Hi friends!
I am having active days before the new year. I only had to travel to Istanbul for 2 days. Actually, this was not a planned trip. My sister was called for an interview by the airline company where she applied for a job. Since he had never been to Istanbul before, he did not want to be alone and invited me too. I quickly got permission from the institution I worked for to accompany him. And we prepared for only a 2-day trip to Istanbul. In this article, I wanted to tell you about the city of Istanbul and present some sections from this short trip.

Yeni yıl öncesi hareketli günler yaşıyorum. Sadece 2 gün için İstanbul’a seyahat etmem gerekti. Aslında bu planlı bir seyahat değildi. Kız kardeşim, iş başvurusunda bulunduğu havayolu şirketi tarafından mülakata çağrıldı. Kendisi daha önce İstanbul’ a hiç gitmediği için yalnız kalmak istemedi ve beni de çağırdı. Ona eşlik etmek adına çalıştığım kurumdan hızlıca izin aldım. Ve sadece 2 günlük İstanbul seyahati için hazırlandık. Bu yazımda sizlere İstanbul şehrinden bahsetmek ve bu kısa seyahatten bazı kesitler sunmak istedim.
Istanbul is one of the provinces of Turkey with a unique geography. It hosts thousands of tourists every year with its cultural riches and thousands of years of history. I have been to this city, located on both sides of the Bosphorus, many times. But it was all short-lived. It is almost impossible to explore this place from start to finish. So at least for me…

Going back to our topic, we had to be in Istanbul the day before because my sister's interview was early in the morning. Since we live in different cities, we chose Sabiha Gökçen Airport, located on the Anatolian side of Istanbul, as the meeting point. We came to Istanbul from different cities with a little time difference. We set out to reach the hotel we had arranged before arriving.
Konumuza dönecek olursam kız kardeşimin mülakatı sabah erken saatlerde olduğu için bir gün önceden İstanbul’da olmalıydık. Ayrı şehirlerde yaşadığımız için İstanbul’un Anadolu yakasında yer alan Sabiha Gökçen Havaalanını buluşma noktası olarak seçtik. Farklı şehirlerden az bir zaman farkı ile İstanbul’a geldik. Gelmeden önce ayarladığımız otele ulaşmak üzere yola koyulduk.
Everyone here knows that there is a traffic problem in Istanbul. If you have had the opportunity to travel to Turkey, you have heard of this. It may be necessary to make a lot of effort to go anywhere. Since we do not have a private vehicle, we planned to do our work here by using public transportation. There are already many people in Istanbul who use public transportation, even if they have a vehicle. As I said, traffic…
İstanbul’da trafik sorunu olduğunu burada herkes bilir. Eğer sizde Türkiye’ye seyahat etme imkânı bulduysanız bunu duymuşsunuzdur. Her hangi bir yere gitmek için hayli çaba göstermek gerekebiliyor. Özel aracımız olmadığı için toplu taşıma araçlarını kullanarak buradaki işlerimizi halletmeyi planladık. Zaten İstanbul’da aracı olsa dahi toplu taşıma araçlarını kullanan çok fazla insan varmış. Dediğim gibi trafik…
Anyway, it wasn't too difficult to go to the place we made our reservation in advance. As soon as we arrived, we changed and went to the nearest restaurant to eat. Of course, there were more special restaurants here. But we were in no mood to wait. : ))
Neyse daha önceden rezervasyonumuzu yaptırdığımız yere gitmek çok zor olmadı. Gelir gelmez üzerimizi değiştirdik ve yemek için en yakın restorana gittik. Burada elbette daha özel restoranlar vardı. Fakat bizim bekleyecek halimiz yoktu. : ))
After our stomach was full, our energy was restored. Since we were going to the interview the next day, we wouldn't have the opportunity to go anywhere. That's why we decided to take a short tour. Since we were staying in Fatih district, we chose a place we could easily go to. We decided to go to Eminönü by tram.
Karnımız doyduktan sonra enerjimiz yerine geldi. Ertesi gün mülakata gideceğimiz için pek bir yere gitme fırsatımız olmayacaktı. O yüzden kısa bir tur yapalım dedik. Fatih ilçesinde kaldığımız için kolaylıkla gidebileceğimiz bir yer seçtik. Tramvay ile Eminönü’ne gitmeye karar verdik.
Eminönü is located in the Fatih district of Istanbul. This district is a historical and touristic center with many buildings worth seeing. Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia museum are some of them.
Eminönü İstanbul’un Fatih ilçesine bağlı bir semtidir. Bu semt görülmeye değer birçok yapıyı barındıran tarihi ve turistik bir merkezdir. Sultanahmet Camii ve Ayasofya müzesi bunlardan bazılarıdır.
We arrived at Sultanahmet Square, which smells of history. The magnificent structure of Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque fascinated me. I can say that walking around in the shadow of these historical places made me forget all my tiredness. We walked through the sparkling streets.
Tarih kokan Sultanahmet Meydanına geldik. Ayasofya ve Sultanahmet Camii'nin görkemli yapısı beni büyüledi. Bu tarihi mekânların gölgesinde dolaşmak tüm yorgunluğumu unutturdu diyebilirim. Işıltılı sokaklarda yürüdük.
We added flavor to our walk by purchasing a bag of roasted chestnuts.
Bir kese közde kavrulmuş kestane satın alarak yürüyüşümüze lezzet kattık.
We ended the evening with kunefe, one of our delicious desserts. It took us almost 1 hour to get here from Sultanahmet Square. We ate our dessert with pleasure. We paid 220 TL for two portions of dessert. This is a very reasonable amount. Then we returned to our hotel to rest and prepare for tomorrow.
Akşamı nefis tatlılarımızdan biri olan künefe ile sonlandırdık. Sultanahmet meydanından buraya gelmek neredeyse 1 saatimizi aldı. Keyifle tatlımızı yedik. İki porsiyon tatlı için 220 TL ödeme yaptık. Bu gayet makul bir tutardır. Ardından dinlenip yarına hazırlanmak üzere otelimize döndük.
The next day, we had breakfast at 8 in the morning and set out to go to the interview, which was the reason we came to Istanbul. Even though the meeting was at 13.30, my sister's excitement took us there at 10.00. We were lucky. The security guard stated that we did not need to wait that long, and my sister was taken to the interview with people who had an appointment at 10.30.
Ertesi gün sabah 8 de kahvaltımızı yaptık ve İstanbul’a geliş sebebimiz olan mülakata gitmek üzere yola koyulduk. Görüşme 13.30 da olmasına rağmen kız kardeşimin heyecanı bizi saat 10.00’da oraya götürdü. Şanslıydık. Güvenlik görevlisi o kadar beklememize gerek olmadığını ifade etti ve kız kardeşim 10.30 randevusu olan kişilerle beraber mülakata alındı.
I waited for him outside for about 2 hours. Some people whose interviews were negative and who could not pass the English exam left quickly. It was encouraging that my sister wasn't out yet. This showed that something was going well. When She came out she was very enjoyable she. Time will tell the rest. We leave after learning that the clear results will be announced a month later.
Yaklaşık 2 saat onu dışarıda bekledim. Görüşmesi olumsuz sonuçlanan ve İngilizce sözlüsünden geçemeyen bazı kişiler hızlıca çıktı. Kız kardeşimin henüz çıkmamış olması umut vericiydi. Bu bir şeylerin yolunda gittiğini gösteriyordu. Çıktığında gayet keyifliydi. Gerisini zaman belirleyecek. Bir ay sonra net sonuçların açıklanacağını öğrenip oradan ayrılıyoruz.
Since our work was finished a little early, we wanted to explore Istanbul a little more. When I checked the map, I saw that we were very close to Florya beach and Florya shopping center. After a half-hour walk, we were at Florya shopping center. This is a place that hosts many local and foreign brands. A stylish shopping center with modern shops, cafes and restaurants. It also has a huge aquarium.
İşimiz biraz erken bittiği için İstanbul’u biraz daha keşfetmek istedik. Haritayı kontrol ettiğimde Florya sahiline ve Florya alışveriş merkezine çok yakın olduğumuzu gördüm. Yarım saatlik yürüyüş sonrasında Florya alışveriş merkezindeydik. Burası yerli ve yabancı birçok markayı içinde barındıran bir yer. Modern mağazaların, kafelerin ve restoranların bulunduğu şık bir alışveriş merkezi. Aynı zamanda kocaman bir akvaryumu var.
We want to go down to Florya beach before it gets dark. Florya Beach is a great place to get away from the noise of the city and relax by the sea. Walking paths offer a calm and relaxing atmosphere along the beach. I can say that coming here was a great option to relieve the stress of the interview and enjoy the sea view of Istanbul.
Hava kararmadan Florya sahiline inmek istiyoruz. Florya Sahili, şehrin gürültüsünden uzaklaşıp deniz kenarında dinlenmek için harika bir yermiş. Yürüyüş yolları, sahil boyunca sakin bir atmosfer sunuyor ve dinlendiriyor. Buraya gelmek, mülakat stresini atmak ve İstanbul'un deniz manzarasının tadını çıkarmak için harika bir seçenek oldu diyebilirim.
When we realize that the time is getting late, we decide to return to the hotel before it is too late. We planned to arrange our return tickets for tomorrow and spend the remaining time resting.
Saatin ilerlediğini fark edince fazla geç olmadan otele dönmeye karar veriyoruz. Yarın için dönüş biletlerimizi ayarlayıp kalan vakti dinlenerek geçirmeyi planladık.
And we were coming to the end of our Istanbul adventure. We checked out of the hotel in the morning and set out to go to Sabiha Gökçen Airport. There is a 4 hour time difference between my sister and my ticket times. I dare to leave early to see him off. After bidding him farewell, I spent hours on the internet. :)) And it's time for me to return to Antalya.
Ve İstanbul maceramızın sonuna geliyorduk. Sabah otelden ayrılış yapıp yeniden Sabiha Gökçen Havalimanına gitmek üzere yola koyulduk. Kız kardeşim ile bilet saatlerimiz arasında 4 saatlik bir zaman farkı var. Onu uğurlamak için erkenden gitmeyi göze alıyorum. Onu uğurladıktan sonra saatlerce internette oyalandım. : )) Ve benim içinde Antalya’ya dönüş vakti geldi.
I am happy that I got caught up in the atmosphere of this city, even if it was for a short time. Maybe I'll have the chance to spend more time in the future. I'm sure it would take days to explore and visit this huge city. Ours was a short adventure.
Kısa süre de olsa bu şehrin atmosferine kapıldığım için mutluyum. Belki gelecekte daha fazla zaman geçirme şansım olur. Bu koca şehri keşfetmek ve gezmek eminim günler sürer. Bizimki kısa bir maceraydı.

İstanbul muhteşem bir şehir. Her gittiğimde büyüleniyorum. Özellikle vapur yolculuğu bana müthiş hissettiriyor. Ben zaten İstanbul'a 1.5 saat uzaklıkta oturuyorum. Deniz yolculuğuna ise bayılıyorum.
