When it comes to travel, some destinations are ideal for roughing it by camping in tents, but if you're hiking up mountains, you can even book a stay in a cave equipped with basics. Those wanting to camp in style, go glamping.
We used to go camping when my children were young, a load of fun, but a ton of packing!
About fifteen years ago we took the plunge and bought holiday club points with Dream Vacations
We were a bit apprehensive at first as we'd also committed ourselves to monthly levies, however, the concept of taking a break any time of the year at various destinations all over South Africa, and beyond its borders, really appealed.
Have we regretted this investment? A definite no as we've had some really fabulous holidays and been able to invite friends and family along, making memories that will last forever.
A couple of years ago, a group of us needed to go away, and when I saw that there is a penthouse suite in the Blue Marlin Hotel, on the South Coast of Kwazulu Natal, I immediately booked.
Little did I realize just how big this would be - 5 bedrooms with 4 bathrooms, 3 balconies all overlooking the Indian Ocean, a large well-appointed kitchen, a diningroom, and the enormous living room offering three cosy corners plus another large dining table. There was a pool table when we went the last time but that's been moved elsewhere in the hotel.
We recently went there for lunch, and they kindly took us up to the penthouse to show our friends who were unable to join us previously, so I will be taking you on a tour of the lovely penthouse.
I was once again astounded at the size of this holiday accommodation with its massive living room, and the gorgeous decor that goes with it.

The large balcony with a BBQ gives one the most amazing views.
A really nice view of the Mpambanyoni River with the railway bridge and the Indian Ocean.
The Scottburgh beach is popular with swimmers, surfers and fishermen, with putt-putt and a couple of restaurants as well.
This dining table doubled up as a 'casino' where we had loads of fun. My brother always takes his casino games along, even though he is not fond of real casinos, but it's a ton of fun throwing away and winning fake money :)
The dining room sits between the living room and kitchen, and this was the ladies' board games table.
The large open-plan kitchen is next on the tour; really super and well-appointed.
As we run a BnB, I'm always interested in the decor, and these did not disappoint, each had its own style, all understated, nothing lavish. They all had their own bathrooms, except for the smaller bedroom.

The main bedroom came with a whirlpool bath and its own balcony.
After revisiting this lovely apartment, I'm definitely going to gather a few friends and family again for a midweek breakaway no matter the weather. Fun and laughter with friends and family are one of the best ways to recharge!

That place is so peaceful looking. The views around there are just breathtaking. Hope you get that group of friends and family for a big awesome get together. You deserve to sit back relax and have some good laughs.😊
I can't wait to do that again Carolyn, we had an awesome time there despite the miserable weather.
I still want to go glamping as well, the holiday club have a couple resorts with that. It's really made our holidays affordable.

We wanted to go again but on our days off they had to close because there are staff shortages like all places in this country. Help wanted signs plaque the neighbourhood. We will settle for the park. Enjoy your week as well.
Many South Africans are emigrating to Canada, they say it's easier to find work in your country, makes sense from what you're saying.
My niece & her husband recently moved to Strasbourg in Saskatchewan, he's a farmer, they're loving it so far!

It's an explicit beauty. So dreamy and heavenly. I love the twin beds and that the sheets are white with lovely framed photographs above the beds.

What a great room. That's traveling in style. Definitely a rain or shine adventure too. I'd perfectly fine spending a weekend or more in those accomodations
