Little by little I am reaching the end of my journey of the mythical Route 40. My dream has become reality.
I have been transcribing, relating and photographing an unforgettable place in this forgotten part of the world of mass tourism. The goal of any adventurer, in the good sense of the word.
Today I start the 15th stage. All the stages covered can be found at the end of this article with the respective links.
After spending the night well in the middle of the Patagonian plateau I resume my journey.
De a poco estoy llegando al final de mi recorrido de la mítica Ruta 40. Mi sueño se ha transformado en realidad.
He ido transcribiendo, relatando y fotografiando lugare inolvidables en esta parte del mundo olvidada del turismo de masa. La meta de cualquier aventurero, en el buen sentido de la palabra.
Hoy inicio la 15ma etapa. Todas las etapas recorridas las pueden encontrar al final de este artículos con los respectivos enlaces.
Después de pasar la noche bien en el medio de la meseta patagónica reanudo mi viaje.
The lines of the Pataonian plateau are getting longer and longer. Infinite (almost). They seem to have no end. The horizon reaches as far as our eyes can see.
'm going to Tres Lagos is a town in the Department of Lago Argentino, province of Santa Cruz.
Again a section of gravel, a characteristic that has accompanied me throughout this entire journey. Asphalt, gravel, dirt, again asphalt, again gravel and again dirt.
Las rectas de la meseta pataónica son cada vez más largas. Infinitas (casi). Parecen no tener fin. El horizonte alcanza hasta donde llega nuestra vista.
Voy hacia Tres Lagos es una localidad en el Departamento Lago Argentino, provincia de Santa Cruz .
De nuevo un tramo de ripio, una característica que me ha acompañado a lo largo de todo este recorrido. Asfalto, ripio, tierra, de nuevo asfalto, de nuevo ripio y de nuevo tierra.
Cardiel Lake. / Lago Cardiel.
The history of this lake is very curious considering that its main activity is commercial fishing.
After the end of the Second World War, a plane carrying fingerlings bound for Lago Fagnano in Tierra del Fuego was surprised by a storm.
By delaying the flight a long time, the pilot was forced to make a decision to prevent the hatchlings from dying: release them into the first body of water he found.
In this way Lake Cardiel became his new home.
The salmon farming quickly adapted and fish weighing up to 7 kg were caught. The overexploitation came to reduce fishing to a minimum and today it is quite controlled. The pieces that are fished are around 2 kgs
La historia de este lago es muy curiosa condierando que su actividad principal es la pesca comercial.
Poco después de terminada la Segunda Guerra Mundial un avión que transportaba alevinos con destino al Lago Fagnano en Tierra del Fuego se vio sorprendido por una tormenta.
Al demorar mucho el vuelo el piloto se vio obligado a tomar una decisión para evitar que las crias murieran: liberarlos en el primer espejo de agua que encontrara.
De esta manera el lago Cardiel se convirtió en su nuevo hogar.
Las cría de salmones se adaptaron rápidamente y se llevó a pescar ejemplares de hasta 7 kgs. Lo sobreexplotación llegó a reducir al mínimo la pesca y hoy está bastante controlada. Las piezas que se pescan son de alrededor de 2 kgs
I arrive early to Tres Lagos and decide to stay. I find a rustic camping area but that satisfies the basic needs of a traveler. I find a nice place to camp with the local animals.
I have superimposed on the image a map and the arrow of the place where I am. As you can see, there is very, very little left to reach the end of the route.
To sleep another night under the stars!
Llego temprano a Tres Lagos y decido quedarme. Encuentro una zona de camping rústica pero que satisface las necesidad básicas de un viajero. Encuentro un lindo lugar para acampar junto a los animalitos del lugar.
He superpuesto a la imagen un mapa y la flecha del lugar donde me encuentro. Como pueden ver ya falta muy pero muy poco para llegar al final del recorrido.
A dormir otra noche bajo las estrellas!.
