Hi peeps!
Today, let me give you a tour around the center of Amsterdam. People also call it the "Venice of the North" since the city has many canals.
Firstly, if you are a big fan of flowers and plants, Bloemenmarkt in Amsterdam will definitely be a place for you. Even if you are not, this market is still worth a visit as it is one of the most picturesque attractions in the city.
I love how they decorate the store. It is unique and pretty.
This iconic market was first opened in 1862. It is located on the Singel canal, which is in the center of Amsterdam. Besides, all the flower stalls stand on the houseboats, that is why it is called a floating market. (retrieved from https://www.holland.com/global/tourism/destinations/amsterdam/things-to-do/floating-flower-market.htm). I visited the market in December, 2019 with a friend. Despite the cold winter, there were still numerous types of gorgeous flowers such as tulips or roses that are shown, and sold in the market. They also sell tulip bulbs in ready-to-travel packets that we can bring home and grow them. I also bought one, but I did not succeed in taking care of it 😭. Visitors can also buy cheese there, which is another signature product of Amsterdam. We had a lot of fun on that day. Although we just spent around 1 hour there, the vibrant colours there really brightened up our winter day.
I wish I could buy all of them
I haven't seen this type of rose before. They are so beautiful, aren't they?

Then, strolling around the canals you can see a lot of narrow buildings and houses that have the same architectural style. Most of these constructions were built in the 16th Century, which was also the Dutch Golden Ages. Thus, these buildings follow the architectural style of this period, which is a peculiar Dutch interpretation of the Baroque, or Dutch Baroque for short(retrieved from https://amsterdamhangout.com/what-architectural-style-is-amsterdam/).
To me, Amsterdam is one of the cities that have the most impressive and unique architecture.
Photogenic canals with colorful buildings in the background. These buildings make me feel like I'm in a fairy tale.
If you are an avid fan of shopping, you must go to the Dam square. This jam-packed square has many stores and restaurants for you. Besides, if you are lucky, you can also see flash mob dances or small concerts there. To be honest, I never get bored of the activities in this square. During a week in Amsterdam, I literally went there everyday.

Fries are a must-try in Amsterdam and I highly recommend Manneken Pis. Normally, there will be a very long queue. However, you do not have to wait for long as they have a good system and it runs efficiently. In addition, they serve fries at low prices but with great portions and quality. Their fries are crispy, and there are also a wide range of sauces for you to choose.
Yummy fries from Manneken Pis
Amsterdam is also synonymous with its huge number of museums. Hence, if you still have time, you can choose one of the museums that you are interested in to visit. There are a lot of amazing museums such as Van Gogh museum, which is the world's largest Van Gogh collection, or Heineken museum, Eye film museum. They are all worth a visit.
I guess that's the end of today's tour. I hope it is a well spent day for you.
Thank you and see you next time!
