(Eng / Esp) A look at the mysterious dunes of Coro.

in Pinmapple3 years ago (edited)

Hi/hola, Hivers.

Today I am going to give you a brief walk through the enigmatic dunes of Coro. Although this is a post that I promised you some time ago, I did not want to write it lightly, I have always had the notion that the place where we are born makes us a bit, that it is not an accident to be born in a particular place rather, over time that place ends up becoming part of our being and our personality.

That is why I want to show you the coro dunes, which have been a national park in Venezuela since 1972, the park in addition to including the dunes has a part that faces the sea in which mangroves are protected, it extends throughout the northern area Towards the east of the city of Coro, it has various accesses such as the Monseñor Iturriza promenade, although tourists regularly choose to get off to experience them when, on the road to the peninsula, they manage to see the dunes and get to know them..

These photos I took a long time ago, I even uploaded a video that I used for a previous post that was not properly about the dunes but rather about friendship. Los dunes is one of the faces of Coro, perhaps especially the north face, since its incessant dunes have migrated over and over again over the space that contains the roads, consuming them one after the other, sometimes we discover under them roads since the time of the colony more than two hundred years ago.

The vegetation of the national park is made up of a xerophytic flora, where cacti abound, but they are not the only thing present because there are two trees very typical of this environment, such as cují and yabo, the latter with green and hard bark, which it burned and its highly alkaline ash was mixed with grease to make toilet soap. As for the fauna, it is made up of snakes, insects and some seabirds that cross the dunes to reach the city.

That afternoon I climbed the dunes, alternating each foot while sinking into the sand, to watch the sun as it plunges into the sand is to understand that time inevitably passes. Above the sand burns and burns but if you sink your feet well the temperature is pleasant that has a therapeutic sensation, the cool wind caresses giving a feeling of peace, the sand of the dunes are quite heavy so they do not rise too much, but that run on the skin of the dunes.

I like to lie down on the back of a dune to look at the city in the distance, to see how the sun disappears and the city is gradually lighting up, on moonless nights the stars seem to rule the time, the cars are seen on the roads Of course this is my way, there are those who go to the dunes with buguy or sandboard cars, those who take pictures in the springs and those who follow the legends of that place.

One of those legends is that somewhere in the dunes an indigenous cemetery is hidden, where the stars can be seen in a better way almost as if you could see the spiritual world, the people of the city sometimes comment on it but He neither goes to the dunes nor dares to think of a place like that, however, it seems beautiful to me that there are things in the collective imagination that seem so great to us in places so close to us.

This really is a mysterious place. I love the photos you captured.

The snake part caused alarm in me. 👀 I would be terrified walking through that cacti.

I am glad my post really make an impact on you. Thanks for the mention :)

Hi, @crosheille .
Well, I was a scout when I was little, until more or less adulthood, I have elementary knowledge about snakes and I really do not fear them and I even like them.

I wanted to show you this post, because it was partly thanks to your advice on photography https://peakd.com/@photophile/photophile-picks-318-featured-curated-photos, I'll keep trying.

Have a wonderful day.
