Trip to India (Tripura) - Unakoti (Historical Sculptural Place)

in Worldmappin28 days ago

The year 2025 has been nothing but an exciting turn of event for me. Sure enough, I was able to witness some of the turning points of my life. Due to some of these events, I was away from creating contents for a very long time. It feels like eternity at this point! However, it is time to get back and showcase some of the experience which I was able to gather for the last couple of months.

It has always been my dream to visit different countries and explore different cultures. Although, making the dream come to reality is much harder than it looks. However, I am taking baby steps and making those dreams comes to reality, one step at a time. Visiting India was one of those dreams. It took me a lot of time and preparations for this trip. From obtaining Visa, preparing documents and to planning the whole trip, going through all these process it was nothing more but exciting. As this was sort of solo trip for me. Which is why, I was much more excited than any of my trips before. For the trip, I wanted to explore the land borders of my neighboring country India. For those of you who are not aware where I am from, I am adding a little information out in here, I am from Bangladesh (Sylhet). India is my neighboring country. And I must say this out loud, THANKS TO HIVE I was able to make some really good Indian friends. The community of HIVE is nothing more than amazing, connecting people all across the world!

Unakoti - Tripura

A brief introduction about Tripura! Tripura is a state in Northeastern India. The border of Tripura is surrounded by Assam and Mizoram. Tripura is third smallest state in India. Agartala is the capital and largest city of this state More information in Wikipedia. Unakoti or also known as Subrai Khung is one of those historical places of ancient sculptural artwork. Unakoti in Tripura is one of those places, which will make you question about the reach, thought and execution of architecture in early ages. The rock carvings is what makes this place even more aesthetic and worthwhile. It is said, rock sculptures at Unakoti to the period of Pre Manikyu Rule (Deva Dynasty of Sri Bhumi in Samatata). Unakoti derives to the meaning to "One less than a Crore"!

One of the prime reason for me choosing Tripura for this visit is because there is no language barrier for me. Even though English can be used out in this state but my basic local language which is Sylheti is supposedly the local language which is most used in Tripura. Which made it perfect for me to cope up with the people and the culture out in here.

Unakoti is huge. It requires a ticket to enter to this place. Unakoti is one of those places where you can explore and witness the beauty of nature. There are couple of places within Unakoti, where you will be surprised with not only the humongous art sculptures but also the natural phenomenon of the place. You will have to go through extreme physical activities to witness the full beauty of Unakoti. Since the place has been a part of Unesco World Heritage site, it has been made accessible for people like us to go through this place and enjoy some quality time.

As soon as you enter Unakoti/ Subrai King, you will be greeted with this view. Although, before this view of these sculptures you will face some amazing natural environment from the entrance of this place, which will make you forget about all the worries about the hassle which you went through to visit this place.

Lets take a deep dive into the heart of Unakoti. The place is literally huge. It probably took us almost three to four hours just to explore the place. Some of those times were due to making memories aka taking photographs and such. As soon as you reach the center of the place (which is probably the most attractive part of the place) or people were gathering here was because the view of this place was astounding. As you can witness the sculptures up close and also you can see how gigantic those sculptures are compared to us humans. A Hindu Priest was there and there were some people who were taking spiritual blessing from him. Also as you may notice there was a small fountain which increases the beauty of this place even by far.

As you may have already noticed how big the place is. Most importantly, the jungle surrounding the pace makes it even more aesthetic. There are some trees which are huge. I must be honest, if this tour would have been at night I would probably freak out just because of the environment surrounding this place.

There are places where you can take some rest. As you can get really thirsty because of the staircases. I might have forgotten to add the information, where I had to take stairs for this whole tour. And to be precise, I am very sure of the fact that I have never walked down this many stairs in my life in a single tour. Let me share some images where you can get the idea of how high the place is and how many stairs I had to take to visit this whole place.

To sum up, I must say this tour has ben none other than amazing . Even though it was tiring but it was worth while. I also must say, traveling broadens the knowledge of ours. It makes us realizes how beautiful our world is, how amazing people are across the globe, even though they are different culture and from different country. I suppose this is what makes us humans, the best creation of the world by the Almighty!
