Yes it does look like it and fun to lightly touch them in the water as they clamp up thinking that it's food (prey), like this one did. After a while they extend their rows of fingers again and they look like a beautiful flower.
Glad that you loved the gift!

Almost like a starfish, lovely!

Yes, we have a few starfish here at at that we picked up on the beaches and not surprisingly, the bleach a pure white color in the sun.
Saw the mother squirrel was eating some of the shells again and I think that she is after the magnesium.

Oh really! Smart squirrel, magnesium is very good for health

Amazing to think that a little squirrel would have the instinctive knowledge to eat magnesium my friend.
We as the human sapient species claiming to be the greatest thinkers need to be told what is good for us lol.

Hahaha you are right! There is a lot of wisdom in the animal world from where we could learn

We have learned much from nature in the past Lady Mary, but there is no short cuts in nature, so we binned the lessons in the name of "progress"
It is this same word that was the initiator of littering and many other evils that do not exist in nature.

Nature is indeed a great teacher
