Mexico Part 10: One day at the most beautiful beach I know! (Fotos+Video)

After visiting the archeological sight in Tulum we went about just 2km further to the beach to check-in in our yurt for the night.

The first time I had been to Tulum in 2011, it was still a small village with only one supermarket, almost no hostels or hotels at the beach, and a lot of hippy freedom.

With the time it started to grow very fast and developed into a sustainable expensive hippy town, where people come to find peace but also have to have the money to do so!

The beach now is full of restaurants, beach clubs, and hotels - not many public areas left.. but I mean still... it is one of the most beautiful beaches in terms of sand and water I know!! That hasn't changed at all!

As everything in Tulum (nowadays) even on Airbnb, it was super expensive to book a night directly at the beach. - But what the hell! I was sure it would be worth it!

So arriving at the place I was positively surprised. It was more like camping then a hostel or else.. but a cool luxury one! The yurt was much more comfortable than expected, the staff super nice and the whole place was just awesome!

The yurt was fully furnished with a bed, mirror, bedside table, safe, and carpet.

The yurt was located in a private area with table and chairs outside. It counted with a mosquito net and lock to keep it closed and our things safe during the day.

So from there, we went to the beach to relax and have some drinks and a little bit of food at the beach restaurant.

After that and a few drinks, we decided to take a shower and go to sleep early. It was cool to sleep in this comfortable yurt right at the beach at night. I thought it would be very hot, but it was quite nice and we even heard the ocean and some birds in the morning!

What better way of staying the night??

The next morning we woke up early and walked to the beach to see the sunrise! It was very beautiful and impressive how calm and empty the area is in the morning compared to during the day!

We decided to do some yoga (sun salutation) while there was still nobody around and we could enjoy the energetic vibe.

Half an hour later I was really hungry! The beach bar in our place wasn't open yet, so we decided to walk a bit further to the Pocna Hotel. Yes, you heard right: HOTEL haha.

Pocna is THE Hostal to be at Isla Mujeres and a few years back it also started as a hostel in Tulum. So you can imagine how impressed I was when I saw that instead of dorms and hammocks there was standing an actual high-class hotel now.

Of course, the food was awesome, and with this view just marvelous.

What a great start to a beach day! Now I knew why it is so expensive to sleep right next to the beach: You start your day like this!!!- And yes, two blocks from the beach is not the same!! It has to be right there to have this feeling we had!

Anyways. Of course, we had the best spot to chill out for the whole day right in front of one of the big beds at the beach.

From there we not only had the best view on the ocean but also the people walking by haha. Really amusing! Of course, I jumped into the water a few times and we had great food and drinks - Again :)

Totally awesome to going to sleep to the sound of waves, waking up to stunning white beach ready to step out into the day!

Amazing destination thanks for sharing the experience @lizanomadsoul

Right! It was truly amazing and totally worth the price! Thanks for stopping by and your kind words @joanstewart❤️🙏

Nice pictures. I should be happy looking at these pictures but I am sad. These pictures remind me that I had to cancel three trips this year that I planned for almost a year. I know I am not the only one.

I wish I was enjoying a beach this summer.

Lol for us it is the same! We would have gone to Egypt, South Africa, and Portugal.. Instead, we are home at balconia.... Sad story but safety first 🙄😢

Safety first. However, I am now beginning to think it is very possible that I will be spending the whole of 2020 inside my tiny apartment😌
Stay safe.

Haha could be! But that will change eventually! Lets just hope for better times 😉

Hello Liza,

you are very welcome @allsway! Cool! Where do you have it? In the middle of nature, I hope! It is in fact very comfortable! I know 😉 Yesterday we went to another lake and today we will build a pool and do some BBQ, but more about that soon 😉

Not so in nature as I want. We buy it few years ago to camp differently but for the moment we put it every summer in the garden of grand parents house in bretagne

Thanks @pinmapple 👍🙂

Wow, this was so much fun to view your pics. I have spent just one day near the beach, and I truly loved it.

I once had an opportunity to spend a night in a tent like that, but not near a beach, in the mountains. But it snowed too much in the evening and we had to go back to the hotel. lol.

BTW, how do you travel so much? Is it your profession, or do you do it just for fun?

Glad to hear that @looftee! I love it to bring joy and fun to the people with my posts!! Where have you been close to the beach? I am jealous!! haha
Oh, in the mountains it also must be nice to wake up in a tent-like this, having an awesome view over the valley! - A shame you had to go back! but safety first 😉

Well, how do I travel so much? Good question haha! It started when I was 16 years old and I did an exchange in Chile for 3 months to improve my Spanish. I think from that moment on I had the travel bug. So after graduation, I traveled again for a year within Latin America. After that, I studied tourism and economics and they sent me over to Mexico already during my studies.. and then I was there for 3 years enjoying the Caribbean until I met @luzcypher and could live from volunteering in hostels and blogging about my travels. (that year bitcoin was at 20 000). So I traveled for another year and got stuck in Paris for 8 months after haha. Don't know. After that, I just did a few travels here and there but not long ones anymore. I want to though!! I guess once you have the travel bug it is hard to stop! There is just so much to see and do in this beautiful world!!And I love exploring and really living, instead of being in this hamster wheel.. you know what I mean?

Hope that answers your question @looftee 😉🙂 What about you? Do you travel a lot?

Yeah I know what you mean. I used to travel a lot. Not out of the country, never had enough money to do that.

But enough to travel within every month or so.

I have travelled almost all of India, except a few places, that are for special journey. Like Ladakh, where I want to go on a solo bike journey.

I think taking a break in between is important too. I travelled a lot in 2017, and 2018. So, I was kind of worn out. And little bit bored. Now, after 6 months of not travelling any where, I am dying to travel again. I love this feeling😄

Yes, sometimes you need a vacation from the vacation 😉 Oh yes the flight is expensive, but often after that, if you are a long time traveller it is ok to volunteer at some hostels to stay for free or do something in return to safe money on your trip. Also, street food is super good and not that expensive! Nice! India is still on my list, I have never been so far!! Seems like now I know who to ask if I ever can go there with time!!

haha, sure. You will find never ending adventure here😄

That sounds awesome!! So how long can I travel there to see most of it? 3 month? less? That will be a long travel series on Hive haha

I think 3 months are okay for one time, you can travel almost most of the important places. Start with south, Mumbai, Kerala, TamilNadu, Goa, then North Rajasthan, Himachal, Rishikesh...and in between east....and then go back from Delhi😄 Lol, you could get more than enough content here. India is all about content😂

Woow it sure looks you had a great time😊👍

We did!!! I wish we would still be there 😉 I miss the beach!

It seems like you have enjoyed your beach day a lot. All I wanna say I want to go to the beach, here in Kharkiv we don't have any sea beach, we have only lake beaches...
Have a nice weekend dear...

Oh we sure did @priyanarc!! There is nothing better than a day at the beach!! I could do it over and over again for the rest of my life 😂
I also miss being on the beach! This was already back in February!! Since Covid we are stuck in the south of Germany! - So same as for you, no beach, - only lakes and mountains around! You too have a nice week love 🙂👍

Wow. Awesome. Wish I was there.
