Not your ordinary restaurant, but rather a strawberry farm in the Western Cape Province of South Africa.
So today we will take you for a walk to show you how enjoyable it can be to visit one of the many farms that we have here.
There are many hiking trails and one can even hike through a gorge in the mountain, or just take the family out for a picnic. There are also many other activities offered on this farm.

This little Robin Chat guy greeted us at the farm gate!

There in that silvery shine you can see some of the strawberry fields!

009.JPG

Yes, it is now Spring season in South Africa and the map location will show you that we are at the southern tip of the African continent.

051.JPG

Told ya that it is strawberry fields and here we were passing by them.

023.JPG

Good looking fruits aren't they?

033.JPG

Our province is also known as the "Cape of Storms" and a gale force wind dropped this tree onto the low wall of the farm cemetery!

014.JPG

Just a beautiful sight of the mountain here!

018.JPG

This guy reminded me of a close friend and when he sees this, he will undoubtedly claim that he has longer and sharper horns 🤣

066.JPG

A few little farm dams also have some good looking residents.
Some packets of carrots and other food can be bought at the farm restaurant and given to small children to feed the animals.

295.JPG

The goose at the left sounded the call when we appeared and the folks stepped closer for Marian (my wife) to feed them.

235.JPG

"Well" he said, "are you going to stand there and gawk at me, or are you going to give me something to eat"?😁

167.JPG

The play park for children has many old farm implements that even little girls can drive 😀

079.JPG

Then it was time to leave and here you can see the ocean waiting for us!

Yes indeed, a great visit that we really enjoyed, even as we had some fairy rain during the visit. The lush valleys are all shades of different greens and new spring growth competes to draw one's eye. A great variety of birds, horses, cattle and wildlife are in abundance and the sounds of them on the farm instills a sense of well being in my soul.

This is for our friends that do not know strawberry cakes!

Well, well, you posted a photo of a beautiful mountain and a funny photo of a goat ... hahaha 🤣 no comment to that, my friend 😁

We have also strawberry fields, but at least ours here in Carinthia are much smaller.

Interesting and also funny post with cool photos, Zac, I like this cup in the first photo 😀

Okay, let's leave the goat out of it hahaha.

There are a few strawberry farms here and interesting that they all are at that northern side of the mountain.
This particular mountain stand apart from the full mountain range and at the other side of the mountain rage towards the west they have all of the apple farms.
The wine farms run around the strawberry farms all the way up to another set of mountains where the citrus valleys start. In between all of this there's a local airfield and also olive and other produce farms.

Amazing art work that the people create here like that cup and saucer from old tires lol.
Glad that you liked it!

Cheers and thanks!

Good morning Zac,
I can imagine it would look great from an airplane or satellite if all plants would bloom at the same time - probably like an "art work" just as you say 😀

Cheers and !BEER

Good morning Hannes,

The reason why I call them colorful carpets is that that traveled over here in a plane a few times and when you look out of the windows it looks like huge carpets of different colors. Magical sights my friend.

Cheers and thanks!

Hi Zac,

okay, I have time for one or two replies before we leave towards the mountain. The weather doesn't look very good and I hope it doesn't rain.

That's what I meant - looking down from plane would look great 😃

Thank you for a bit of your time and let's hope that the weather will stay good for the hike Hannes.
It can always rain after you guys are back lol.

Yes it is indeed a great show from a plane window!

Cheers and thanks!

Thank you Zac :)
It has rained in the beginning, but then it was quite nice till sunset when many clouds covered most of the colors, but we had a nice hike and evening anyway 😁

Cheers and !BEER

Yumm strawberries, one of my favorite fruits, alas it is fall here and to get strawberries now they are not sweet like the spring ones. It's always fun to feed the hungry critters on the farm, poor guys look like they are starving hahaha. Again a very enjoyable post with great adventures and beautiful pictures. Blessings my friend

Thank you and springtime strawberries are indeed great to eat.
My wife feeds anything that moves and that's why we have a large contingent of wildlife feeding and nesting in our garden at home. But of course there are many farms here and we love to explore as many as we can.
Always surprises to be found at a new venue lol.
Blessings also to you!

Over the mountain tucked away from the storms so much thrives up through those valleys, amazing farming region, let us hope it stays that way for some time to come...

Thanks for lovely Sunday drive and greetings for a good new week ahead Stephen.

Thank you Lady Joan and they are ideally situated behind the mountain that defends against the the storms.
It is a very old region and I agree with your concerns about it staying that way.

Hope that you guys will also have a good week and thank you for the kind gifts!

I remember driving down coming out of the tunnel with Hex River Valley view of snow on mountain tops, green valleys as far as the eye reached, stunning memory!

Amazing how sights like that can linger in one's memory Lady Joan.
We came over here in planes a few times and from the air the beauty is indescribable.
The great thing is that now we can actually go to the place that we saw in the plane.

Blessings!

Nothing beats visiting in person.

Absolutely and the surprises continue to pop up lol.

The red boot with the succulent looked so rustic, loved it!

Great how you can pick out the small interesting stuff in a post Lady Mary.
I think that you know that I have the same look at things that surround me.

Here's a little underwater sea flower for you that I took this morning!

147.JPG

Awwww that's so nice of you, thanks so much! I love this picture gift kind of thing, it's very lovely. It looks like a little coral!

Yes it does look like it and fun to lightly touch them in the water as they clamp up thinking that it's food (prey), like this one did. After a while they extend their rows of fingers again and they look like a beautiful flower.
Glad that you loved the gift!

Almost like a starfish, lovely!

Yes, we have a few starfish here at at that we picked up on the beaches and not surprisingly, the bleach a pure white color in the sun.
Saw the mother squirrel was eating some of the shells again and I think that she is after the magnesium.

Oh really! Smart squirrel, magnesium is very good for health

Sounds like a wonderful place for a day's outing @papilloncharity, so glad to hear that the Cape has been getting good rains!

Thank you Lady Lizzie.

Indeed a great farm and no chance yet to go back there, as tomorrow another cold front is landing here.
We have really had the best of rains here in a very long time and thankfully more to come.

Blessings to you guys and I hope some of it will move over to you guys!
