Today in the morning we woke up with a think layer of snow everywhere. The typical winter day reminded me of another winter day, a totally untypical actually, my very first visit to the beautiful old city of Kotor, Montenegro.
Located near the Kotor Bay on the shores of Adriatic Sea, this amazing city has everything - sea, mountain, castles, lovely residential buildings, churches, museums, restaurants, long story short - virtually everything a picky tourist might need.
A couple of year later I visited it again, at the end of the spring when it is already an active holiday season as the weather is warm enough for all kind of baths ;) However, I must say that I loved the city at winter as it was very calm, not overcrowded by the masses of people coming out of the huge cruise ships during the active holiday season.
I could see and feel the colorful mixture of different cultural and architectural influences during the ages:
The modern here has been blended into the old in the proper way:
I could tell for sure this was a very rich establishment, probably at the times it was related to Venice in Italy:
Once I got to the port at the bay shores I could tell a lot about the luxurious lifestyle:
Another example of blending ancient architecture and contemporary art:
Meanwhile the mountain has been calling me:
I enjoyed a lot the balconies with pots with blooming flowers at the middle of the winter:
Have a cup of coffee on the cold sands under the sun rays at the threshold of the new year was a lovely experience:
And just before I had to get back to our tour bus I was surrounded by those street brass musicians performing folklore music in quite an attractive way:
It was an unforgettable day being at Kotor, Montenegro!

i think that the Budva beach that you get to through the old town, with that long dock on the right. not sure about the name of it.
I've looked at the map meanwhile, I think it is "Plaža Ričardova Glava" as I remember I saw the churches to the right, "Santa Marija".

I am falling in love with this place! Mountains against the old brick structures - surreal and magnificent! I shall add this to my list of places to go to 📃
How long did you stay in Kotor?
I was having a winter break for few days in Dubrovnik, Croatia and I enjoyed the chance to visit two old cities in Montenegro - Kotor and Budva at a driving distance. I haven't had the necessary time to properly explore them and it is absolutely worthy as there is plenty to see, experience and taste! :)
