Hello friends of Hive, I hope you are having a wonderful week with family and friends. In this opportunity, I will tell you about my stay in an abandoned geographic jewel, which I dare to point out, is one of the most beautiful in Havana. I make reference, to the old beach and resort complex of "La Concha."

This enclave formed by nature, constitutes several segments of white sand beach. They received the name of Playa La Concha, thanks to the great abundance of seashells, which ended at the edge of the sand.

For a long time, it was a paradisiacal haven for the inhabitants of the old Marianao municipality. They enjoyed this natural retreat during the summer season. Curiously, the Cuban constitutional government of the 50's had as a culmination in the recreation of the people of Havana, these beaches, which had been created a complex of facilities to provide services to bathers.

However, after the triumph of Castro's Revolution, the facilities gradually began to decline in their maintenance. First of all, they passed to the administration of the Playa municipality. Second, priority was given to other nearby facilities, such as the Cocos Island Amusement Park. And third, they turned it into a reservoir of waste from various constructions. Under the excuse that there were no funds to maintain this place.

In spite of this, the people of Havana, mainly the people of Marianao, continue to visit the beach clandestinely. Since, their entrance is not penalized. Unfortunately, this brought a lot of vandalism to the old buildings, as well as contamination of the sand and the sea.

But, as if it were a natural virtue, you will be able to appreciate in the photographs, that the beach manages to stay standing. In a beauty, peace, and perfect climate for its own ecosystem. That combines very well with the care of decent citizens, who without receiving anything in return from the government, take care of the beach. In which, people like me and my partner can take a good time of rest, witnessing the natural beauty, and surfing enthusiasts.

Really very interesting place, beautiful, but it seems abandoned. If I understand correctly it is located in Cuba, can you confirm?

Correct, it is located in Cuba. And it is one of the many abandoned places in my country.
