Hello dear friends,

Unfortunately, I wasn't feeling well yesterday, and I couldn't share with you the post that I managed to share today. It's about a place that, in my opinion, is not very well-appreciated, probably because there are many more beautiful castles in Italy. However, it had been a long time since I last visited, and I noticed that some progress has been made. Informational signs have been installed to provide useful details for tourists exploring this place. Also, I learned that this castle has come under the management of a foundation that is working hard to promote it as a tourist attraction.

I'm referring to the Staggia Senese Castle, also known as the Rocca di Saggia. It is a fortress located in the fraction of the municipality of Poggibonsi, always in Tuscany. This fortress dates back to around the year 1000 and played a strategic role in the conflict between Florence and Siena.

Over the years, this castle developed under the ownership of the Soarzi family. As you can see from the photos, in the larger courtyard, there are two cylindrical crenellated towers that were challenging to conquer even back then. The imposing structure indicates the importance of this castle in resisting invasions.

I'll provide you with some information since, naturally, it can be visited by the public. Thanks to the foundation's intervention, it is open every day with continuous hours. Access is possible only through guided tours, with fees of €8 for adults and €5 for children under 11 years old. Reservations are mandatory and can be made through the website provided below. There might be discounts available for the entrance fee, but I honestly haven't checked. I hope this information proves useful to you.

In my opinion, it's a beautiful place worth visiting. Unfortunately, I rushed through my visit, and it was almost evening, so I couldn't take many photos. I also didn't opt for the guided tour, as I went on my own. However, the guided tour lasts about an hour and a half, allowing you to explore the entire castle thoroughly.

As always, I appreciate you taking the time to read this post. I hope you get the chance to visit this place, and I'll see you in my next post. Have a great day, everyone!

I have always admired castles in foreign countries. They are very majestic, even though the buildings are classic, there is an amazing philosophy behind it all

Absolutely! Castles often represent not only architectural marvels but also carry rich histories, cultural significance, and sometimes even legends.

It is a beautiful historical monument. I have always loved castles. And for me, its view and its special architecture have been attractive for photography and visiting, but there is no castle in my city and its surroundings. good luck good friend
