Hello world travel lovers!
First of all, I wish you all a happy Saturday and invite you to smile through your travels.
Today, I want to bring you closer to a significant place in the city where I was born and live. I'm taking you to the site where the city that embraces us today was founded.
We are in Carmen Square or Park, the site where the city of Santa Clara was founded in 1689 thanks to the migration of a priest and 18 families from Remedios, the birthplace of San Juan de los Remedios, the eighth town founded in Cuba between 1513 and 1524 during the Spanish colonization.
In its beginnings, this square was named Conyedo Park, in honor of the priest Juan Conyedo, who was one of those responsible for its initial construction.
In these first images, you can see a tamarind tree inside a monument that evokes the founding moment. This monument was built in 1951 and continues to perpetuate the tradition of keeping the tamarind tree alive, the tree under which the 18 founding families gathered to decide to create the new city.
The monument comprises 18 marble columns that symbolize each of the families mentioned.
Another distinctive element is the bullet holes that remain, reminding us of the era of revolutionary struggle in the late 1950s. A struggle took place there, resulting in the death of Captain Roberto Rodríguez, a prominent revolutionary fighter in our history.
Colonized by the Spanish, religious tradition was of course always at the heart of every aspect of the social development of our evolution as a country.
I say this so we can understand why our city was founded through a mass that led to the construction of what we now see as the Church of Our Lady of Carmen, originally known as the Ermita del Carmen, completed in 1848, in addition to the various reconstruction works that have taken place to bring us to its present image.
It's a church without much opulence. It still retains its original woodwork and a few details in its lamps and altar.
In this square, we can find children and young people playing football or baseball, as well as a group of people practicing Tai Chi Chuan. Why? Because of the tranquility it offers to those who visit. Its geographical location gives it that characteristic that continues to be respected.
So, sitting on the benches surrounding the square, contemplating the trees, the birds, and the weather from where I hang in the clouds to continue my journey, I bid you farewell until another meeting.

Antes que nada, desearles a todos un feliz sábado e invitarles a sonreír a través de sus viajes.
Hoy, quiero acercarles a un lugar significativo de la urbe donde nací y resido. Les traigo al sitio donde se fundó la ciudad que hoy nos abraza.
Estamos en la Plaza o Parque del Carmen, lugar donde se fundó la ciudad de Santa Clara en 1689 gracias a la migración de un sacerdote y 18 familias procedentes de Remedios, ciudad donde nació San Juan de los Remedios, octava villa fundada en Cuba entre 1513 y 1524 durante la colonización española.
En sus inicios, esta plaza tenía el nombre de Parque Conyedo, en honor al presbítero Juan Conyedo, quien fue uno de los responsables de su construcción inicial.
En estas primeras imágenes, pueden apreciar un árbol de tamarindo dentro de un monumento que nos evoca el momento de la fundación. Este monumento fue construido en el año 1951 y continúa perpetuando la tradición de mantener vivo al tamarindo, árbol bajo el cual se reunieron esas 18 familias fundadoras para decidir crear la nueva ciudad.
El monumento comprende 18 columnas de mármol que simbolizan a cada una de las familias referidas.
Otro elemento distintivo, está en los agujeros de balas que se conservan para recordarnos la época de lucha revolucionaria a finales de la década de 1950. Allí se llevó a cabo un proceso de lucha donde falleció el Capitán Roberto Rodríguez, destacado luchador revolucionario de nuestra historia.
Colonizados por los españoles, por supuesto la tradición religiosa siempre estuvo de la mano en cada aspecto del desarrollo social de nuestra evolución como país.
Digo esto para que comprendamos el porqué se funda nuestra ciudad a través de una misa que conduce a la construcción de lo que actualmente vemos como La Iglesia de Nuestra Señora del Carmen, inicialmente Ermita del Carmen, terminada en 1848, amén de varios trabajos de reconstrucción que se la ha realizado hasta llevarnos a la imagen actual.
Es una iglesia que no muestra grandes opulencias. Mantiene aún su madera original y algún que otro detalle en sus lámparas y el altar.
En esta plaza, podemos encontrarnos lo mismo a niños y jóvenes jugando al football o al baseball, que a un grupo de personas praticando Tai Chi Chuan. ¿Por qué? Por la tranquilidad que ofrece a quienes le visitan. Su ubicación geográfica le confiere esa característica que se continúa respetando.
Así, sentado en los bancos que rodean toda la plaza, contemplando los árboles, las aves y el clima desde donde me cuelgo en las nubes para continuar mi viaje, me despido hasta un próximo encuentro.

Una hermosa iglesia , sin duda alguna llena de historia. Esos acabados de madera son hermosos y vaya que si duran muchísimo, trabajos de otra época. Un abrazo es un bonito paseo a través de tus imágenes.

Ciertamente un hermoso lugar marcado por la historia. Casi todas las plazas/parques fundacionales en Cuba tienen mucha tela por dónde cortar en materia de historia. Ojalá @ali-nhyamar78 nos haga un día un post similar sobre el Parque Martí.
