Do you guys know what happened exactly 50 years ago in September 2020, on the german island Fehmarn? No? From the 4th-6th of September 1970, the Love & Peace festival took place there. And the most special thing about that is: This was the last festival Jimi Hendrix played before he died few days later on 18th of September 1970.
Wisst ihr, was vor genau 50 Jahren im September 2020, auf der deutschen Insel Fehmarn stattfand? Nein? Vom 4.-6. September 1970 fand dort das Love & Peace Festival statt. Und das Besondere daran: Dies war das letzte Festival, auf dem Jimi Hendrix spielte, bevor er wenige Tage später, am 18. September 1970, starb.

On 4th of September 2020 my humble self and my family decided to visit Fehmarn for a day trip. Our Hotel was located about half an hour from Fehmarn. There was supposed to be a nice nature reserve on the island and when we were searching for that, we accidentially saw a sign for the Jimi Hendrix memorial stone. We - as late hippies and rock fans - were highly interested and we found a place to park nearby.
Am 4. September 2020 beschlossen meine Wenigkeit und meine Familie, einen Tagesausflug nach Fehmarn zu unternehmen. Unser Hotel lag ca. eine halbe Stunde von Fehmarn entfernt. Es sollte auf der Insel ein schönes Naturschutzgebiet geben und als wir danach suchten, sahen wir zufällig ein Schild zum Jimi Hendrix Gedenkstein. Wir - als späte Hippies und Rockfans - waren äußerst interessiert und haben gleich dort in der Nähe geparkt.

After a 15 minutes walk on the dyke (with children 30 minutes), passing by a huge campground directly at the sea, we saw the stone from far.
Nach einem 15-minütigen Spaziergang auf dem Deich (mit Kindern 30 Minuten), vorbei an einem riesigen Campingplatz direkt am Meer, sahen wir den Stein von weitem.

The memorial stone looks beautiful in front of that tiny grove.

Accidentially, we exactly hit the same date - only 50 years later. What a nice surprise! Only few other people came by to visit the stone as well. Where are all the hippies gone?
Zufällig haben wir genau das gleiche Datum erwischt – nur 50 Jahre später. Was für eine tolle Überraschung! Nur wenige andere Leute kamen auch vorbei, um das Denkmal zu besuchen. Wo sind all die Hippies geblieben?

what a interesting story! I did not know this. Myself, I seen Jimi Hendrix at Grönalund (Stockholm, Sweden) playing outdoors during pouring rain, soaking wet and playing his guitar with his tongue at one point. He played there several times, I believe it must have been 1967 I saw him, because a year later I was in Canada.
Just prior to your date, on August 31st 1970, he was again playing for a large crowd in Grönalund. So that one may have been his second last show:

Das habe ich auch nicht gewusst, das es auf Fehmarn ein Jimi Hendrix Gedenkstein gibt. Hätte mir auch gut vorstellen können das bei dem 50-Jährigen mehr los sein würde.
