Hello everyone, hello members of @pinmapple apple community. I'm LK here. It's nice to visit your house. Last week, I had the opportunity to visit Quang Tri and attend my friend's wedding. This is also my first time visiting this place, with a very familiar countryside scene that is peaceful. Quang Tri is a central province of Vietnam. My friend’s house is in the middle of a quiet village close to the sweet, fragrant rice fields. This place reminds me of my hometown.
We started at 2:30 p.m. from Danang and got to the destination at 5 p.m. The afternoon here is so tranquil, with birds chirping in the melodious wind and the line of green trees waving. The village is far away from the city, so there is no dust or the noise of traffic, and the air is really fresh.
We had the wedding party the next day. And an interesting thing that we can’t skip is the night music with the live band.
What did we do after the wedding party?
We were a bit tired from so much delicious food and beer, but really happy and had a lot of fun. I hope my girl will have a happy marriage. After the party, my friend and I visited a famous national historic site here. Referring back to Quang Tri, you cannot skip this place. It's called the Quang Tri Ancient Citadel.
Quang Tri ancient citadel is located in the center of Quang Tri town, in Thach Han commune. There had been an associated bloody war on the Thach Han river for the last 81 days and nights between the Vietnamese and American armies. This place holds many painful but heroic memories of the Vietnamese people. With many illustrious feats, defeated invaders, repelled invaders out of Vietnam. Currently, this is also a place to commemorate the national heroes, the children of Quang Tri who sacrificed for the country.
The citadel is surrounded by a small, separate canal with an area of 25 hectares located next to Thach Han river not far from here. The canal is renovated and planted with lotus. However, it is now spring and the lotus has faded and has not regrown.
Entering the ruins, people can go through the main gate on the south. After going through the main gate of the citadel, we can access the reception area. The location of the museum is on the right.
The citadel was built by the Nguyen Dynasty with ancient architecture. The main materials are brick, lime and they are connected by natural materials such as sugar, glutinous rice, etc. The ingredients are simple but have been through many years of bombs and bullets, the harsh weather of central Vietnam but is still standing proudly and firmly.
The campus of the relic has now been covered with green trees. But I understand that somewhere there are still the remains of fallen heroes here and tragic but heroic stories.
People usually use this place for exercising, running, and jogging. My best friend and I visited the history museum, which stores the relics of the old war. The museum is open to visitors every day from 7:30 am to 11:30 am and 1:30 p.m to 50 pm. It was painted pink. The area is quite small, but it contains a lot of precious war memorabilia.
The museum has two floors, the first floor stands out with the drum mobile bronze of Vietnam. The second floor is to store many objects such as photos, personal use, weapons, costumes, ...

Many black and white images tell us about the heroic stories of the past. There are many photos of photographers for musium. They show us about war and the story of vietnamese soldiers in the past.
After visiting the museum, we stopped to burn incense at the memorial, hoping that the souls of those who have died can escape to heaven. This is actually the mass grave of unnamed heroes who died without finding their families. The tower is built in an octagonal shape, above the roof is a familiar communal house like in ancient buildings in Vietnam, next to it is a high cemented torch.
Quang Tri's weather for the past few days has not been beautiful, with many clouds, drizzle and cold wind. Standing here with a solemn afternoon, I love my country more than ever. I really respect and am really grateful for what the heroes did.
Hopefully when I come back here, Quang Tri will wear on a new clothes and be more developed than now.
