Hello everybody! Today I want to tell you about another interesting city - Volendam, located next to Edam (about Edam here: https://ecency.com/hive-163772/@oleftinka/eng-and-ru-travel-memories-3b1329b7d7f03).
Volendam is located on the shore of Lake Markermer and is a village where fishermen used to live in the past. Today, by visiting Volendam, you can plunge into the atmosphere of everyday life of real Dutch people.
In the XIX century, there was a port in Volendam for transporting products produced in the neighboring town of Edam, so the village became more famous. Today Volendam is a tourist center.

Привет всем! Сегодня я хочу рассказать об еще одном интересном городе Волендам, расположенном по соседству с городом Эдам (про Эдам здесь: https://ecency.com/hive-163772/@oleftinka/eng-and-ru-travel-memories-3b1329b7d7f03).
Волендам располагается на берегу озера Маркермер и представляет собой деревню, где в прошлом жили рыбаки. Сегодня же, посетив Волендам, можно окунуться в атмосферу повседневной жизни настоящих голландцев.
В XIX веке в Волендаме находился порт для транспортировки продуктов, производившихся в соседнем городе Эдам, поэтому деревня стала более известной. Сегодня Волендам - туристический центр.
The most popular attraction of Volendam is the marina, where there are a large number of cafes, shops, souvenir shops. The rest of the village is located well below the marina and this is no coincidence. The marina is located on the dam and allows to protect the Volendam from flooding. From here you can also go to the neighboring island - the village of Marken.
Наиболее популярной достопримечательностью Волендама является набережная, на которой располагается большое количество кафе, магазинов, сувенирных лавок. Остальная часть деревни находится значительно ниже набережной и это неслучайно. Набережная располагается на дамбе и позволяет защитить Волендам от затоплений.
Отсюда также есть возможность отправиться на соседний остров - деревню Маркен.
From the embankment, you can observe a huge number of moored fishing boats.
С набережной можно наблюдать огромное количество пришвартованных рыболовных суден.
Traditional Dutch houses are located on the Volendam embankment. They allow you to better convey the atmosphere of a fishing village. An interesting fact is that the windows of many homes are not covered with curtains. This old tradition originated in those days when sailors went to sea for a long time, and their wives didn't hang curtains to show their loyalty.
На набережной Волендама располагаются традиционные голландские дома. Они позволяют лучше передать атмосферу рыбацкой деревни. Интересным фактом является то, что окна многих домой не завешивают шторами. Это старая традиция зародилась в те времена, когда моряки надолго уходили в море, а их жены не завешивали шторы, чтобы показать свою верность.
Volendam is a fabulous fishing village with few attractions, but there is an atmosphere of the real Netherlands. it is worth coming here at least for the sake of trying the famous herring and walking along the embankment.
Волендам - сказочная рыбацкая деревня, в которой немного достопримечательностей, однако есть атмосфера настоящих Нидерландов. приехать сюда стоит хотя бы ради того, чтобы попробовать знаменитую селедку и прогуляться по набережной.
I also want to share a photo from our beautiful hotel "Utrecht" where we lived in the Netherlands. It's located in the city of Utrecht. The city looks especially beautiful from the hotel windows.
Хочу еще поделиться фото из нашего красивого отеля "Utrecht", в котором мы жили в Нидерландах. Он находится в городе Утрехт. Особенно красиво выглядит город из окон отеля.
