Hi friends, for today's post, I decided to tell you about a place that I visited a while ago, but that as soon as I have the opportunity I will go and visit again, because it is one of my favorite castles and is located after Trento in the Trentino Alto Adige region.
Technically it is one of the most famous castles in Italy I speak of Castel Thun, for many years it was the home of the famous Thun family, one of the richest and most powerful families in the whole of Trentino.
The first impact it had of this castle is that even if it was built around 1300 then over the years it has undergone several changes that have led it to become more of a home for nobles, naturally surrounded by a very complex defense system.
Unfortunately this castle, like many castles in Trentino, has had a period of decline, but fortunately in 1992 it was purchased by the province of Trento, which after about 12 years of Restoration has opened it to the public and can now be visited at a cost of € 8.
The last time I visited it I was just for work in Trento and therefore I made a very quick visit, the advice I can give you and if you have the opportunity to visit during the week because there are fewer people.
Honestly I would have expected not to find anything regarding the furniture, instead the visit can start from the area where the carriages were put back, with original carriages dating back to 1500.
really well kept and very beautiful to look at.
Inside the building, in the various rooms, you can even see the original period furniture, practically with the dishes, various glasses, the many paintings about the family who lived in this building.
I was very impressed by the heating system, which was used at the time, which was connected to the large blue stove, which you see in the first photo, a typical stove from Trentino Alto Adige, and you think they are still produced.
The interiors of this building impressed me a lot, for the attention to detail and how well they were kept, and also the staff in charge behaved very well, in this case they helped me with the visit by explaining some very interesting things.
I forgot that if you are as lucky as I was, your hotel can provide you with the Trentino card which is a card that is used to visit the museums of Trentino for free and moreover you can use the means of transport to get around.
I must say that I enjoyed the visit to this place very much, that's why I want to go back the only thing you have to be a little careful is where you park your car, because there is only a parking lot that is paid and maybe the bad thing the fact that they ask you € 4 to park.
