Phuket Town has the nickname ‘The Pearl of Andaman' and it’s full of tourists. Partly because the beautiful Andaman Sea a spectacular marine world with stunning sunset and partly because of the thriving nightlife, which attracts tourists from all over the world to come and visit. This is one of the top ranked tourist attractions in the world every year!
My childhood dream was to visit Phuket when I grew up. I wanted to see if the water in the sea could be as blue, clear and beautiful as the pictures I had seen. Phuket did not disappoint! I've already been twice and it's great for diving, traveling between the islands and taking lots of photos. Today I'm happy to reminisce and share the stories of our travels with my lovely HIVE friends!

We arrived at Phuket International Airport and hurried to get our bags and check in at the accommodations in the city first.

The choice to stay in the city was partly inspired by the easy access to delicious and inexpensive food, such as the chicken biryani. It tastes great and only costs 60 baht, which is less than $2!

With our stomachs full, we set out to explore the old city near our accommodations.

Upon arrival, we noticed many vehicles and heavy traffic on the one-way streets. The crowds seemed to be drawn to this community area. Our first stop was to pay respect to the Chinese gods at Saengtham Shrine for good fortune!
เมื่อมาถึงย่านเมืองเก่ารถจะสามารถวิ่งได้ทางเดียว รถค่อนข้างแน่นขนัดเพราะเป็นแหล่งชุมชน ก่อนอื่นพวกเราเลยแวะไหว้ขอพร เทพเจ้าจีน ณ ศาลเจ้าแสงธรรม เพื่อความเฮง เฮง เฮง กันก่อนค่ะ
As soon as you walk into this shrine, you’ll see a Chinese novel and murals covering the ancient Chinese architecture. This temple received the Outstanding Conservation Award from Royal Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn! The selection was made by the Siamese Architects under Royal Patronage.
The entrance to the alley look a bit narrow and mysterious but it’s great to walk along the wall and take photos.
There's a shrine gate that has a tree hanging red wishing leaves behind it that really captures the attention of ladies like us!

ปากซอยทางเข้าอาจดูคับแคบลึกลับนิดหน่อย แต่พอเดินถ่ายรูปกับผนังเข้าไปก็จะเจอซุ้มประตูศาลเจ้าซึ่งจะมีต้นไม้ที่ห้อยใบขอพรสีแดงอยู่ด้านหลัง ช่างดึงดูดความสนใจของสาวสายมูอย่างพวกเราได้ดีทีเดียว
The inside walls of the Chinese building are covered in paintings made from black lines and rectangular grids. It's not difficult to worship the gods and the staff will prepare incense sticks and candles for you. First light a pair of red candles and set them next to each other, then start by paying respects and placing 3 incense sticks in their respective spots in order. Then go out and gild the front to complete the ceremony!

The weather very hot, So it’s time for Thai tea ice cream! We followed that up by Jijo, a local Phuket dessert. This snack is made from flour covered with sesame seeds and stuffed with delicious fillings, such as peanut and purple potato.

After a satisfying walk around the city, we set off up the mountain to visit Wat Phra Yai and see Phuket's ''Phra Phuttha Mingmongkol Akenakkiri“ Buddha statue. The ride up the mountain was comfortable and not too steep. The cool air and 360 degree view of the bay around Phuket beach was very refreshing. So beautiful!
We walked up to pay homage to the Big Buddha, which is a 45 meter tall statue made of reinforced concrete that has been decorated with 135 tons of white jade marble standing tall atop Nakkerd Mountain. The steep mountain is located in Khao Nakkerd National Forest Reserve. The Forest Department requested permission to use the area and built this temple with the intention of making the area a Buddhist park. Full of shade and spectacular beauty, Buddhists come to this place to practice Dhamma or relax and meditate.

Ao Por has a long stretching bay area that runs into the sea. There you can see Naka Noi Island and Naka Yai Island in the foreground. We recommend catching the beautiful sunrise at Ao Po Pier! In the morning you might even see the fisherman heading out to trawl along the shore in hopes of catching shrimp, shellfish, crabs and fish.

Khai Island or Khai Maew Island is not far from Phuket. There's a pristine white sand beach that's suitable for sunbathing as well as a thin sandbar connected to a rocky outcrop. This area is great for a shallow water snorkeling adventure! You can swim in the clear water that surrounds the island and there are restaurants to grab a bite to eat while chilling the day away. This island is a must visit for cat lovers, because the cats will always come out for a walk and photo opportunities!

Phi Phi Don Island is a bit more developed with plumbing and electricity. Most people visit this island for the great restaurants and accommodations. Who wouldn't love waking up refreshed in the morning to go out and run along the beaches and play in the crystal clear water all day!

Next up we arrived at Phi Phi Island and prepared to make the trip to the world-famous Maya Bay! The island was formed by the erosion of a limestone mountain, which left a crescent-shaped cove of cliffs full of large openings and limestone hills. The cove formed a well thousands of years ago and the seawater flows in and out.
Maya Bay is known as one of the most spectacular bays in Thailand and there used to be sand sediment that was deposited and formed one of the world's most beautiful beaches, but after the filming of the movie The Beach, which ferried in heavy equipment, the dunes were damaged and eroded by the sea. The crew also introduced coconut trees and built temporary accommodations which destroyed the native plants. The bay was closed for a number of years to allow nature to heal itself.

อ่าวมาหยา ได้ชื่อว่าอ่าวที่มีความสวยงามที่สุดแห่งหนึ่งของไทย ด้วยหน้าผาที่โอบล้อม ในอดีต เคยมีตะกอนทรายทับถมรวมกันกลายเป็นหาดทรายละเอียด แต่ภายหลังการถ่ายทำหนังเรื่อง The Beach (เดอะบีช) ซึ่งมีการใช้แพขนานยนต์ไปเทียบ เพื่อขนย้ายเครื่องจักรกลขนาดใหญ่ขึ้นฝั่ง พบว่าสันทรายเกิดรอยเว้า ถูกน้ำทะเลกัดเซาะ นอกจากนี้การปรับพื้นที่ปลูกต้นมะพร้าว และสร้างที่พักชั่วคราว ยังทำลายพืชประจำถิ่น ทำลายความสวยงามมาจนถึงปัจจุบัน
We had a nice walk towards the front of Maya Beach and were lucky enough to meet a baby shark! You can take all the photos you want, but swimming is not allowed. The staff informs everyone of the importance of being careful with their sunscreen which could harm the recovering ecosystem.

On the backside of the island is a narrow walkway which leads to a viewpoint where you can see another cute little island!

Tham Phra Nang Beach, also known as Railay Beach, is home to a sacred cave that is respected by sailors. There's a legend that a princess capsized at the mouth of the bay and the villagers believe that her spirit resides in the cave. It's said that on moonlit nights on Railay Beach, a stream of water magically appears and fisherman come to ask for blessings before setting sail to find a good catch. They come back every time to offer flowers, incense sticks, candles and food. For a long time they believed that they should offer her Palad Khik, which is a small penis carved of wood.

Khao Tapu National Park is about 25 kilometers northeast of Phuket and is also known by the name of James Bond Island. Paddles kiss the shimmering waters as we canoe through limestone caves and mangrove forests while admiring the stunningly beautiful rocky cliffs. Geological principles indicate that this mountain has a chance of collapsing from sea erosion in the coming years. This spot was made famous by the James Bond movie 'The Man with the Golden Gun' and travelers come from all over the world to strike their best Bond pose in front of the sign.

Then there's time for some relaxing rowing around Hong Island, which is surprisingly large! You can enter through a cave to explore an inner sea of lagoons which are approximately 2-10 meters wide and 150 meters deep. It's important to allow the tide to rise and fall appropriately when entering the cave and the location is popular with tourists that want to go canoeing. There's a steep cliff and forest around the lagoon and sometimes you can see marmots or hen bats!

At night we watched a thrilling fire dancing show at Patong Bazaar!

Laem Phromthep is located in the southern part of Phuket Island and is the most beautiful spot to watch the sunset. Nearby is the 'Kanchanaphisek Lighthouse' on the Phromthep Cape, which can shine light up to 39 kilometers away! Inside the lighthouse is an exhibit showcasing its construction and standard timekeeping calculations which display the time the sun sets and rises. The Hydrographic Department of the Royal Thai Navy uses these time calculations to determine the standard time in Thailand each day.
Around Laem Phromthep you can of course find more restaurants as well as coffee and souvenir shops. There's also a concrete walkway that sloped down the hill, which you can walk to see another wonderful view of Koh Kaeo Phitsan and Yanui Beach!
แหลมพรหมเทพ อยู่ทางตอนใต้ของเกาะภูเก็ต เป็นจุดชมพระอาทิตย์ตกที่สวยงามที่สุด ใกล้กันเป็นที่ตั้งของ “ประภาคารกาญจนาภิเษก แหลมพรหมเทพ” แสงไฟจากประภาคารยามค่ำคืน สามารถมองเห็นได้ไกลถึง 39 กิโลเมตร ภายในประภาคารจัดแสดงนิทรรศการการก่อสร้างประภาคาร การรักษาเวลามาตรฐาน การคำนวณและแสดงเวลาที่พระอาทิตย์ขึ้นและพระอาทิตย์ตก ซึ่งกรมอุทกศาสตร์ กองทัพเรือ ได้ใช้เวลาขณะที่พระอาทิตย์ตกผ่านประภาคารเป็นเวลามาตรฐานของประเทศไทยในแต่ละวัน บริเวณแหลมพรหมเทพมีร้านอาหาร ร้านกาแฟ ร้านจำหน่ายสินค้าที่ระลึก และยังมีทางเดินคอนกรีตลาดลงเนินเขา เพื่อเดินไปชมทัศนียภาพอีกมุมหนึ่งของเกาะแก้วพิสดารและหาดยะนุ้ยด้วย
