Desire to travel : Chefchaouen, the hidden jewel of Morocco

in Pinmapplelast year

Hello my dear friends !

If you are planning a trip to Morocco, it is inevitable that you have heard of the city of Chefchaouen. Located in the Rif Mountains, Chefchaouen is known for its blue and white houses, which have earned it the nickname "Blue City". The city is a true hidden treasure of Morocco, known for its unique architecture, culture and peaceful atmosphere.

When you arrive in Chefchaouen, the first thing that catches your attention is the use of the color blue. The houses, streets and doors are all painted blue, creating a beautiful and unique landscape. It is said that this tradition began many centuries ago, when Jews brought their culture and architecture to Chefchaouen.

The history of Chefchaouen dates back to the 15th century, when it was founded by Moulay Ali Ben Moussa Ben Rached El Alami. The city was built to serve as a stronghold against the Portuguese who conquered the neighboring city of Ceuta. Today, Chefchaouen is a thriving city and a meeting place for travelers from around the world.

In addition to its unique architecture, Chefchaouen is also known for its local crafts. Handmade carpets and pottery are famous throughout the region, and travelers can purchase souvenirs to take home. Chefchaouen's cuisine is also a highlight of the city. Traditional Moroccan dishes, such as tagine and couscous, are served in local restaurants, while the markets sell fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as spices and herbs. If you want to visit Chefchaouen you must try the Moroccan mint tea, a sweet and refreshing hot drink that is an essential part of Moroccan culture (it is my favorite drink and has many health benefits).

If you're looking to relax and escape the hectic city life, Chefchaouen is the place to be. The city is located in the Rif Mountains, offering a breathtaking view of the surrounding landscape. You can walk through the streets of the medina, discover hidden places and admire the fountains and historic mosques.

Chefchaouen is easily accessible from major Moroccan cities such as Tangier and Fez. You can get there by car, bus or cab. Once there, you can walk or take a cab to discover all the treasures of the city.

Chefchaouen is a hidden gem of Morocco, worth a visit for its unique architecture, local craftsmanship and peaceful atmosphere. If you are looking for a place to relax and discover a rich and diverse culture, Chefchaouen is the place for you.
