Happy new year all my friends!!
Now that the tumultuous year of 2021 has come to an end, let us look ahead to 2022 and pray for everyone to always be filled with joy and convenience at work. I hope that the covid pandemic will fade away gradually and that the world will be healthy and happy.
Today I'd like to take you to a special church, Nha Trang Cathedral, which is the pride of Nha Trang's Catholics.
Geographical location
- The address is 1 Thai Nguyen street, Phuoc Tan ward, Nhatrang city, Khanh Hoa province. The church has a number of different names such as the Mountain church because it is built on a small hill top, the Nhatrang church because it belongs to the Nhatrang Christendom and Christ the King Cathedral is the official name.
- The church is located on Hoang Lan hill, 12 meters above city level, and covers an area of 720 square meters.
- This location is very easy to find; you can get there by any mode of transportation, including a motorcycle, a taxi, a bus, a bicycle, or even by walking.
Church building process
- In the 1885s, Nhatrang was only a few fishing villages scattered along the coast. Catholics lived and participated in religious activities in Cho Moi parish at that time.
- The French colonial government arrived in Nhatrang in 1886 to construct two major works, the Pasteur Institute and the Institute of Oceanography. For the sake of convenience for taking care of their health, fishing villagers relocated here.
- To meet the needs of parishioners and French residents, a small chapel was built temporarily on the beach of Nha Trang, which is now the Bishopric of Nha Tranh at 22 Tran Phu.
- Recognizing the people's need for religious activities, priest Louis Vallet (1869-1945) established a parish in Nhatrang and proceeded to build the Nui Nha Trang church. His grave is now at the base of the mountain.
- The church began construction on the top of Hoang Dang mountain on September 3, 1928, hence the name Mountain church. It was completed in May 1933. It's been 89 years, but the church is still standing strong in the face of change.
Nhatrang Cathedral's architecture
-The church facing north is 36m long or 20m long, very strong, and made of time-stained stone cubes. The church appears to be made of split stone at first glance, but it is actually made of stone blocks cast with cement and sand.
- The church is designed in the style of European Gothic architecture, with arches that look like arrows pointing straight up to the sky.
- The designers used a variety of blue and red glass in the arches and rose doors to effectively exploit the sunlight from the East and West directions. All have contributed to the creation of a lovely and gentle scene, softening the inherent solemnity that can be found in places of worship.
- The sanctuary is an open space, and the stained glass paintings of Saints create a brilliant and luxurious beauty here.
- The Church is divided into three main areas, with two rows of corridors on each side and the official place of worship through the middle door.
- The bell tower is 38 meters high from the road surface. There are four large clocks on the bell tower, located on four sides facing four diections.
- Bronze bells are cast by the famous French bell company Bourdon Carillon. One mi flat sound, and one doh sound, when raised the sound reverberates throughout the region.
- There are many small drawers attached to the stone wall along the path to the church. It is the deceased's remains that have been removed from the parish cemetery.
- There are many statues of saints and apostles around the church grounds, and the church also planted many trees, making the campus very cool and beautiful.
When visiting the church, take the following notes:
- Admission is free.
- Working hours weekday: 5am-17pm
Sunday : 5am-7am, 11h-16h30pm - Mass time weekday: 4h45am, 17hpm
Sunday: 5ham, 7ham, 9h30am,15hpm, 16h30pm, 18h30pm
If you come to visit, keep in mind the time of mass celebrations and try not to make too much noise. dress formal. - Many couples choose this location for their wedding photos.
- There are numerous beautiful angles from which to photograph.
