When I started my journey through the desert I never imagined that I would be under a waterfall, nature is so magical that in a matter of an hour as seen in the image of Google maps, you can go from an arid desert to the cold waters of a beautiful waterfall. The Hueque Cathars are located in the state of Falcon in Venezuela, specifically in the Juan Crisostomo Falcon National Park, and are easily accessible if you travel by private car or on an excursion as I did.
The road is paved at the beginning, but at the end, there is a stretch of dirt until you reach the parking lot of the park, from there you can hear the sound of water and you can only see some long stairs up, the steps are wide and comfortable to climb.

Cuando inicie mi viaje por el desierto jamás imagine que estaría debajo de una catarata, la naturaleza es tan mágica que en cuestión de una hora como se observa en la imagen de Google maps, se puede pasar de un árido desierto a las aguas frías de una bella catarata. Las cátaras de Hueque se encuentran en el estado Falcón en Venezuela, específicamente en el parque nacional Juan Crisóstomo Falcón y es de fácil acceso siempre que se viaje en carro particular o en alguna excursión como lo hice yo.
La vía al principio está asfaltada, pero al final hay un tramo de tierra hasta que se llega al estacionamiento del parque, desde allí se puede escuchar el ruido del agua y solo se visualizan unas largas escaleras hacia arriba, los escalones son anchos y cómodos para subirlos.

That day I was tired and my leg muscles were aching because the day before was the ascent to the dunes and as I described in this publication, you need to be in a good physical and mental condition to run up the mountain as fast as possible before the sand eats you, so I was at 50% of battery, I climbed the stairs enjoying the environment there were many trees and you could hear several types of birds and animals with their characteristic sounds I guess they were saying "watch out here comes the biggest predator of the fauna", it was about 5 minutes maybe less when I arrived and I got a "Wuaoo! How beautiful nature is.
Ese día me encontraba cansada y me dolían los músculos de las piernas porque el día anterior fue la subida a los médanos y como lo relate en esta publicación, se requiere estar en buenas condiciones físicas y mentales para correr montaña arriba los más rápidos posibles antes que te coma la arena, por lo que me encontraba en un 50 % de batería, subí las escaleras disfrutando del ambiente había muchos árboles y se escuchaban varios tipos de pájaros y animales con sus sonidos característicos supongo que decían “cuidado ahí viene el mayor depredador de la fauna”, fueron unos 5 minutos tal vez menos cuando llegue y se me salió un ¡Wuaoo! Que hermosa es la naturaleza.
The place was full of local people, children, and park rangers and you could see the waterfall in all its splendor, first I walked around the area looking for a place to put my things, I noticed that older ladies between 60 and 80 years old were inside the waterfall and below it, that gave me the confidence to dive and get into the caves.
The water was cold as if it came out of the fridge, the river is strong, but passable, if you walk slowly taking slow and safe steps you can reach any place of the waterfall and life in general, what was strange is that once we got wet the water temperature went down, we all acclimatized and it felt cold, but not freezing. The group spent 3 hours enjoying this place, some of us wanted to stay, however, we had to continue with what we had planned.
El lugar estaba lleno de personas de la localidad, niños, y guardabosques y se podía ver la catarata en todo su esplendor, primero caminé por el área buscando un lugar para poner mis cosas, me llamo la atención que señoras mayores de edades entre 60 y 80 años estaba adentro de la cátara y debajo de ella, eso me dio confianza para sumergirme y meterme en las cuevas.
El agua fría, como si saliera de la nevera, el río es fuerte, pero transitable, si se camina despacio dando pasos lentos y seguros se puede llegar a cualquier sitio de la catarata y de la vida en general, lo que si era extraño es que una vez que nos mojamos la temperatura del agua pasaba, todos nos aclimatamos y se sentía frío, pero no congelante. El grupo duro 3 horas disfrutando de este lugar algunos queríamos quedarnos, sin embargo, debíamos seguir con lo planificado.
This was my first time in a waterfall inside and below it, I walked through all the areas where I could even go up with a large group and from above we took many photos and videos, the waterfall is about 25 meters and in that park, there are only two, bathing in these clean and pure waters is priceless, you feel indescribable energy that renews, I am very grateful to God and Hive for allowing me to know this place and live this experience.
Esta fue mi primera vez en una catarata dentro y debajo de ella, camine por todas las áreas donde podía hasta subí con un grupo grande y desde arriba nos tomamos muchas fotos y videos, la catarata mide unos 25 metros y en ese parque existen solos dos, bañarse en esas aguas limpias y puras no tiene precio se siente una energía indescriptible que renueva, estoy muy agradecida con Dios y con Hive por darme la oportunidad de conocer este sitio y vivir esta experiencia.
