Lake Scropoasa in the heart of the mountains, Romania

in Pinmapple โ€ข 13 days ago (edited)

Hey guys,

It's been quite a lot since I wrote a post in the community and because my heart is wondering far far away from home, somewhere hiking, a lake or a mountain view ๐Ÿ˜, I remembered I have these photos taken last year in September when I visited Lake Scropoasa, in Bucegi Mountains, here in my beautiful Romania. ๐Ÿ’š

Just to be clear, Lake Scropoasa is an amazingly nature place, you just need good weather, a bright sun and no clouds at all. Unfortunately we didnt get any of these LOL ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ.

Here's a comparison of how the lake looked like when I visited and how gorgeous it is when there are no clouds.

Bright sunny day: Source Photo taken by me in a cloudy day

I don't need to say that even though the view wasnt as I expected, this day was simply amazing. The most important part was that we had a lot of fun during our walk. We were three couples, @triplug and his wife, @pink.wizz and her fiance. It's those moments of shared laughter and adventure that stick with us and make life so special. It's great to have a circle of friends who can turn any day into a memorable one.

In order to get here, we needed to do an easy hike, walking trough the Cheile Zanoagei, beautiful and easy mountain trail. (I will write another post for this one) ๐Ÿ˜

We hiked about 2 hours, with taking photos included. It's really a beautiful trail. I think the whole trail is about 6 km round trip.

The trail is very well marked, you can't get lost.

Some geographical data about this lake

Lake Scropoasa is located in the Bucegi Mountains, in the valley of the Ialomita River. It is an artificial dam lake built in 1929 for hydropower purposes. The lake is located at an altitude of 1,197 m, maximum depth 15 m and occupies an area of 5.7 ha.
Lacul Scropoasa este รฎn prezent utilizat ศ™i pentru agrement ศ™i este unul dintre cele mai importante obiective turistice din Muntenia. (Wikipedia source)

Bucegi Mountains are among the most famous mountain ranges in Romania, being of great structural and morphological complexity.

I wanted to come here since forever. WHY? Simple enough, More simple than this I can't write it.

Scropoasa Lake is a stunning natural wonder nestled in the Carpathian Mountains. ๐Ÿ’š

Its calm waters, surrounded by green trees and tall mountains, create a beautiful sight that leaves visitors amazed. The lake's pure beauty and peaceful vibe make it a great spot for people who love nature and adventure. Whether you're walking by the lake, enjoying the reflections of the scenery, or just relaxing, Scropoasa Lake gives you a memorable experience.

I was in love with the place the moment I saw the first picture of this place. Here in Romania we have beautiful nature places and mountains.

20230917_130024.jpg20230917_124608.jpg20230917_130040.jpg

We were very excited when we got here. We stayed for a couple of moments to enjoy the view and then headed back. If I had to say it, I think I enjoyed the walk to get here more than the lake intself. And now I remember that quote saying enjoyng the ride, not the destination only. This time, I think I enjoyed the road more haha. But to be honest, it happened to me a lot. When travel with friends and spending time together, is more about this than the place itself. At least this is how it is for me and my heart.
Being together in these little adventures of ours is more precious to me. I am a social person, even though I don't have a lot of friends...but I give 100% all of me with my true relationships.

What about you? Do you prefer travel alone, with your partner or with friends too?

After passing through the natural keys, we arrived to a crossroads, from where you turn left towards the waterfall and ahead towards the lake.

Here you will find also a caravan that serves food and they has terrace where you could serve the meal.

What WaterFall you ask?

Waterfall 7 Izvoare

We took a left turn, crossed a bridge, and strolled along a forest path for around 10 minutes until we arrived at Cascada 7 Izvoare.

The waterfall is incredibly beautiful, with multiple cascades formed by springs that flow through lush greenery, filling the air with a refreshing, ionized breeze.

It's said that the water at Cascada 7 Izvoare is among the purest in the world because it passes through a deposit of silver before reaching the surface, which helps purify it to a high degree.

20230917_140001.jpg

In conclusion, the lake captivates with its vibrant green-turquoise hue under the sun's rays.Too bad we didnt really saw those.
Also, within the forest, there are two spots where you can get to the lake's shore, making it an ideal spot for picnics during the summer months while taking in the breathtaking scenery.

I would say that, despite the trail being relatively easy, it's essential to have basic mountain gear. Ensuring you have appropriate footwear is crucial; traversing wet stones without proper boots or hiking shoes poses a risk.

Overall, the journey to Lake Scropoasa and the 7 Springs Waterfall is exceptionally scenic and beginner-friendly, making it an ideal adventure.

Stay safe,

missdeli ๐Ÿ’“

I think I could call you "forest girl", of course not in the negative sense that this name appears in our stories and legends. I have come to this opinion by reading your recent posts, you say you are in love with the forest and are happy whenever you can walk the mountain paths.

I'm trying to understand why I remain just a sea lover. I think some phobias are to blame, like fear of heights and claustrophobia. I like open spaces and seeing the horizon. Sorry, I was talking about myself and that's not the case.

I'm thinking that the attraction to hiking in the mountains is also the energy that youth gives.
I love that you promote the beauties of Romania and that it feels like you sincerely love these places.

In my youth I also liked to travel with friends, I went to the mountains once, haha, but mostly to the sea. The holidays in 85-90 at the sea, at Vama Veche and 2 Mai, remained the best memories with our friends. Then there were more than ten, now there are three left (and not one of them died, among those who are no more)...
So enjoy your friends when they are still around!

fear of heights and claustrophobia

Oh God, that's not good. You're missing out on a lot of wonderful things.
If I were to choose between sea or mountains, I would choose the latter, without thinking. We have so many wonderful mountains here.

True, but we don't choose our phobias. We have a beautiful country and the mountains contribute a lot to this beauty.
When I refer to the sea I don't necessarily think of our Black Sea, I try not to be necessarily patriotic.

I know you were not particularly referring to the Black Sea. For me, there's no sea that could beat the mountains.

It is normal to be so. You live close to the mountains.
I exaggerated a bit, I like the mountains too, I've done a few hikes too but the sea was more accessible.

I do love our Romania and the last few years I visited quite a few places and there are still more to see. I think hiking and the mountains give us a totally feeling than the sea, but I'm not saying one is better than other. I love both and I appreciate the beauty of them because where I live I dont have big mountains or the dark blue see.
I'm sorry you have those phobias, I wonder if they were still when you were young..

Yes, I preffer hiking through the mountains and forests....I think. The sea...is something else. More to relax. But the mountains gives u a different relaxation.

I'll see the sea soon, our sea. ๐Ÿ’™

The fact that you love Romania and pass this on to your son is very nice and I admire you for that, @missdeli!
The fact that you want and can enjoy both the sea and the mountains equally is the best choice and you have the biggest reward.
I was drawn to the sea by several things, firstly I have always been drawn to the water.

My phobias are smaller, more timid and don't bother me much. Height sickness is more pronounced, whenever I'm up on something very high I'm tempted to try flying without a parachute. So far I have resisted this temptation...

You will go to the sea, to the Black Sea, to us. I guess I can guess when and where. At Easter, in Constanta, right?

I also have two trips planned, to two seas. One week after Easter, to the Black Sea, to the Lighthouse, near Balchik, and in June, to the Sithonia peninsula, near Athos. I will betray Thassos but without my will. On the other hand, I'm glad to see another part of Greece.

You know when God laughs?
When we plan for the future!

I hope he doesn't laugh at my plans...

I'm sorry for my late reply...my life has been a bit....let's say different, the last two weeks.

Yes, I am in Cta at the moment. You were right.
Sithonia sounds nice, its on my list too. The fact that is a bit more closer makes it approachable. I would enjoy visiting other parts of Greece too and even if its not Thassos, I am sure you would enjoy your time. You cant go wrong with Greece.
Two trips to the sea sounds really amazing!

I hope all your plans will be checked on the list.

I think I could call you "forest girl"

Sorry @bluemoon, I could not resist ๐Ÿ˜‚

untitled.gif

Ha, ha... I don't mind at all. I'd love to be the " forest girl " but, considering I'm over 70, I can only be the " forest mother", in Romanian: Baba Cotoroanta! I'd need a broom to fly...

Baba Cotoroanta

๐Ÿ˜‚ This is something I haven't heard for decades and brought back kindergarten memories. One of the kids told my grandmother she's Baba Cotoroanta and she got so mad ๐Ÿ˜

You flying a broom? Would be interesting for sure!

Did I say broom? Wrong... I meant vacuum cleaner. I train every week.

๐Ÿ˜‚

Thanks, I need to practice more.

Thats funny too ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

Omg soo sooo funny! I had a serious laugh with this one ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ
However, dont be surprised seeing me like that. My brain is still young ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ

I can imagine you as Mrs Tarzan ๐Ÿ˜‚ and there's nothing wrong in doing such things, regardless of your or anyone's age ๐Ÿ˜‰

By the way, I love how you included some geographical data about the lake. I had to learn more about the places you visited.

Keep on sharing your adventures, and I'm looking forward to your next post about the beautiful mountain trail you mentioned.

Definitely the whole experience with my friends made our day...the sceneray....is just a beautiful one but it wouldnt be if alone ๐Ÿ’™.

Thank you kindly for you nicely words! Appreciate it.

Awww ๐Ÿ˜, you made me want to visit this place asap! I love mountains and it reminds me of Lacu Rosu. As tired and drained as I am now, a week in such a place would work wonders. Good thing it's pinned to the map, so we can read your post in case this beauty becomes our destination. Have a wonderful day ๐Ÿค—๐Ÿ˜˜

ย 11 days agoย (edited)ย

Go on a sunny day! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿค—
However, a walk through the Cheile Zanoagei or any other places similar with this one....would make your day.
Lacu Rosu...I only saw it passing by. I mean, we stopped our car but my husband that day wasnt in the mood for "natural landscape seeeing", we just admired those huge keys on the road and moved on. I would love to see it much closer.

Have a lovely day and sorry for my late reply. I had such a....worried day yesterday and today and I'm still hangging by the rope here..maybe I will tell you some day in private ๐Ÿฅฐ but now....I am pretty much a wreck. ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿค—

I'm sorry to hear that and hope things get better soon. Don't worry about late replies, real life is more important!

Take care of yourself and all the best! ๐Ÿ˜˜๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿซ

Hey! I needed some time for myself. Thank you for your sweet reply! โค๏ธ

Wow, the place is so beautiful it screams tranquility. Want to visit the place.

Definitely a good place to be visited.

Very nice place to visit, the atmosphere there looks very cool and peaceful.this waterfall is very beautiful.

It is exactly as you mentioned! Thank you for your comment . I'm glad you liked this place in my Romania.

Great trip. Being immersed in nature and having fun with friends seems like a wonderful experience.

Definitely one of the best moments someone can have along friends!

Beautiful nature ๐Ÿ˜

The cover photos looked scary at first glance hehe

Haha ๐Ÿ˜†
Maybe it can look a bit scary, I understand why!

๐Ÿ˜š๐Ÿ˜š

Oh yes!! Been there 3 times already and would return anytime. The camping activity is a whole new experience there with so many bears around!

Sorry for my late reply. I've been dealing with some...stuff in real life and didnt have time or the mood to be online. Mentioning the bears, it sounds a bit scary! ๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜

How are u? Good? ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿฅฐ

Crazy life for me also.. everything seems a lot better online for sure! Just enjoying the very few days free I have with the holidays. Are you good now? Happy Easter in advance! โค๏ธ

I am good I think. I need a few more days to know exactly if I'm good. I dont know how it sounds at the moment ๐Ÿ˜… but I'll tell you more someday.

Happy Easter for you too and enjoy your free days! ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿฅฐ

Oh.. I see! We should catch up with one of our long conversations one day! So much passed since we properly had one haha. Happy Easter to you too, my dear! ๐Ÿ˜

Thank you for your lovely comment! And I'm sorry for my late reply ๐Ÿฅฐ

Scropoasa Lake is so stunning and amazing. Is that the color of the water โ€” green? So beautiful and I enjoyed reading your post about the place.
#dreemerforlife

It looks green only when the sky is covered of clouds. You could google it to make yourself an idea of how it looks when its brigther ourside.

Thank you for your comment!

this is a majestic tour, a scene of fantasy in real life, I would like to be there, what a wonderful opportunity.

Glad you liked the virtual nature tour!๐Ÿ˜Š

Wao! How beautiful, even cloudy it looks spectacular, it has a mystical aspect, and the little houses look to me like small temples to stay there to meditate jjjjj

Yes, it looks beautiful no matter the weather. This is what I discovered myself with this trip.

Thank u for your comment and sorry for my late reply! ๐Ÿ˜Š

Wow friend how beautiful, it's amazing, I know you mentioned that on sunny days it looks nicer but the truth is I don't know what more beautiful it could be, in these pictures you share with us I was totally enchanted.

Definitely you have a good point here.
This place looks amazing either way.

I'm glad you enjoyed the photos and the virtual tour to the lake!
Also sorry for my late reply, I needed a few days offline! ๐Ÿฅฐ

Wow! Such beautiful scenery! Some activities are more enjoyable when done in company of people that love and understand you.
#dreemerforlife

Agree with you 100%. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Oh yes, I remember that day with great nostalgia, and yes, I was unlucky not to catch a sunny day, even a few hours before it rained heavily.
At some point I would really like to repeat the experience and why not choose other routes, there are enough in Romania๐Ÿ˜‰

Yes...maybe we can choose the other keys to traspass...๐Ÿค” But either way, any trip in nature will be fully enjoyed if spent with you , guys!

I can't wait for the next one, which we still don't know when it will be๐Ÿ˜‰

Everything is beautiful โค
Now am so sure I'll love to visit place like this too and of course with a partner, i can't imagine any fun in traveling alone to a place as beautiful as this๐Ÿ˜ฉ๐Ÿ˜โค

#dreemerforlife

Thats for me too, I can't imagine traveling alone, in any place. ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜†

Wow! Just Wow!!! This is a very beautiful place to visit. The atmosphere also looks calming. Thank you for sharing.

#dreemerforlife

Thank you for stopping by on my blog! โ˜บ๏ธ

Sounds like you had an amazing walk - what a pity the sun wasn't shining for you! But maybe that means that you have to return one day hehe. You have some beautiful natural forests in your country. Stunning scenery! I imagine it must be quite gorgeous in the summer.

#dreemerforlife

Definitely a place to return to! I wouldnt say No if I'll have the chance coming again.
It is an amazing place in all seassons. But I think you can't come here in winter, the valley you must walk on to get here is too dangerous if it's icy.
