Hi there my Hivean friends and followers!
You might remember the last post about the Prokop Valley that I published here on my blog a couple of months ago. In that post, I showed you what the valley looks like "from the inside" as it consisted of photos taken from the bottom (or the lower part if you will) of the valley. It surely looks beautiful from down there and I still visit this part of the valley too but lately, I have been spending more time exploring this remarkable natural feature from its edges and I can tell you it probably looks even more impressive from up there :)
Naturally, every valley has some elevated edges around and the Prokop Valley in Prague is no exception. The thing was that for quite some time, I didn´t even know that the edges were accessible too. After checking out the maps though, I figured out that there should be some paths and trails leading around the valley so I headed out to verify my "theory" and I was happy to find out that I was right :)
In fact, the elevated, rocky surroundings of the valley are covered with a number of paths and trails, allowing you to literally hike around the whole place. I can see two major benefits of hiking in this part of the valley. The first one is the abundance of amazing views that you get to enjoy from countless spots found on the rims. The other one is the fact that there actually are much fewer people on the edges of the valley than down below on the bottom of it. This is probably due to the fact that many people (just like me until recently) don´t even know that it´s actually possible to hike around the edges too. Moreover, the bottom of the valley comes with well maintained, comfortable asphalt paths and even some basic facilities like playgrounds for kids, picnic & barbecue areas, pubs and restaurants etc. so this part of the valley is more convenient for families with kids, not so fit hikers and visitors who don´t really want to step out of their comfort zone too much :)
With that being said, the upper parts of the valley are suitable for more adventurous hikers who don´t mind some rough terrain, dust, wild blackberry scratches but also a bit of adrenaline when inclining from the cliffs and peeking down below into the valley :)
To make this little review really honest though, I should also mention one drawback that is actually only related to the edges of the valley. Well, drawback... It depends. Maybe it´s just me but in my book, many of the beautiful views that you get to enjoy from up there are kind of ruined by the presence of the high rise residential buildings in the background. I mean these are the moments that make you realize that you are not in a remote forest or something but in a big city with the bustling downtown of it just a few miles away from you :/ But again, it may be just me. I can imagine some people might actually like this kind of juxtaposition scenery with the raw natural beauty on one side and the city skyline on the other one.
Anyway, enough talking. Let´ s take an actual look at the valley from its edges and you will decide if you like it or not :)
I hope you enjoyed the photos. I know it was quite a lot of them and while some of the views may look similar, they all were taken from different spots. In fact, this photo collection was compiled from pictures that I took on several different hikes and days. When combined, I think they actually cover most of the valley, although the valley itself is not small at all, stretching over more than 170 hectares.
I think the Prokop Valley can be considered one of the "hidden green gems" of Prague and also a great natural getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city so I pinned this post to Pinmapple, hopefully it can help someone there :)
Thanks for your attention everyone and if you want, please let me know whether you like better the "interiors" of the valley that I showed you in the post mentioned above or if it´s the upper parts with fewer people and more views that you find more interesting ;)

What an amazing nature you captured. Your phone camera is amazing
Thanks man :) In fact, the phone is already 4 years old and I´m just about to get a new one :) But glad you still liked the pictures!
That's amazing. Just give me the old phone when you get the new one.. lolz 😁..
Hahaha ok! :D
Yes sir

;)
I'm curious at the bottom of the valley, is there a river?
It´s not a river, rather just a little creek / stream ;) Thanks for checking out the photos and being observant!
This pictures taken are really nice. The pictures was it taken with your drone?
Nope, I don´t have a drone. I took them with my phone from the edge of valley, that´s why they appear kind of aerial ;)
Oh it is definitely worth exploring the higher edges around the valley. Great nature, even though the High rise building blocks are visible.
Beautiful captures @phortun 😊😎 thanks for sharing. It’s a stunning place.
