From Up in the Clouds to the Base of the Mountain!

We are back in the mountains of Paramin in Trinidad but this time did not at all stay long at the peak but instead took a grueling hike down the mountainside to the bottom just to get to a secluded beach down below called Paragrant Bay! The hike is steep and is not for the beginner or the faint of heart and takes around 2 hours at a medium pace. Believe it or not people run the whole thing up and down! Today, I give you a virtual tour of this magnificent beach as well as more hidden gems that one would not usually see without the drone!

We arrived at the village called Paramin on top of the mountain peaks found in northern Trinidad early in the morning. The air was crisp and cold but was so pristine and felt invigorating just to breathe in! Clouds covered the mountain peaks including the little village itself making us feel like we were up in heaven. It felt so simple and easy going up here I almost did not want to go on the hike again!

In the photo above, you can see Paragrant bay itself down below at the base of the mountain. We hiked down all of than on foot through the lush and beautiful tropical Caribbean forest. It was recharging yet the steep declines made me extremely worried about coming back up!

After around two hours and a half, we finally got the base of the mountain and immediately the tiredness and fatigue of the hike wore off when we saw the hidden paradise! It was all worth it with the sounds of the waves and the view of breathtaking emerald waters! This beach was like no other on the island we had ever been to before in terms of how it was shaped! As you can see in the photo above, the steep mountain side abruptly stops at the water itself leaving not much space for a sandy beach in this area though though, as you will see, there is a large sandy beach lower down.

The bay itself was not that large but it made it feel so exclusive and private. There were surprisingly a lot of people here, something that we did not expect! This beach was not at all known to that many people but apparently it is a well kept secret and the people that know about it frequent it!

The waters were so clean and clear. This is something that I must highlight as in Trinidad, there are not that many beaches with clear waters! There were many amazing hues such as blues, greens and turquoise. The water was so clear that we could see through to the bottom where there were rocks and so on as you can also view form the drone shots above.

We decided to explore the left side of the bay as we popped out at the right most side where there was so beach space at all to sit and relax while bathing. As I mentioned earlier, the beach is not at all that large and as you can see from the photos, there were lots of people having fun! It was amazing as there was no loud obnoxious music as you may find on the popular beaches and everyone was enjoying the natural untouched hidden gem, something that I cannot describe in words! As you can see the waters were not at all deep and quite shallow and the waves were relatively calm and serene!

It seemed that we saw all there was to see on this left most side of the beach but when I sent up the drone, there were so many things that we were missing out on! way past the beach was the peninsula that formed the bay itself and there were so many awesome coves and coastal formations that seemed too brilliant to be Trinidad! I really loved the multiple isthmuses that you can see above that formed what looked like three prongs or a fork! This was my favorite thing and all this was hidden from view from where we were at the bay! There were also some islets past this that were so huge and looked untouched and unexplored by humans!

The right side of the bay was just as exciting but the peninsula was much shorter but with much larger islets. At that point I would just call them small islands that were probable formed via the relentless ocean over eons! You can see also that the sandy beach area narrowed as it tended towards the leftmost side of the bay. You can even seem more larger peninsulas and bays in the background as the coastline stretched further eastwards!

We literally went from being able to touch the clouds up upon the mountain peaks in paramin to hiking all the way to the base of the mountain to get to Paragrant Bay in what I would call the hardest hike I have ever been on in my life yet it was so worth it and the experience and beach would be those that which I never forget! It will be a while before I attempt this again as you may understand and it felt good to literally conquer that mountain! Thanks a lot for coming along! Cheers!
