in Pinmapple2 years ago

Hello, my friends! My name is Khoa, I am a tourist guide living in Da Nang city. Today I come back here again to share more, about Vietnam travel experiences. In the last travel article, I wrote about the most outstanding bridge of Da Nang city, which is the Dragon Bridge Da Nang. In today's article, I will start to introduce to everyone, the famous tourist attractions of Da Nang city. After these articles, I will begin to introduce to everyone, tours to discover the heritage of central Vietnam. Honestly, the city of Da Nang is favoured with a lot of potentials to develop the tourism industry. When Da Nang has beautiful beaches, it is voted by the international tourism community as one of the most beautiful beaches on the planet. When coming to Da Nang to visit, the most visited places by international tourists are My Khe beach, Ngu Hanh Son scenic spot, Linh Ung Pagoda located on Son Tra mountain, Ecological tourist area. Ba Na Hills, Cham Museum of Sculpture, Da Nang Cathedral, Han Market. To explore all the places above, it takes us at least 2 days, usually package tours by the company Viettravel that Khoa is working with. Then the above locations will be combined in tours to discover the central region's heritage. There is almost no tour to explore all the tourist attractions in Da Nang. But in the upcoming articles of Khoa, Khoa will introduce to you the tourist places that you should book a blanket when travelling to Da Nang. These articles will be of great help to you when travelling to Vietnam. Today's article Khoa wants to introduce to you is Linh Ung Pagoda. Let's explore this temple in Khoa's article today.

In Da Nang city, there will be 3 pagodas named Linh Ung, which are Linh Ung Bai But Pagoda, Linh Ung Non Nuoc Pagoda, and Ba Na Linh Ung Pagoda. Today's article Khoa will introduce to everyone the Linh Ung Bai But the temple, this is one of the largest temples in Da Nang and also the largest temple in the 3 Linh Ung pagodas in Da Nang. Linh Ung Bai But Pagoda was started construction in 2004 and put into operation in 2010. This temple is located on a mountain of Son Tra peninsula, this temple has a statue of Quan The Am Buddha over 67m high. . Because it is located on a high mountain and has a tall Buddha statue, you can easily see the Buddha statue from the bottom of the mountain of Da Nang. From the above perspective, you can easily see that this temple has a very beautiful location, facing the sea and the centre of Da Nang city. With this location you can have a beautiful view, to see the city of Da Nang and the beautiful beaches located at the foot of the mountain.

It can be seen that this temple was built in a very beautiful location. But I feel that this temple, built with a large area and has lost the natural ecological landscape of the mountains and forests. But sometimes we have to make trade-offs to develop tourism. Linh Ung Bai But Pagoda is located about 10km from the city centre, after arriving at the temple gate, there will be two entrances to the temple. The road on the right will be for cars to transport groups of tourists, the road on the left will be for tourists travelling by motorbike. If visiting from the car park, you will have a route to explore this temple in a linked way. If visiting from the motorbike garage, you will go up the stairs to enter the main hall of the temple. To enter the main hall of Linh Ung Pagoda, you have to move the high-level stairs. In front of the main hall of Linh Ung Pagoda is the three-way gate, stepping through the gate will be the main campus of the main hall. Lying on both sides of the campus will be 18 arhat statues made of stone. The roof of the pagoda is covered with tile roofs, with a cool green colour. The architecture of the houses of Linh Ung Pagoda, inspired by the Northern Tong temples, is influenced by Chinese architecture. Inside the main hall, there are many Buddha statues, but there will be 3 main Buddha statues in the middle of the main hall. In the middle is the statue of Shakyamuni Buddha, this is the founder of Buddhism, usually, Shakyamuni Buddha will be placed in the middle of the temples. The statue of Shakyamuni Buddha is sitting on a lotus platform, with the sitting posture of nirvana. On the right is a statue of Guanyin Bodhisattva, this is a Buddha who lives forever. The Buddha statue's right-hand holds a willow branch, and the left-hand holds a pitcher of nectar to water sentient beings. On the left is a statue of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, a Buddha who saves sentient beings in the law of reincarnation.

Behind the main hall is an altar with the deceased, after being cremated, the family will usually bring the ashes to the temple to be released and will be kept at the temple for 2 years before taking it home. In the middle is a statue of the Buddha, the Buddha, who is the Master Dat Ma, who was the one who spread and founded Zen learning and Chinese martial arts. Behind the main hall are the resting houses of the monks of the temple. Behind there are also 18 wooden statues of arhats, along with a statue of the Bodhisattva Thien Thu Thien Nhan, this Buddha has thousands of eyes and thousands of arms, the number of thousands does not only mean exactly. is a thousand, but also refers to an uncountable number k. Therefore, the statue of Quan Am Thien Thu Thien Nhan in the temples may have more than 1000 hands, maybe a few dozen hands or a few hundred hands.

In ordinary temples, there are stupas and Linh Ung Pagoda also has a stupa, located to the east of the temple. This stupa is located close to the car park, usually, tour groups will start to explore this area, before reaching the main hall and the 70m high statue of Guan Yin. On the way to this area, there will be a souvenir shop, which will sell a lot of Buddha statues made of fine art stone and wood. The prices of the products here are quite high, so everyone should consider them before buying. At the stupa, there is a statue of Shakyamuni Buddha in a sleeping position, flanked by 10 great disciples of the Buddha. Behind the Buddha statue is a stupa with 10 floors, inside each floor will be worshipped different buddhas. This is one of the quiet places of Linh Ung Pagoda, which was newly built-in 2017. Standing from here, visitors will be able to see the beauty of Son Tra mountains and vast seas in the distance.

Coming to Linh Ung Bai But Pagoda, where it is impossible not to mention is the area with a 70m high statue of Quan Am Buddha, inside the Buddha statue will include 17 floors. Each floor will be dedicated to the Buddhas in Buddhism. Before, when the Covid epidemic did not appear, the floors inside the statue would let visitors visit and go up the floors. But during this period there were some restrictions and visitors were only allowed to burn incense on the ground floor of the statue. The statue of Quan Am Buddha stands on a lotus, holding a vase of nectar and a willow branch. Many Da Nang people have believed that, since this statue was built, in Da Nang city, there are very few strong storms that hit the mainland of Da Nang. There are periods of strong storms, such as tropical storm Haiyan which is predicted to make landfall in Da Nang. The destructive power of this storm is very great and it has killed thousands of Filipinos in 2013. But a certain miracle before making landfall in Da Nang, a miracle happened, when this storm. changed course and went north and dissipated at sea. At night when Da Nang city lights up, from the Linh Ung Pagoda you can easily see the shimmering beauty of Son Tra peninsula and the far side of Da Nang city. At night at Linh Ung Pagoda, there will be lights shining on the statue of Quan Am Buddha and will cast shadows on the clouds. If you encounter a grey cloud, you will easily see the shadow of the Buddha statue in the cloud. This incident has many people believe that Guanyin Buddha appeared, but, due to the high-powered lamps shining on this statue, the above phenomenon happened.
