This is a post about my visit to Kelly Park Rock Spring, Orlando, FL. If you are in Orlando and sick of the amusement parks and outlet shopping, a day out to the nature isn't that bad. It is relatively cheaper than the amusement part except that the LYFT private hire can cost a fair bit if you are travelling from downtown Orlando. The trip back calls for a longer wait. I waited about an hour for the LYFT to arrive!
This was how that Sunday day out went.
- I took a private hire to the park in the morning and arrived when the park isn't open yet. There is a long queue for entry. And it was a long walk for me towards the park.
- Nearing the end of the queue, round a bend, I was greeted by a sign that says Last Chance Tubes. The price for rental was about $9. I asked the lady mending the booth about gaining access as an independent visitor.
- Apparently I had to get a queue ticket from the sheriff on duty. The gray car parked there on the crossing.
- This is how the ticket looks like. There is only a limited number of tickets per day, so everyone tries to be early.
- After the getting hold of the floatation device, there was still some distance to walk before finally reaching the entrance. This sign was sighted at the entrance. Apparently the land for this park was donated by Dr Howard A. Kelly.
- This is the opening hours.
- After entering the park, and paying for the admission, a short walk brought me to the lagoon. The lifeguard was just getting ready.
- It was starting to get crowded!
- Enjoy some views of the spring itself!
- It was pretty crowded with many people doing the tubing thing floating from the start point to the end point seen below.
- Overall, it was a great day out though its a long way from downtown Orlando. Simply love the waters!

You have a wonderful trip
It's interesting to hear about the potential transportation challenges, as using LYFT for private hire can vary in cost and convenience. While the trip to the park seems manageable, the return journey might entail a longer wait, which you personally experienced with an hour's wait for LYFT to arrive. This is a valuable detail for anyone considering a similar adventure.
