Hello, and welcome to my blog :)
Do you enjoy late afternoon strolls? Those where we can walk, watch the sunset, without rushing, without schedules, just enjoying that moment? I love it. Whenever we can, off we go. In the summer, it's easier since the days are longer, but still, there are no excuses.
On one of these days, after a hectic day, we decided to unwind in Leça da Palmeira. The sunlight was starting to fade, painting the sky with soft colors. The main avenue was calm with many people walking, running, taking their pets for a stroll, and children riding their bicycles, skates, and scooters. The characteristic cafes and restaurants along this avenue had their terraces full, and in the air, there was music and the chatter and laughter of those there.
That day, the sea was agitated, displaying its power with large waves. They crashed onto the shore with a roar, forming abundant foam that caught curious glances, especially from the children. The little ones ran along the beach, trying to reach the foam spreading across the sand.
The adults admired the spectacle, and some curious ones also approached.
We decided to stop at one of these cafes, eager to appreciate the beauty of that late afternoon. Seated at one of the bustling terraces, we ordered three steaming hot chocolates. As we warmed ourselves a bit, we savored the spectacle of nature 😊
Recharged by the warmth and enchantment of the view, we resumed our walk along the main avenue, keeping the sea as our companion. As we advanced, in the distance, we spotted the Leça Lighthouse, with its imposing structure. The lighthouse is known as the Boa Nova Lighthouse and is the second largest in Portugal. It was inaugurated in 1927 and still remains functional to this day. It is considered a monument of industrial archaeology and Portugal's first electric lighthouse. For the bravest who wish to visit, there are 213 steps of a spiral staircase 😊
Around the lighthouse, the atmosphere was serene and striking at the same time, as if its stone walls held secrets from a distant past. The view of the agitated sea from there was breathtaking.
Not far away, there is a refinery, once a bustling industrial center, now resting in silence after its recent deactivation. For many years, it played an important role in supplying fuels throughout the country.
As the sun slowly bid farewell on the horizon, we also took the opportunity to go to the next point, but that's for another day 😊
These late afternoons always stay in our memory, whether it's the energy of the sea or the tranquility brought by the walk, absorbing the unique essence of this spectacle of nature.
If you have the opportunity, go on more of these walks, in the best company or even alone, as it's necessary from time to time. Be it by the sea, in the middle of the forest, or even in the city center. Wherever you feel happy.
Life is a passage, and always remember: "When we leave, we only take a change of clothes, and we don't even get to choose that." Make the most of it, create memories as those are the ones that will always stay with you and those around you.
