Welcome back, adventurers! Today, in my post, we will see what adventures the eighth day on the island of Gran Canaria had prepare for me and my colleagues. And it was certainly not enough, so let's see how the day turned out on December 24, 2023.
Vítejte zpět, dobrodruzi! Dnes se v mém příspěvku podíváme jaká dobrodružství si pro mě a mé kolegy připravil osmý den na ostrově Gran Canaria. A nebylo toho rozhodně málo, tak se pojďme podívat jak dopadl 24. prosinec 2023.
As I described in the last article, the night was not exactly the warmest. But, I properly tested my new sleeping bag. Whose comfort temperature is -5 degrees Celsius according to the tables. Which it certainly was that night, but I wasn't clearly suffering from the cold. As I had plan from the previous evening. Go take photos at some viewpoint on the Roque Nublo rock. But to fulfill this plan, I had to walk about 2 kilometers and find such a place. It ended up being just in time. when the sky still shone with all kinds of colors.
Jak jsem se rozepsal v minulém článku, noc nebyla zrovna z těch nejteplejších. Ale na druhou stranu jsem pořádně otestoval můj nový spacák. Jehož komfortní teplota je podle tabulek -5 stupňů Celsia. Což rozhodně tu noc bylo, ale zimou jsem vůbec netrpěl. Podle plánu z předchozího večera jsem měl vyrazit fotit na výhled z něhož bude vidět Roque Nublo. Jenže abych tento plán splnil musel jsem jít asi 2 kilometry, abych takové místo našel. To se nakonec podařilo právě včas. kdy nebe ještě zářilo všemožnými barvami.
So that the morning photo shoot was not only just about one rock. As a bonus, the snowy Mount Teide (3715m) from the neighboring island of Tenerife was added to the background. It is therefore not surprising that I shoot one composition after another, because this phenomenon is probably quite unique. I needed 3 visits to Tenerife just for the snowy Teide. And having the two main landmarks of the largest Canary islands in one photo is perfect.
Aby nebylo ranní focení jen o jednom kameni. Jako bonus se přidala do pozadí zasněžená hora Teide (3715m) z vedlejšího ostrova Tenerife. Není proto divu, že jsem cvakal jednu kompozici za druhou, protože tento úkaz je asi dost unikátní. Jen na zasněžené Teide jsem potřeboval 3 návštěvy Tenerife. A mít dvě hlavní dominanty největších Kanárských ostrovů na jednom fotu je perfektní.
On the way back to the campsite, a typical canary dog without an owner joined me. But this route was probably his morning routine, because he continued further on in the camp. As soon as the sun began to shine through the forest, the ravens began flight to the campsite. One of them probably couldn't fly and was just walking around.
Cestou zpět do tábořiště se ke mě přidal kanárský pes bez páníčka. Ale asi tato cesta byla jeho ranní rutina, protože v tábořišti pokračoval dále svojí cestou. Jakmile začalo do lesa prosvítat slunce, začali se k tábořišti stahovat krkavci. Jeden z nich asi nemohl létat a jen chodil po okolí.
After we set off again to the route, we began to pass frozen puddles in the shadows and forests full of fresh green grass.
Poté co jsme se vydali opět na cestu, začali jsme ve stínech míjet zamrzlé louže a lesy plné čerstvé zelené travičky.
When we reached a spectacular lookout from where was a view of a deep valley lined with wild rock formations.
Až jsme došli na spektakulární vyhlídku odkud byl výhled do hlubokého údolí lemovaného divokými skalními útvary.
Even after ten o'clock morning, traces of the frosty night could be found in shady places.
I po desáté hodině ranní se ve stinných místech dali nalézt památky po mrazivé noci.
But further on, no frosty shadow awaited us. Only a hot environment was prepared for us, where there probably used to be a forest before it was destroyed by fires. Sometimes the relics od forests was still found and somewhere the forest was artificially cultivated again.
Ale dále už nás žádný mrazivý stín nečekal. Bylo pro nás připraveno pouze horké prostředí, kde asi dříve býval les, než ho zničili požáry. Občas se někde ještě zbytek nacházel a místy byl znovu les znovu uměle vysazen.
After one o'clock in the afternoon we reached a place called Cruz de Tejeda, where at that time were a great number of people. So we headed to the market first to restock supplies for the next days of travel. Then we headed to a building that looked like an old fort but was a luxury hotel with a restaurant. We had planned to eat here, but due to the fact that the staff clearly ignored us. We only had one beer and moved on to another place called Yolanda. Where we were originally asked if we had a reservation, but the restaurant operator promptly seated us and immediately brought us a cold beer. As a Christmas meal we ordered a T-bone steak and about 8 beers each. Food and beer were perfect and I definitely recommend visiting this restaurant if you are in the area.
Po jedné hodině odpoledne jsme došli do místa jménem Cruz de Tejeda. Kde tou dobou bylo obrovské množství lidí. Tak jsme nejprve zamířili na trh, abychom doplnili zásoby na další dny cestování. Pak jsme zamířili do budovy, která vypadala jako stará pevnost. Ale byl zde luxusní hotel s restaurací. Původně jsme měli v plánu se zde najíst, ale vzhledem k tomu, že nás obsluha vysloveně ignorovala jsme se rozhodli odejít. Dali jsem si tedy jen jedno pivo a přesunuli se do dalšího podniku se jménem Yolanda. Kde se nás původně ptali zda máme rezervaci, ale pan provozní nás urychleně usadil a ihned přinesl studené pivo. Jako vánoční jídlo jsme zvolili t-bone steak a k tomu asi 8 piv každý. Jídlo i pivo bylo perfektní a rozhodně doporučuji návštěvu tohoto zařízení pokud budete v okolí.
Since the sunset was approaching uncompromisingly. We had to hit the road again. The trail led up the side of the hill with unbeatable views. So I stopped every moment and took pictures until we reached the place where the tourist shelter was supposed to be. Which in the end turned out to be a place where was concrete viewing platform to the surroundings.
Vzhledem k tomu, že se západ slunce nekompromisně blížil. Museli jsme opět vyrazit na cestu. Stezka vedla po úbočí kopce s bezkonkurenčními výhledy. Takže jsem každou chvíli zastavoval a fotil, až jsme nakonec došli k místu kde měl být turistický přístřešek. Což se nakonec ukázalo jako místo, s betonovou vyhlídkou do okolí.
We didn't want to sleep here, because if the weather changed it would be a fight for survival, and besides, cars with passing tourists were always stopping here. So we continued along the path further into the forest. Where we finally found a flat spot in the pine forest.
Zde jsme spát nechtěli, protože kdyby se změnilo počasí, byl by to boj o přežití. A navíc zde pořád zastavovali auta s projíždějícími turisty. Tak jsme pokračovali po stezce dále do lesa. Kde jsme nakonec našli rovné místo v borovém lese.

Wow, the views look amazing! I've been to other islands in the canaries but not yet to Gran Canaria. Which is your favorite place on the island?
Btw, I think I remember your posts from @travelfeed a while ago, have you had a chance to try the TravelFeed platform recently?
Gran Canaria is quite diverse and it is difficult to choose one place. I liked the dunes of Dunas Las Palomas, then the whole main ridge which was the section from this article and then in the north of the island the pastures without forests. But I haven't written about that yet. Haven't looked at @travelfeed in a while.

Tři sta hlasujících za 20 minut... Máš slušnou reputaci. Jo a musím uznat, že hory jsou docela fotogenické. Někdy si udělám taky výlet do skal...
Poslední rok jsem se docela snažil :) V Čechách máme spousty pěkných skal, hrozně dlouho plánuju jet do Adršpachu a když se to konečně mohlo uskutečnit, tak si kamarád co to tam hodně dobře zná narazil kostrč. Takže zase nic :(
Přemýšlím, že bych se vydal už zítra... Uvidím. Ale zrovna dlouhá výprava to nebude. Nesmí pršet.
Já to taky poslední dva měsíce flákám, byl jsem nejdál jen v Kácově v Posázaví. Budu muset něco vymyslet, aby bylo o čem psát, až dojedu Gran Canarii.
To jsem minulý týden psal prakticky denně. Byly prázdniny. Tenhle týden... Dva.
