Bovine - Col de la Forclaz - Trient - Col de Balme - Le Tour - Auberge le Boerne
Day 5 - https://peakd.com/hive-163772/@loulou1987/tour-du-mont-blanc-day-5
We are waking up into a foggy morning but it is not raining. Hikers who got up much earlier than us are passing our place and greeting us. We are drying out our tents, having breakfast and starting our next journey.
Being in a good mood, we are walking down a mildly steep hill and everything feels perfect.
There should be a campsite in about one hour from our spot and we would like to stop there for a beer, coffee, food and toilet.
Coming to a restaurant, we all are ordering some beers. It tastes delicious, we are sitting on the sun and having just 15 km ahead. We don´t have to hurry and we are just sitting and relaxing. With another beer, the mood is even better and we are ordering some fries.
They are gone within 5 minutes as well as our beers. We are ordering the same again. I start to feel really carefree and I am happy that we still can stay sitting. They have wonderful cakes and we are ordering some of them.
In the meantime, somebody has parked their horses just next to the fence where we had our clothes.
After 3 hours we decided to continue on our way. We have only 15 km but nobody will do them for us.
Maybe also because of the beer, the quickest one of us is suddenly walking in the same pace as us and we are chatting and laughing.
The journey is relaxing, we are walking through a cool forest and after one hour of descent to Trient, we are ascending again. Our target is Col de Balme.
After the zigzags which I don´t like so much, we are overwhelmed by wonderful views again.
The stateliness and greatness of the mountains is just reminding me how small we all are with our pains and troubles.
After some hot chocolate on the top, we are walking down to a valley in Le Tour.
Mountains are coming out from behind the clouds, accompanied by Mont Blanc.
After about another hour of our way, we are coming to our today destination. It is a comfortable bivouac near a stream, which is great because we have water just next to us. There is also a small cottage next to the bivouac and we can use its showers and toilets and have something to drink and eat in the local pub. In front of the pub, I can see some familiar shoes and in a while, Dan is coming to say hi. We didn´t see him for a few days. We are sitting and sharing our experience from the track, having some French beer and getting ready for our next night. Dan wants to finish the whole tour only the next day. We are not so ambitious, it is still some 27 km with quite high elevation but we have a bit sad feelings because we know that this great trip is slowly coming to its end.
