there are several cafés where you can sit on the terrace, drink a coffee and enjoy the comings and goings of the boats. It really was the perfect relaxing break overlooking the sea.

In Tangier, there's one distinctive element that all visitors to the city can quickly notice, and that's its wind. As soon as you approach the seaside, a constant breeze envelops you, making the heat of the sun more bearable and bringing a feeling of freshness. I think this particular wind is perhaps due to the city's exceptional geographical location: situated at the northernmost tip of Africa, where the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea meet. This phenomenon creates a unique atmosphere, sometimes more intense, as the wind seems to bring the city to life. You can feel it particularly at the end of the day, when it rises slightly, as if to herald nightfall. It carries with it the scent of the sea and humidity, adding a sensory dimension to the walk.

As I continued my walk while the sky filled with pretty orange and pink hues, heralding the end of the day, I met up with my cousin, who lives and works in Tangier.

We took the opportunity to wander around the city centre, admiring the bustle of the boulevards, before indulging in dinner at an Italian restaurant near the train station. On the menu: delicious pizzas that rounded off this beautiful day perfectly. Tangier is changing and modernising, but it still has that special soul that makes it unique.

This walk along Tangier's corniche, with its elegant Marina, showed me once again just how unique this city is. Passing through the city centre, with its wide boulevards, modern buildings, department stores and restaurants, I felt this perfect blend of modernity and tradition. The maritime atmosphere, the fresh air and above all the light at the end of the day that envelops the city in a beautiful golden glow set Tangier apart. It's impossible not to fall under its spell, and it's a must for anyone who comes to discover it.

Oh, I still miss to know Tangier, I have not had the chance to know the city in my past trips to Morocco, it is a place that I am dying to visit, I hope I can go there soon and reproduce this route.
Great news about the positive renovation of the waterfront, I think your mention about parking is super important, in busy cities this can be a big headache when sightseeing.
Tangier has always been a very sought after destination for travelers, it is not surprising that it is modernizing, but I do not doubt that it can keep its essence. Society must necessarily move forward, but respectfully.
I enjoyed getting to know a bit of the city thanks to your tour, keep enjoying the family visits. greetings!
Thank you so much @ninaeatshere for such a kind comment! Tangier really is a beautiful city with its mix of modernity and history. I hope you get the chance to go there soon - there are lots of fascinating places in and around the city, anyway I think you're Spanish and Tangier is very close to you ;) and you'll be welcome any time!
Yes, parking can quickly become a headache in busy cities, but fortunately they've thought well of that with the renovations. And as you say, even with modernisation, Tangier still has its soul, and that's what makes it so charming.
Thank you again for taking the time to read and leave this lovely message, I'm so pleased!
