Hello fellow travelers, today in this post, I want to share something I found on my old PC – beautiful memories from last year when I visited the island of Saona. In my opinion, it is one of the most stunning islands located in the southern part of the Dominican Republic, boasting the most beautiful and pristine beach with crystal-clear waters. Even in that area, it's challenging to find unattractive beaches.

I still remember that we had booked accommodation in Punta Cana, and in the morning with the excursion, we went to see this beautiful beach because the local guides took you in the morning to see the more naturalistic beach, while in the afternoon, you would visit the more chaotic one. I recall that it was quite chaotic, and unfortunately, we even had lunch there.

Visiting these places is a great experience that I hope to repeat soon. However, I remember that a part of these beaches was quite polluted, which is a downside. There was a lot of plastic, as you might notice from some photos I shared here. Of course, what makes these places beautiful is the breathtaking landscape, but aggressive and mass tourism, in my opinion, can jeopardize marine biodiversity.

Moreover, I didn't even go snorkeling, one of the most popular activities not only in the Caribbean but especially in these areas. I have a lot of fear of not being able to breathe; it's a phobia I've had since I was a child, so I never manage to engage in this beautiful activity, especially in these beautiful areas where you can see many fish. I like being in the water but not putting my head underwater.

Honestly, I'm not sure if my next vacation will be in these areas again, but I would like to try moving to Mexico. I inquired about the prices to visit the islands, and I was told that an excursion to this island started at €65 per person, but it depended on other options considered. I remember spending much less last year, probably due to inflation causing prices to rise. Additionally, it's crucial to remember that tourism has increased everywhere.

Anyway, I definitely recommend this place, and if I remember correctly, the resort I praised was Club Med's Punta Cana Resort – a truly high-quality place with excellent service. However, it seems that prices have also increased there. For those seeking tranquility, I suggest going a bit off-season because, due to mass tourism, it wasn't a super oasis of relaxation, even though there were several wild beaches where you could isolate yourself a bit.

I hope my experience can help someone, and I hope you enjoyed the photos. See you all!
